A rather nice ending to Jaleco, honestly. Jaleco had been producing a lot of Famicom games that not a lot of people remembered, and some of the memorable ones that people remembered are infamous (Urusei Yatsura and the first Moero Pro Yakyuu were two that I could think of being the worst of them, though I think there were more that are just unpleasant to play). At least some stuffs they made later on are quite enjoyable. Pizza Pops happens to be my favourite from them, though Totally Rad and the second Saiyuuki World game was quite good.
People moan about Tose, but this is one of those "if you give them time and money, Tose can make something ok, well kinda mid really... I guess" Also, note that they splurged for the players' names much like the original Tecmo Bowl. For such a late era Famicom game, Jaleco really wanted to go out with a bang.
Jaleco have made/published some good stuff - like Totally Rad, Astyanax or Whomp 'Em - but most of it was either bad or average at best. This one... well, it's not bad - not a bad way for them to leave the Famicom for good - but I'd rather play Blades of Steel. The Jajamaru games were rereleased not so long ago, both in Japan and in the West, so at least there's that.
Yup this does look a lot like the EA hockey games. This is about a year before NHL 94 comes out which even to this day is considered one of the best sports games of all time
I've been eyeing these episode counts and the date for the last couple of weeks and god, it would be so amazing if Hoshi no Kirby landed on episode 1,000, but we're like two weeks out (March 6th vs. 23rd) and it's seeming unlikely unless we just skip over Empire Strikes Back 😮💨
Goodbye, Jaleco. I love Jaleco's Famicom games... really, even the dreck. Currently, Pinball Quest is my only large Famicom cart, and I happen to have it complete in box. I don't have a lot to say about this game itself. It's a rather boring way for them to go out, I feel (though a lot of final Famicom games from companies are boring sports games.)
Never played this one but I'd bet it's at least decent. I did enjoy Hoops and the first Bases Loaded, even though sports games weren't really my thing back then.
It was nice knowing you Jaleco
also tomorrow is episode 1000! How crazy is that?
The beginning of the end
goodbye jaleco the most mid company

4:42 Correction: the original NHL Hockey was released on the Japanese Mega Drive under the name *Pro Hockey* by Electronic Arts Victor in 1992.

Kirby isn't 1000, but you'll see everyone's favorite pink puffball very soon.

It was a poor man’s NHL93.
@@BigBrain61that's the impression I got from his review, yeah.
Something about this game looks and sounds very Konami
