    Not all white people. I’m from the south. If I was acting up, my dad wouldn’t even say anything. He’d walk to his room and I’d hear him popping that belt all the way back down the hall so I’d know what’s coming. He’d fold that belt in half and pop it. Most terrifying sound as a child. 😂 one time I saw my older brother bow up to him and get in his face and my dad knocked him back on the floor. This wasn’t abuse. If you discipline your children when they are young, the will become better adults. If you don’t discipline your kids you are doing them a disservice as a parent. It teaches respect.

But yeah men, my Dads method was always good, he would never loose is temper when I was younger simply spanked for discipline but very calmly. Also he would always teach us a lesson about what we did and why we where getting what we got. And he would usually only do it for very serious situations other then that a stern voice for lesser but never yelled like some parents just loosing it lol. He had great patience and good methods, which was also impressive even because at his age most wouldn’t being parents lol. I respect his ways very much.

    Instead of beatings beingbthe focus of character reform, my dad focused on being not only a dad but a friend to me and my siblings. So instead of beating respect into us we respected and obeyed him because we wanted to. Because he was our friend. And I gotta say that it worked a lot better than mainly beatings bc that way our obedience wasn't only when he was around but even at school or other places. But I did get a couple whoopings but only for a couple years of my life.

    *Oh, this brings back some crazy memories! My mom read a “Christian” parenting book that advised that parent’s to require their children to apologize AFTER the spanking. That flipped some bizarre switch in my head because I had figured that if I did do something wrong, got caught and earned a whipping then we were even, no hard feelings. I rarely was spanked because I was a straight up NERD who walked around always reading a book.*
    *I finally did something silly a few months later and had forgotten all about that lovely parenting book while my mom had not...
    I took my whipping and was drying my tears as I walked out of my parent’s room when she called me back and said “Well?”
    I was completely confused and just looked at her. Then it finally dawned on me that she was wanting an apology! I remember looking at her and saying “When a judge sentences a person to prison that person isn’t required to apologize TO THE JUDGE.” What ensued next was an epic battle where she’d whip me, demand an apology, I’d say “I cannot apologize because I was told to never apologize if it wasn’t sincere” and repeat!*
    *My twin sister was hysterically begging me to apologize and I just couldn’t do it because I knew I wouldn’t mean it AND by then I was pissed. The ordeal ended in a draw because my mom was literally too tired to keep swinging the belt and I was willing to die over the “unfairness.” Remember, I was only a child at the time!* 😂😂😂😂

    I am old enough to have met my father's leather belt many times back in the day. The one he made in the prison leather workshop. I was eventually given the option, belt or grounding. I chose the belt every time. Belt whooping can be done and forgotten about by the next day. Grounding was minimum a week. No thank you. I didn't want to sit and think about a smartass comment for a week. Plus, when you're a kid, food is always better at someone else's house. Grounding meant eating what we had for food all week. It wasn't great.

    We know this is just comedy, but it is inspired by reality. I must say though, I don't know where that "European that don't believe in beating your children" myth comes from, maybe there are one or two countries that stand out in the Union, but by and large its a legally enforced thing, not a moral one. Although, generally, millennial parents are soft af, like in the US.
    It isn't so much about literal beating, but more about standing your ground as a parent and making sure your kid understands and respects the boundaries you have set.
    Whether it's the kids fault or, by extent, the parents fault, some kids can be reasoned with without physical threat, but some do need that threat. Btw, beating kids is a physical action that is supposed to harm their ego, not so much their physical or psychological integrity, if it crosses into the latter that's what is considered abuse.

    • @maten328
      @maten328 4 года назад +2

      Didn't know Americans look at European parenting that way and I was kinda surprised by it. I mean sure we (vast majority) don't get a clinched fist in the face but there is a lot of shit going on here too. Also didn't get the ecstasy reference but hey, I guess he was on a roll lol.
      That being said, as a millennial myself, millennial parenting gonna fuck this world up.

    • @ner0p
      @ner0p 4 года назад +1

      @Big Lou I think you misunderstood my comment. What I said was a "myth" is about the father's belief that European countries have a more lenient approach to discipline just because he has a skewed view on European parents discipline over their children in contrast to USA's. I also think it is wrong to assume a ploy when it is nothing more than a cultural (de)evolution primarily driven by politics. I'm speaking from an European standpoint, we don't have the private prison schemes that the US does, yet the same reproachable lack of discipline exists. Color of skin isn't a factor as far as I'm concerned, parents are generally, now days, soft, naive, and shortsighted. They take their children's side even when they shouldn't, for some fkd up psychological reasoning, that eventually makes their children morally weaker, more disrespectful and unapologetic, and a burden to society.

    When I was a kid my parents beat me, even moderately to what is being described. However I think the wrong part about it was that I was a lonely kid. I didn't have many friends at school and I was bullied by kids and teachers alike. So when they beat me and left me to cry by myself when I made trouble in school, when most of the time I was just defending myself in school, it made me feel like nobody loved me. I would cry and forget about the beating later but I never forgot about the depression I felt.

      Depression is no joke, and I'm sorry you're being bullied. But you definitely have to be held responsible for the dumb shit you do. Sometimes it requires physical punishment, and sometimes it doesnt. A parent that has a kid that is bullied and with possible depression has a tougher job of it, for sure. Hope you're doing ok now

    That’s right beat and punishment. If I got in trouble in school I was less afraid of the school than my dad. I was give me the detention just don’t call my parents. The my dad would say don’t cry, I’ll give you something to cry about. Asian parents you get the slipper (flip flops), the backscratcher and I got the hot wheels track.
