I warned Falicon that they would be tagged for their bad quality and service they performed. They didn't seem to mind so here it is. A crank was sent to them for a rod bearing that lightly spun on a stock 1000RR crank. It was sent in for a $125 evaluation and two weeks later I was contacted saying it was done. I was charged $459 for a rod bearing repair that I didn't approve of. I needed the crank so I paid it and built the engine. Little did I know they warped the crank from the repair. A 100 miles later all the crank bearings were shot. A local machine shop verified the line bore true but the crank to have excessive run out. Falicon said they would warranty the work so it was sent back. They ended up charging me $256 for the “warranty” repair and sent it back with the same amount of run out that it went in with. They were contacted immediately but refused a refund. They said the engine was built incorrectly, the machinist I hired couldn't validate run out, and to run it in the engine even though it didn’t meet OEM spec. This is unacceptable service. Had my brothers help me in and out of my kitchen the same way a 1977 Kaw KZ1000. Owned a Kaw 1983 GPZ1100 T.J. Hoffmeister built mine him and his dad were Mr. Turbo what fond memories.

Great build video... I love to see what came of these parts... I would love to continue to support the many updates to the CBR1000 rr turbo kit including up to the 2013 CBR1000rr turbo, However getting cut in half by a U-Haul truck in the crosswalk ended everything until now or soon from now... I was/am C-LMS (Cycle-Logic MotorSports) and plan to reinvent for 2019 the CBR turbo kit once again... I love that you're using the majority of the kit including the loc-up, gauge pod and the plenum assembly especially. I've always catered to Honda and will continue to as my abilities / disabilities allow...
Your parts are hard to find. I couldn't turn up anymore of the plenum assemblies for my other 1000rrs. I bypassed the factory map sensor and put in a 3 bar with more boost. Unfortunately the map sensor, fuel, and timing are all part of a piggy back system. I'd love to be able to tune the factory ECU..... Hope you are doing well David! I've always been partial to Honda myself.

@@Law3K Cycle Logic Motorsports used to make them but they have been out of business for years. It will be tough finding one.

i dont think you can buy ANY part from cycle -logic there is no response. you can order and pay on their website but i doubt you'll get your stuff. besides the kit, the they advertise lockup clutch and titanuim springs which i eyeballed. You are much more mechanically incline than me. I dont think i'd be capable of doing it myself. good job. nice bike. cbr1000rr 04-07 with turbo is very rare
the guy got nailed by a truck and crippled which has basically killed his business, there are a few other guys out there and rumors he is trying to get back into the game though.

Hi! Very nice build-video! I am working on a project-bike cbr1000rr too and found courage to see that I am not the only one that likes to tinker with his stuff . I would love to have a chat with you , talking about particular challenges you faced during this conversion especially on packaging . If it's not too much of an effort of-course , I believe you will be equally excited as I am trying some radical things .

The bike was parked only a few months after I made this video 4 years ago. I couldn't stay out of the throttle and I stopped while I was ahead. It has sat in climate controlled storage ever since. I have everything outside of the carrillo rods to make a 350HP engine. What do you want to offer?

Did the autotune, tune it's self? Any dyno numbers? Looking at doing a pretty much exact build soon!
Guesstimate cost on how much you have into the entire turbo setup. I have a pc3, but if I go thru with this I would switch to pc5 and autotune.
What kind of adjustments did you have to make?
To do a turbo setup right, the nikasil plating should be replaced with cast sleeves and the compression slightly lowered. The easiest way to setup the fuel system is with a RRFPR so the fuel pressure can be increased with boost. The PCV works well for the money and has a 0-5V reference for boost. The map sensor also needs addressing or the bike will throw a code. Depending on how much boost you’re going to make you’ll need different rods, valve springs, fuel injectors, timing adjustments, etc. If you’re running low boost this won’t be necessary. For a new kit running low boost with everything included minus engine mods figure 6k. This can be almost cut in half if you shop around for used parts and put it together yourself. Your bike should hold together if you tune it right and stay out of the throttle. If you like to push your bike like I do, even with low boost, plan on engine work. Around 12HP is gained per pound of boost with stock compression.

