I remember watching this when I was 8 or 9 years old, now I'm 20.
I even remember the energetic music of this neverforgettable video.
I had this super urge to go ahead and try making a DIY Go Kart and referred this video atleast a 100 times! when I was 8 or 9.
I eventually purchased some wood, a pair of caster wheels and 2 cycle wheel for steering.
But it was too basic that it moved only when someone pushed from behind, there was no pedal nor engine.
I truly cherish those stresless days having just a blind aim to create a Go Kart and even today I remember loving doin it despite the sweat, dirt & occasional cuts.
I writing this with teary eyes getting reminded of the best days of my life.
Nice one. Many years ago I bought a Kettler for my daughter and I still have it. I'd often thought about what it would take in powering it with a small two stroke engine, but never thought of placing the engine under the seat. Very nice control layout and I particularly like the way you placed the exhaust.
NICE! I have one & was about to do the same. Instead I got a hold of a Razor Dune buggy for my 49cc Go Kartin' fun. All that nice work & time spent on this I would have thrown a few welds through out the frame, seat, & steering support. That thing'll disintegrate in a weak with my 200lbs, torque, & vibration from motor. It will be the envy of all the kids that'll follow you round wantin' to ride. Thats my problem and I aint no kid. I just run'em down. Solved. They ask me no more. keep it pimpin!
Awwww woow I used to drive a pedal gokart with my lil bro, it was kinda... fun.... I guess I need my personal one at the country... I hope it's powerful enough but also safe enough ^^

Hi lepton I've been trying hard to get it running on the iPad but have searched hard on settings and still can,t find how to do it as it would suit me too.i think it's because of the camera I used at the time or maybe as I uploaded by my computer, sorry. Thanks for the comments.get one built and let every one see it. Cheers
not to complain but why didnt you place the engine where the pedals were and use the stock pedal chain please reply

Hi there thanks for the comments.The bushings/stops are to keep rear axle central and 2 sprockets in line.There are no bearings just used original plastic bushings.The sprocket is welded to the axle.the engine i used is a 50cc minimoto engine and to be honest i think the 25cc engine might be a little underpowered.I see that a brand new minimoto engine can be bought for as little as £50 on ebay.Good luck with your project,keep me posted.

Hi larbag 100.i liked it under the seat as it was hidden better.Also less chance of getting burn,t from the heat of the engine or exhaust.

@wrcopey11 Hi there i borrowed / stole the axle out of my wee daughters pram/buggy which was ideal as it was long enough for the job and reasonably strong.It was 10mm thick diameter bar. keep me posted with the project.Any more questions or queries please ask.

@soldout1986 Hi it just says "kettcar original " on the front of it,not to sure if kettler is the same make.

@traceym23 Hi there yes the frame can be easily welded I used a siegen 180 amp mig welder which was ideal for this project, thanks for the comments ........ get one built

Yes it was out of the mini motorbike at the start of the video,or you can buy mini Moto engines and parts on eBay,cheers

Can one mount the engine on the front?
Yes but why? Longer driveshaft, more weight, harder to wheelie, less fun.
The music is annoying but besides it is a good step buy step video.

I made a one of these with a lot bigger ketty car and used a 500cc engine... it goes FUCKING 100 MPH!!!

fast boy channel 1115 I used parts off the mini moto and also axle off an old pram/ kids buggy.just whatever I could get my hands on.
