- Complete car review of the Lexus RC F, one of the most underrated luxury coupes on the market, primarily because it has a face only a mother could love... BUT, it carries the naturally aspirated V8 torch for the luxury segment -- not insignificant -- and other than it's visage, it's quite good looking, especially in F trim. It certainly deserved more respect than it gets. What do you think?

I love Lexus front ends, I don't understand the hate they get. Definitely looks better than the new BMW 4 series.

@@jax1079 Yes, but the old one was boring and generic looking as well. Looks are subjective, and to me the RC F looked way better than the indistinguishable BMW sedans and coupes.
@@davidding8814 I agree in some ways. I think the overall balance of the RCF's design falls short, not the Lexus grill by itself. The LC500 and new IS prove that the grill designcan be elegant and evocative when proportioned correctly. The new M4 is a nightmare from every angle.
I would be happy to have this in my garage.
Good review. People sometimes take the whole chassis being built using existing design of three different cars out of context. It is just the design. Chassis is built all as unibody from scratch. Lexus figured, the existing available chassis were not good enough for them to put in their leading sports compact car competing against the M4. Also, Lexus wanted to homologate the RCF for GT3 racing (which it does now and wins). There is so much work that was done to make it the most rigid chassis Lexus had built up until that point (this side of the LFA). Lexus said, it was 50% more rigid than the GS and IS chassis back in 2015. There are braces added everywhere. Underneath, engine bay, behind the rear seats, doors, sills, underbody etc to give it an exceptionally stiff and sporty chassis. Despite being 3900 lbs, it can put almost 1.00 g down on the skidpad as per C&D test. The chassis was designed using existing components, but it is a ground-up built chassis and the suspension was designed just for the RCF. For example, RCF's suspension is 80% different than the RC350's chassis. Rest of it was good review. The throttle response and best transmission shifts happen in sport+ with manual mode on. If one has the TVD then slalom mode is the best one.
Welp, just bought the RCF... love it so far. It's comfortable and quick. A lot of these reviews saying it's slow or sluggish. I can get that for on the track but honestly on the streets this is WAY more than anything anyone needs . I'm hoping it's typical lexus/toyota quality and maintenance it I hope to be driving it for many years. It's nice having an 8 cylinder. This is my first n/a 8.

@@hirise9419 Still have the car. Enjoy it. Beautiful to look at. I put an Invidia catback exhaust so it sounds like how it should have from the factory. Isn't obnoxious at all. I also added power folding mirrors. That was an expensive mod but totally worth it. I'm now looking at getting a 992 GTS...lol. I'll still keep the RCF. It's a wonderful car that you don't see everywhere.

Fantastic edits, JAX. I think the grille works with the bulging fender flares of this RCF. And you're correct, the powertrain is sweet! Aging (read: old?) technology on this one, but still a great drive that you want to drive everyday...all day. I call it Lexus Magic.👍🏾

I have a 2016 Lexus RCF carbon fiber/TVD model (the highest upgrade below the TE) and your review is pretty much spot on. I have had it for 3 years and the engine never gets old. The added rigidity has both its good side and bad side. The added weight is because of the reinforcements in the doors, sills, in the trunk and also underbody. It is around 3900 lbs, but everything these days weighs more because of all of the engineering, but it is only a few tenths slower than the M4 around most of the tracks. Anyway, good review overall and I get lots of compliments from everyone in real life of how it looks.

@@jax1079 Yes, I had zero problems in 3 years of ownership. Regarding question of the GSF, I drove the GSF as well. It is a great car as well. Major difference between the two cars, is the size. RCF is a lot smaller than GSF so it feels more nimbler and more responsive with the short wheelbase and also somewhat stiffer chassis/suspension. It is also lighter by around 100 lbs. However, you get a lot more practicality in the GSF in return and TVD comes standard. Also, the car has a jekyll and hyde personality. In order to get everything most aggressive, it needs to be in sport+ and manual. It stiffens up everything. The steering, throttle response, AVS (Mine is a 2016 so it is stiff all the time) etc. Also, when you keep it in high rpms, it will be the most responsive since it assumes you are at the track since one is always in high rpms on the race track. @@kchen101 It revs very fast and most of the power is in the high rpms. However, the powerband is very broad. The power is available from 4000 rpm all the way to just under 7500 rpm. It is a flat powerband with a surge at the top rpm. So, it is not like VTEC where power is only at high rpm and nothing below it. However, it does surge at the top rpm and also the engine is very rev happy and revs very freely considering it is a big 5.0 Liter V8. It feels like a much smaller engine.
As always, the cinematography is beautiful! I AM HERE for the swap from day to night as well. Such a good job, love it.

I test drove one and went 0-60 at each light. haha. But felt like a boat to me so didn’t go with it. It was the RCF for me. I prefer the small cabin feel and have never owned a two door either. @@snowcountry322 I'm a big fan of red, but I actually really liked the metallic sort of pearl white of this test car, especially with the gorgeous matching carbon fiber inserts inside. If it was available, I think a dark grey color helps compliment the lines better, but this white and the blue look really nice and bold. Red is probably my least favorite on this particular model.

It's funny I think the front end on the RSF is actually one of the nicest out of the Lexus line. My wife has an NX and that front end is so ugly to me. Even the GSF looks like the front end isn't as nice. I just wish the exhaust note was louder. For a NA 8 cylinder making over 400hp it just seems underwhelming. Doesn't have to sound AMG like but open it up somewhat lexus or give variable exhaust button like most other manufactures. Also how tall are you. I'm wondering about the headrest since it's not movable how it would be for a taller person?
The front end does work well here, and I think it fits the overall character of the car better than it does on some other models (like the NX). Thanks for watching!

Also the face isn’t that bad lol canon it’s not a 2021 buck tooth BMW I don’t like the wheels though they could have been more concave and wider and also the cars weight even though it’s a Gt could be reduced . I have a fully optioned out RCF with carbon fiber roof and wing which doesn’t do anything for the weight but looks way better haha . The exhaust is also extremely heavy and muffled when you add a full aftermarket exhaust it sounds like a built American muscle car . Mustang and Camaro drivers look at me like they are tripping balls and hearing something that shouldn’t be real . One thing I don’t get is why all the car reviewers only try sport mode ?? It also has a Sport + , slalom and track mode . And when you combine the sport + with track mode then turn off traction all the way you unlock expert mode . Which will pop up on the screen . This allows the tires to spin no electronic interruptions quicker throttle more weighted steering and stiffer suspension. Some RCFs have torque vectoring like mine which make a huge difference in cornering . Just saying try the expert mode next time . One more thing when you think you have it floored you actually need to push a bit further till you feel a button of sorts to go down then your actually at full throttle if you look under the gas pedal you see it .

It's pretty high quality plastic, but there's a lot of it. Too much for the price in my opinion, but it's not offensive, just not very stylish in some areas.
The front end is what makes it look good. Without it it would just look like a normal car. It is the essence of the rc and or lexus. I think its only you that don't like the front not the masses. In that case I dont know why you made this elaborated video on this car if you dont even like the front end. I know i wouldn't and waste my time on it.

Hard to say, actually. You could also look at it as a bit of a unicorn since it's still naturally aspirated, which would make it even more desirable. If you're not using it as a daily, it might retain some level of value in the next decade. Only time will tell. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻
