its just that in the Philippines, there is this stupid mindset that, China is like everywhere in the Philippines, example , people getting woked with loans/investment we have from china.. i mean what the heck, They are hyping china so much so the media can politicize it and instigate hate towards the government.. hyping such as promises.. i mean really.. we should just focus our attention and appreciation towards Japan... as u said china, isnt even our top investor.. so why the hype?

Building railways in Luzon is a smart move, and the links between Manila Airport and Clarke; and also Clarke to Sual Freeport are now considered both critical and viable. Clearly the Philippines should look to Japan rather than China for loans without political entrapment.

I have travelled a lot with work and I have seen what "developing a country" does for the people of that country on the whole.... not a lot of good has been my observations. The usual top 5% of the rich get wealthier, but the vast majority face higher taxes and cost of living.... Brasil, Azerbaijan, Mexico, indonesia and philippines (i have lived here 16 years), Azerbaijan Baku in particular might have been a shabby run down city in 2003, but investment has now placed living beyond the reach of almost anyone if not involved in the oil industry.

You need many forms of investment to develop a country. The Philippines suffers from having excellent natural resources but having no industries to utilise them in the making of other products. No products because no factories because no investments and therefore no jobs. They sell raw materials to foreign countries as raw materials and, like oil, only those extracting, refining and transporting the oil benefit.
Those from Western countries could only look on in utter disbelief at the people voting for a Marcos as president. Nothing's going to change in Phils any decade soon.

Your ignorance on this matter leads me to strongly suspect that this is nothing more than rather poorly-crafted soft propaganda. First, if you genuinely meant to try and answer your (rather convoluted) question, your research would immediately lead you to the fact that China has also occupied and completely militarized sovereign Philippine territory in the form of the disputed islands in the West Philippine Sea. Their presence is purely exploitative, consisting entirely of military and commercial fishing vessels. Ports, deep-water harbors, naval guns, radar arrays, stealth ships, airbases, fighters, bombers, cruise missiles, soldiers and their housing are now less than an hours flight from Manila and critically, further pressurize the already tense West Philippine Sea. You fail to mention any of this and that is rather glaring, particularly because this is the answer to your question, but you ignore it because your approach is so sloppy, you've forgotten the ostensible purpose of your video. Despite taking some shallow shots at China, you actually end up defending them (with questionable facts) and even insisting that we accept the inevitable Chinese dominance of the global economy. Like I said, you are sloppy (and barely coherent by this point in the video). So, yes, China seems to have successfully fooled the Philippines for as you say, we have a few lousy bridges to show for it, while China has not only managed a land grab of Philippine territory that is largely considered to hide the worlds last big oil reserve (priceless to the virtually oil-less Philippines) but at the same time has snuggled right up to the Philippines and put a knife to her throat. You avoid covering how obvious this reality is, but the funny thing is, you might be surprised as Filipinos are incredibly crafty scammers in their own right, so who know? What I do know is that the rise of China is by no means inevitable and that another thing you are downplaying is the gravity of China's financial and not to mention social and cultural problems at this very moment. At its current course, the CCP will never achieve dominance, especially not when people like you are tasked with producing their propaganda. Furthermore, it stands to reason that their success will only be as shallow as their values. I mean, you never know, this could be the beginning of the end for the CCP.

I get your point, but I'm sorry to say that as someone who studied International Relations, this is unfortunately factually incorrect. Many scholars would actually describe China's contemporary rise of power as actually much less expansionist, especially compared to Western countries.
Japan's colonial policies were much curbed after their defeat in WWII, absolutely. But as they're a military partner of NATO, I wouldn't call them a peaceful country either. They've sent troops during the Iraqi war, and have sent military resources to their allies in their many overseas military operations.
Also, even if they diplomatically have maintained good relations with their former colonies, they absolutely are not charitable when it comes to international trade or big development projects like these ones. This video is straining to defend both duterte and china, yet is seemingly forced to put in some caveats for its apologetics.
So, did china (tried to) fool the philippines? YES.
Did duterte FAIL in his embarassing lapdog style pivot to china? YES.
Fortunately for the Philippines, the loans did not pan out for reasons that this video glossed over: China has been experiencing financial meltdown, which arguably even started pre pandemic. And their financial troubles are intensifying. Its belt and road initiative is facing headwinds and backlash from victim (yes, victim) countries and is a money pit. What's left for the philippines then, esp for a country whose people largely look at china as an untrustworthy bully (despite the best efforts of the popular duterte for the phils to warm up to china)? Close to nothing, of course. More time? Don't count on it. China itself is running out of time.
It's just LUCK that saved the Philippines from the onerous debt terms set by china. It's just LUCK that duterte failed in furthering the economic misery the philippines is still currently under.
As to the WPS issue. It was the Aquino administration that filed and won its case for the philippines, not duterte. Duterte, in fact, defended China when china bullied philippine fishermen on several occassions.. with duterte always giving the lame excuse that the philippines wont win a war with china. Duterte also frequently badmouthed the US and threatened to cancel the US-PH visiting forces agreement. Duterte was essentially under china's strings! So your analysis is off.
As an aside, duterte's BBB initiative has largely FAILED in its implementation.
