Great stuff. We can no longer keep our fisher in our region which is frustrating since there are plenty. Just caught 2 in the last 3 days, but I have to turn them in.

Noticed the Northwoods #200, the slight bend in the corner of the jaws. I actually used one of those traps to catch 6 beaver at a den entrance in Virginia in 45 minutes. I remember reaching into the channel up into the house and feeling a live beaver, but that's another story. Used to like trapping fisher in the dead of winter in the Adirondacks late 60's, early 70's, late December, January, February, into March, deep snow, below zero weather when the fur is best. Everyone agrees that the New York season is too early, well before fisher are prime. The season should be opened when it now closes, even if it is a shorter season. At least the fur would be top quality. Fisher are definitely a really neat critter. Wish I could take time from the ADC line to fur trap, especially fisher. At least I get to live it through others. One local trapper got 27 fisher in two weeks. Love to hear the stories.

"there was a time that would bring $200". And that wasn't just a tank of gas there and back to the line -- that was almost an average family's monthly budget. It'd be awesome if we could get back to that. 25 x $200 = $5K / year. That added up quick back in the day.

Howdy Guys, My husband and I lived in Lake Placid for 3.5 years...I worked over at the Olympic CC Venue during the first winter...we got
along great with our landlord out on Old Military Road...she had a couple of run-in's with Fisher Cats out near us walking out on the back trail to John Brown's Farm...the damn thing went up a tree after a squirrel, and then squaked and screamed with joy of fresh meat...after that she always carried a side arm, just in case...Cheers from Maine.
