What I absolutely love about this old skit, is when you’ve got a world champion player like Steve Davis whose game enough to play along, he would obviously need to be the one in the sketch, putting on the black glove, setting up and then taking the really tricky shots, for cropped filming and later editing. Like those swerves, for example, and the awesome six-cushion pink at the end. In fact you can clearly see it’s his arm and not Shaft’s black turtle-neck at 0:45. Makes it all the funnier. What a great guy!
@@JimFinnis the point is that they used a white person to play the sketch, instead of the black member that they hired for the show. It's whit person with black make up, which is not ok

It was so sad to lose Felix Dexter at such a young age, but the actor playing Shaft was Colin McFarlane, who appeared in quite a few of their sketches after the first series.
This is a masterclass in editing, camerawork and sound as well as being bloody funny.
RIP Richard Roundtree, I really hope he saw this sketch, I’m sure he would’ve loved it!
A brilliant sketch. It must had taken many takes for Colin McFarlane to get the shots right.
1:13 the camera zooming in, the down pace of the music, and the ball just rolling along is just perfect.
Shaft rules, plus he has a great ability for break building with his carefully crafted shot making decisions.
