A software like nuke doesn't have a simple gradient....
    This is very wierd.

    I prefer After Effects .

I don't know what to say because I like both programs...
I posted a comment that explains more precisely what I think about this particular process and, for the record, would not feel diminished by using After Effects...

    Thanks for the tutorial!
I am discovering with you the "Expression Node" and I am really interested and impressed by what it can do!
Just one thing that bothers me is that the map you generate is not a very good map for a shockwave effect...
Yours moves the pixels around the center while a shockwave is supposed to move the pixels closer or farther from the center...
    ...In my opinion.
I find it a bit of a shame because Andrew Cramer's Sci-Fi Weapon FX Tutorial on After Effects is more accurate for this effect.
I'm sure a more correct map is doable in Nuke and I guess you chose to simplify for the tutorial. But coming from After Effects and knowing that Nuke remains the leader in special effects, I'm still annoyed to find regularly worse solutions in Nuke than in After Effects on RUclips...
This does not diminish the validity of your video which I find excellent!
Thank you again for this video!
