4:08 It is also worth mentioning that prior to Korean War in 1950, the Philippines also played a huge rule in establishing their own republic. In 1948 The Philippines was a member of UN Korea Committee. The goal of this committee was to hold a general election for South Korea to be a separate nation coz that time tho Korea was already divided, they were still under one nation. The North Koreans could still pass through the demilitarized zone and go to South Korea the same with South Koreans to North. 3 months after the committee held an election, the republic of Korea was established and the South Koreans elected their first president. Shortly after, North Korea also established their own communist republic. Sadly after 2 yrs of having their own republic, Korean War broke. The demilitarized zone became a cursed line.
The trade imbalance between the Philippines and South Korea hugely favors the latter. Good that S.Korea is investing in the Philippines, and I hope the businesses they established exports some of its products to S. Korea to reduce the trade imbalance to a more reasonable (and sustainable) level.
@@wafercrackerjack880 Actually, the Philippines has many things that South Korea needs like nickel, iron ore and other minerals. The Philippine Government should move to correct the trade imbalance by asking Skorea to enter into a purchase agreement with the Philippines covering metals and other minerals just like how the US is pushing China to purchase its agricultural produce and other american products to bring the trade imbalance between the two countries to a more reasonable level.
