    Your expert is wrong . Daddy long legs are spiders that eat house spiders which is why they have long legs to spin the house spiders up in Web to avoid it's fangs. The insect he referred to as Daddy long legs are Crane flies .

    • @ultimatevyse
      @ultimatevyse 11 дней назад

      The common name 'daddy long-legs' is used to refer to three entirely different creatures; Pholcus phalangioides (long-bodied cellar spider), harvestmen (Order Opiliones) which is sill an arachnid but not a spider, and crane flies (Family Tipulidae).
      Also, cellar spiders are not specialised spider hunters. They are opportunistic and very efficient hunters that will take on anything that gets too close to their web, and this can sometimes include other spiders.

    The first spider shown in the container is not a common house spider (Tegenaria domestica). It is in fact a giant house spider, (either Eratigena atrica, E. duellica, or E. saeva) - these three species are superficially almost identical and can only be separated by microscopic examination of an adult spider's genitalia. They are, however, very easily visually distinguishable from T. domestica.