george elias The bike had 22k miles on it when it was turbocharged. After several thousand hard miles, it developed noticeable blow by through the crankcase breather. A compression test showed 90 psi on cylinder 2 & 3 and a leak test found faulty rings. The turbo made up for the lost compression and it was still able to power wheelie at rather "scary" speeds. The engine was freshened up over the winter. A second dedicated turbo engine is being built that will take the abuse and add another 100HP.

You can put in heavier springs which will make the clutch harder to pull or install a lock-up clutch. You can pick them up for a couple hundred dollars.

It looks like the boost comes on very late in the rev-range? Doesn't it suffer from a lot of turbo-lag? And isn't it quite hard to ride fast on twisted roads?
+Mark J The lower end power band is the same as stock. Boost comes on at 5k which is where the bike starts making power being NA. Throttle control is key.

I'd say full boost around 8k. This was the original turbo used in the design of the cycle logic kits. I think he also used a VF22.

Honest answer. How reliable is it? I build mini formula cars with Honda CRB 600 engines and was thinking about turboing the engine but need it to stay super reliable. It's for competition.
You have to do an engine build as well if you want it reliable.

The engine in the video was stock compression but it has been lowered since. The turbo charger was put on two years ago.
Did you go with a thicker headgasket or de-comp pistons???

@@welderguy0000 honestly id have just gone for thicker gaskets or a spacer given it wouldnt need to drop that far given modern sportsbike compression is about 12:1 BUT i hate the issues that smaller pistons have caused me over the years with ring wear issues so I am biased.

I know the kits you are talking about. They are no longer made. Don't plan on plug and play too long without some engine work.

El kit se monto con muchas piezas fabricadas a mano. Lo unico que utilice del sumisistro "estadounidense" fue el plenum y la placa de alimentacion de aceite. La bicicleta fue estacionada solo un ano despues de este video, era demansiado rapido para un piloto diario. Esta a laventa si quieres comprario.

how has your bottom end held up? Assuming the motor was not blueprinted.
The bottom end held up like a champ. The pistons, rings, and cylinder walls were another story.
+Steve Kruger they were stock? That's ballsy haha in my race build we were looking to reinforce the sidewalls of the cylinders with pins so they won't oval under power. I would not re chrome the cylinders again if they were fried (I did) cause the aluminum on the case is sintered. Oil pockets for days.

I still have it. The next engine is going to have cast sleeves which will hold up a lot better.

I'd build up the engine because you don't put a turbo on something to putz around.
You not changed piston right?, it still had the stock compression, what gas you use?
It has stock compression and I used 91 octane. I have lower compression pistons that need to get put in along with forged rods.

bro thats practically the same turbo and injectors i use in my subaru lol
when you think about it it works perfectly your scooby revs to what 9k and is a 2l this is a 1l that revs to 16-18k so the turbo will flow the right amount of air at max rpm for both. one of the main reasons bikes end up with unimpressive power/boost and have issues is following the advice on using a tiny turbo without considering the rpm ceiling. something from a 1ltre car wont handle the rpm needs of a bike well.

It cost me $4,500 in parts to build an engine Falicon ruined by sending me a bent crank. After being charged for a warranty repair and having excessive run out right out of the box after getting it back, I told them I would tag them if they didn't refund me my money on the crankshaft. Super crazy you did fucking amazing. I got a 2006 cbr1000 in a off road buggy I'm seriously consider doing a turbo. For a stock engine 8lbs boost what do you think 2-3k for complete? My set up is different though as I'm running dual busa mid pipes with custom headers. I have a lot of figuring to do but I really want it!
+john67elco If you can do the work yourself and fab a few parts, I'd say you can do it for that. The turbo itself will take a lot of your budget depending on if you go new.
