    Hi Kris. Did you ever had difficulty in choosing between a 49 vs 61 microkey in terms of portability and playability? Hope to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks.

      I almost said "no go" on considering this board when I saw the mod wheels on the right LOL! Great to see an accomplished player like you enjoying this board. I would have thought a player of your skill would pooh-pooh this board with the mini-keys. But if it's good enough for you, then it's well good enough for a synth-nut like me. Thanks!

    Speaking of DX sounds, I was initially excited with the release of the, "FREE", "FM Essentials" iOS app by Yamaha, but then found out you need a MX49 Keyboard or better to unlock it's functions. Plus, it's only 4-Operator FM. The kind of Bass sounds you are describing, (and E-Piano too) you'll only find on a real 6-Op DX7 or DX7II (Also SY77, SY99, Montage). The only alternative is FM8 (or FM7) which support full 6-op, and even up to 8 Operators. I sold my DX7II years ago and then found FM7, and the newer FM8, apps and will probably never buy a Yamaha product again. They keep pushing the old 4-op sound, and reserving the 6-Op hardware for the higher end, products like the Montage. The Reface DX is only 4-op too. You go back to some of the Electone Organs, You can pick up for a hundred dollars, had 8-Operator FM Synth, and sounded fantastic.

    Thanks for your videos about this keyboard! I've played guitar for a long time and since I already own iGrand Piano I decided to get this keyboard to start learning how to play. I did have the irig keys but I thought it was too small and the keys didn't feel right. After I saw that you can play really well with these apps and what is essentially a midi keyboard, I realised that this should be a good enough intro to learning the keyboard. What do you think?

    hi Kris, I was wondering if the Ipad is the sound module? I have a Korg Microstation and I use it for small gigs. I was thinking of getting a travel mini keyboard. I am just not sure about the Ipad and Wifi availability. Thanks for your suggestions. EdA

      eaacowboys hi my friend yes to iPad is the sound module
      The reason I got the Korg MicroKey Air 61 is because this is the only 61 key that can fit in the overhead compartment or underneath my seat on the airplane

    • @eaacowboys

      hi Kris, that is the primary reason that I like the korg microkey for travel and store it in the overhead compartment. Another product is Seaboard, I would love to see you play with it. tnx EdA

  • @RulgertGhostalker
    @RulgertGhostalker 5 лет назад +1

    Rulgert Ghostalker's Korg MicroKey 61 Reveiw.....i would not call the keys weighted; semi-weighted maybe, but not weighted, and certainly not a quality hammer action weighted....when someone says " weighted keys" i expect to be able to snap the player side edge, of any key, and have the inertia carry it through to a strike....not the case with the Korg Micro Key, which i would refer to as a " spring action semi-weighted " board....i like the compactness, and overall layout, of the Korg MicroKey 61, but would have paid 400USD for a 61 key hammer-action board with the same dimensions that allows this one to fit in my work space......it also would be nice if each key's root width was 0.5mm more, provided the extra 3.05cm of the , then, keybed, would not add more than 1 or 2 cm to a very slightly extended unit.

    question, what was the point of getting a wireless keyboard you can barely move around, curious?

    • @KMNKeyboardVault
      @KMNKeyboardVault  7 лет назад +2

      DJ BADMIRAL The only reason why I got it was for portable reasons if I go on a trip on a airplane
      This is the only Keyboard that I could take with me and put underneath my seat and while I'm waiting for another connecting flight at the airport I could just take it out and play with my headphones on

    • @djbadmiral
      @djbadmiral 7 лет назад

      KMNKeyboardVault Okay I get that, but you think that thing is easy to maneuver around on a consistent? I'm just saying portable wise, seems pretty dumb if the whole concept of being wireless is really kinda to be on the go. You can't calmly put that in your bag, or rush your plane if you're running late and didn't check the time cuz you were making beats. I got the keyboard more so for my phone, but just the fact I'm on the go on a consistent and I like to have that freedom of going anywhere I want with my content and not having to pull it up from my email or telling people go to my soundcloud or it's at my house.

    • @KMNKeyboardVault
      @KMNKeyboardVault  7 лет назад +1

      Well everybody has their opinions of what keep our controllers to use but this is the one that is best for me when I'm on the go I have a separate little case for the Korg and it's a lot easier for me to maneuver around anywhere my perfect on the go Keyboard.
      Question what he were controller do you have I just gave up my IK multimedia mini it was a 37 note keyboard controller it was pretty cool and contact but I cannot play on 37 note

    • @djbadmiral
      @djbadmiral 7 лет назад

      I was using an novation 25 key station, I just got my korg microkey air 25 like last week. but before those I had a m audio 37 keyboard. I could take it around but it wasn't consistent with me always moving around. So I started getting smaller in size of my equipment.

    • @Mooncalf2012
      @Mooncalf2012 7 лет назад +3

      You need at least 61 keys to play all the left hand notes of "the standards". Most classical music will require a 76 note or an 88 note key controller (no octave switching on the fly). The MicroKey also probably a lot easier to lug around than a guitar...
