Thank you so much for the lesson Emma. I'm a native Spanish speaker and I've been looking for this info a long time. By the way, your laugh is so contagious and you have a really beautiful smile and energy. Good job!
Thank you so much for this. I'm 31 years old ... As a kid, I was picked on for having a lisp. I feel like I FINALLY understand how to make the 's' sound from watching your video!
I watched this video a number of times. Because the pronunciation of /s/ was very challenging to me. Plus, I watched a lot of other videos related to this topic too. This is the best and the most helpful video among them. The most important thing was touching the blade of the tongue and post alveolar.
Thank you so much for such as clear, great and helpful video! It was thanks your explanation I finally could pronounce both sounds correctly! You have a new follower from now on!
Hi, a question I am having hard time placing my tongue and teeth to pronounce some words with S in them. For complementing the pronunciation. Do I have to clash a bit my front teeth?
Thank you so much for clarifying the pronunciation. May I assume if the nouns ending with -er, -or, the plural s should be pronounced /z/? For examples, sneakers/z/, teachers/z/ ?
A lovely lesson. You are a perfect teacher of English pronunciation. You have explained everything in an easy and nice way. So charming. Best wishes and greetings, Paul and Gosia 🌞 🧡 🌤 🌹 ⛱ 🌅 🧡 😊 🌞 🌟 🍀 🇵🇱 🏝 🏖 🌅 🧡 💙
I am a German living in the US, and I often have to spell my last name. Unfortunately it has a C in it. I always struggle with making the C not a Z when I spell my name.
The art of intonation reading when the people of the Arabic language!. pronunciation-(fanu altajwid alqira'at eind 'ahl allughat alearabiati!) Language and the art of learning, every language is spoken by the people of this language! And when the science! And the time of life, a lesson in the pronunciation of letters, thank you...
i really think the /s/ and /z/ is one of the hardest part in advanced level of spoken English as there is actually no clues, no patterns, no rules to tell when an 's' in a word pronounces as /s/ or /z/. the only way is to check the dictionary. e.g. design /z/, assign /s/, dessert /z/, use (noun) /s/, use (verb) /z/, release /s/, please /z/, chase /s/, phase /z/
Usually if there's a voiced sound before it, or if it's between two vowel sounds or two voiced sounds, it's /z/ (and of course it's the opposite for /s/), however, there are so many words which don't follow these rules. However, endings tend to be quite regular when it comes to plurals, otherwise, again, it's a bit of a jungle 😅
