I can't believe it's that easy. I've spent 19 years of my life hating the sound of my own voice in recording and being embarassed whenever people pointed out I spoke with a lisp. Because of this video, i figured out that was because I pronounced s ounds it by hissing air out of the side of my mouth instead of pushing air through the front. Thank you so much.

Its funny because my wife's name is Lacy and my daughter's middle name is rose and I can suddenly say their names right. My daughter doesn't seem to be a fan so far lol

@@ellenfrankspeechtherapy I honestly had no.idea what I was doing wrong. I had a speech therapist in elementary school, and SHE had a lisp and instilled it in me. I wasn't moving my tongue up. I was getting air around it. Not a strong lisp, an airy one. But, its totally gone now and feels so weird, because I still have to be conscious of the movements.

    Dear Ms/Mrs. Unknown??
I was searching for a Speech Therapist to help my wife pronounce words better because she is from Costa Rica and although she has been a citizen since 2008 and is 57, she needs help to talk clearer for her new business.
I am 60 and was born with a cleft pallet and cleft lip. I haven’t had Speech Therapist since kindergarten and although my lip was repaired… my pallet repair failed so I still have a hole leading to my sinuses causing my speech to be off but still understandable.
My wife and I tried another Speech Therapist just before finding you and we agree that you are the person we want to study under so thank you 🫵 for your kindness in helping people such as us online.🙏 😇

OMG, it was challenging but worth it. I was born almost completely deaf due to an inner ear defect. They were able to restore my hearing to almost 100% through multiple surgeries.
Then I spent years in speech therapy while we moved throughout the country. I’m an Army brat.
Anyway I picked up a subtle southern & a thick Jersey accent very young. So when we moved back west I had speech therapy to get rid of the accents. Well it had my little self confused & left with silabant S’s.
I do voice acting now but can’t afford speech therapy. This video helped me to know exactly what I was doing wrong.
Thank you so much! This will help me in my VA career immensely! 💜

Just under an hour of doing the exercises in the exact way you described has me pronouncing a clear, crisp “S” sound after decades of shame and embarrassment.
All this time I gave myself the excuse that it was caused by my crooked top front teeth and overbite (where my top row of teeth extends beyond my lower row of bottom teeth. Train wreck of teeth if I’m being quite honest, but I’m deciding not to put it as an excuse anymore.
The habit is still ingrained in me, but I’ll continue every day until the new habit is formed. Your video is worth more than piles of gold. It literally saves so much angst. I can finally say my own first and last names. *_THANK YOU!!!_*

Unbelievable. My mind is blown. I was born with a cleft palate and started with speech therapy when I was 3 years old until I was a freshman in Highschool. They could never get me to say a crisp "s", "z", or silent "c" sound all that time. After watching your video literally one and a half times, it finally clicked! I always kept my tongue in the middle of my mouth when I'd pronounce my "s" sounds, knowing they sounded awful but didn't know what I was doing wrong. I was told where to put my tongue, but never to just move the air through my front teeth. I recorded myself while doing your exercises and I was stunned at how good my "s" sounds sounded! All it was, was just a soft "t" sound. Now that I know how to do this, I will still watch this daily for a while and follow along while recording myself. My muscle memory will be hard to break, but I will keep trying every single day. Thank YOU SO MUCH!! For 43 years I have been doing it wrong! You have no idea how much this will change my life.

I'm 17, and had oral surgery one week ago. The surgeon's had to remove four teeth and now I can't say s, t or z properly. I knew I had to learn my abcs again so I came to your video and I must say this video has helped me and my s's TREMENDOUSLY. Thank you!!

Oh gosh, I have braces, grew up with a lisp and had a tongue cradle put in my mouth to train my tongue to fix its placement. I do however ALSO have to get four molar teeth pulled😭now I’m scared that I’m gonna start lisping again

People have made fun of my slight lisp over the years... I couldn't find someone who could help me with speech therapy and this video was the first time I heard myself say the 's' properly. I can still slightly hear my lisp as I'm recording my voice and listening to it, but it's getting much better and I'm determined to fix it. Thank you so much.

Doing these exercises with my almost 6yo boy who had tongue and lip tie revisions as a baby. These videos help make it fun for him. (That and the promise of a Lego set once he masters it lol) thank you!
