They introduced some hydrogen buses in London a few years ago which produced some steam, very environmentally friendly but for some reason had limited success.
Yeah as it stands right now hydrogen vehicles are still quite expensive to operate and maintain compared to battery buses. Plus the production and use of hydrogen as a fuel, while completely green, is nowhere near as efficient as using batteries. Like about half the energy put in to getting hydrogen fuel doesn't come out again on the other end to power the vehicle. Though for now especially hydrogen still has the upper hand with about twice as much range as any equivalent battery vehicle and a refuelling time on par with petrol vehicles like diesel buses. But hydrogen infrastructure isn't as readily available as charging infrastructure for EV's too.

Still. Solaris and others have a faith in Hydrogen, so I think we will see more of this in the future
