    Blender is a good idea. Maybe could powder it then soak in hot water for 1hr. As its protein is water soluble.
    High heat could destroy its nutrients.
    Adding pure honey to it could increase lifespan and enrich it.

    YOu should concentrate it more, thicker - and, you can add Dickinson's Witch Hazel to make it last longer, refrigerated :)

    A few more things, I also thought about using a combo of green tea, white tea, and chamomile tea to hydrate the fungus, instead of plain water. I would just add a few tea bags of each to the pot of water with the fungus. What's your opinion on this? Also, can the fungus be re-dehydrated, or frozen, and used again? Last question (I promise), can the extra serum be frozen if it doesn't all fit in the bottle? I won't be drinking it.

      Did you ever figure out if you should wash off the serum or keep it on all day? I see it used as a mask so that's supposed to be washed off but I though serums stay on all day....I'm transitioning from store bought face regime to natural home made. Thank you

      green tea shouldn't be boiled, it should be brewed below 175F, I'd make a concentrated tea and mix into a thicker snow ear mushroom gel, just simmer longer. I would definitely drink it, just add to a smoothie.

      Joanna Corlett QQ DIY skin serum

    Does this serum have to rinsed off, or is meant to be worn on skin all day? I have quite a bit of dried snow fungus and I'm trying to think of all the ways I can incorporate it into my skin care regimen. I make all of my own skin products and for washing my face, I use cleansing grains. I thought about powdering some of the fungus and adding it to my daily wash. I also considered infusing some of in witch hazel to make a moisturizing toner. I saw a video of a woman who massages her face with the hydrated fungus, but she didn't say how often she does this or if she rinses her face afterwards. Is snow fungus SAFE to use every day?? Are there any known side effects? Sorry for so many questions.
    Thank you,
    Jen

      What type of washing grains do you use? Do you use microbeads as they are banning them now in most countries due to the damage they do to sea life? If you are using natural grains like crushed seeds, they actually damage the lower dermis of the skin mantle (I used to have a friend in Clinique who taught me about this) Take a look at AHA's if you have normal or dry skin and BHA's for greasy/combination. It exfoliates by gently peeling the dead skin instead and is much safer and kinder for both your skin and the environment. A true win/win i'd say :) xxx

      Joanna Corlett, No, I don't use microbeads. I only use natural materials and those are made of plastic. And I don't use seeds or nuts either because I'm allergic to a lot of them and they can cause microscopic scarring. I use a lot of different things, but rice powder is one of my favorite exfoliates. The water softens it just enough to eliminate the risk of scratches. I put jasmine rice in my magic bullet and grind it into a fine powder. Then I add some of it to my other ingredients. I use powdered fruit, yogurt, or milk for the acids. I have just about every kind of skin loving plant/natural material in the world. I have jars lined up all over my house and my husband hates it lol. I also do all of my own plant drying and powdering and I make my own liquid extracts. I make a powder version and an extract version of pretty much everything. I also grow every kind of beneficial plant that can survive in this climate. I own 4 city lots and they're covered in gardens. And I do a ton of wild crafting. Today, I went out to the woods and collected more white oak bark.

      @@jennyinthewoods7887 hi Jenny, this information was very helpful to me. Did you make your own liquid extract for this specific fungus and do you mix it with oils ever? Thank you!

    • @jennyinthewoods7887
      @jennyinthewoods7887 4 года назад

      @@emilysantino4337 Yes, I have made the liquid extract, and I use it as a mask. It evens out my skin tone and shrinks my pores. You'll notice a difference with the first use! Its such great stuff that I haven't needed to add anything else to it.

    Have you tried putting the fungus in a high speed blender so that you don't have to cook it so long?
