Thanks for watching! Did my spending for the week surprise you?? Also watch out for Spam comments below impersonating me, they always spam my money videos!
Looks like I need a boyfriend for some discounts lol. Anyways I love these kinds of videos. One of the things I’ve tried to cut down on is eating out. I decided to do a grocery subscription instead. I know you often go back into the office, but no one can convince me that being in an office full time everyday is better than WFH/hybrid.
@@christianen.4666 I use hello fresh. I order 3 meals which is 2 servings each so it basically gets me through the week. I get a new delivery each Sunday. Some might say it’s overpriced but I get to eat the foods I would normally spend too much money on with takeout. It’s $60 for 3 meals and $80 for 4 meals.
Hi Bukola just wanted to say, I'm 20 and watching your videos has been super inspiring! I used to think I wasn't smart enough for tech. But, for the past couple of months I have been studying programming and other CS skills, and now I'm in the application process for an immersive bootcamp with great CIRR outcomes. Hopefully I pass the technical interview. Keep doing what you do!
@@Bukola1 Definitely! I'm about to graduate with a CIS degree and doing the bootcamp after. Degrees look good for jobs, but I'll be honest most CS/CIS students learn practical skills on their own these days. Had a professor literally tell me everything on the job can be learned online lol. It's really great for learning the theory and concepts, though- like DS&A.
I nearly fainted when you totaled your expenses for the week. You have inspired me to tally my expenses for a month. My circumstances are completely different. I am a 68 year old retired woman living in Detroit. I own my home that I purchased as a single woman on my 34th birthday. Like a lot of women of a certain age, I don’t know how to set up a RUclips channel but I think I’m going to remedy that by taking a trip to the library. I have an iPhone 7, an iPad pro, a tripod, a ring light and a plug in lapel microphone. Let the spending begin!
I really adore your channel! :) Your videos inspired me to start learning to code, and your financial videos reminded me to plan my budget more thoroughly, thank you so much!
My rent for one week is £81.25, grocery food shop is £35 for two people (we take it in turns to pay) and then I go into work twice a week and use petrol (£8) and usually spend £10 on snacks/lunches (sometimes more sometimes less depending on if I bring my own food) so about £134 weekly! So interesting to see what other people spend in a week!
@While You Were Sleeping I live in London and spend waaaay less than Bukola. It’s definitely about lifestyle too. My household bills is pretty decent at £675 p/m for my portion, my grocery budget is £100 p/m (usually less) and transport is less than £100 p/m too. My discretionary / personal spending is £100 p/m & this isn’t even frugal to me. It’s a lifestyle. There’s lots of good deals in London too and I find public transport cheaper than outside of London.
This was so well done!! I love that you included base expenses so we get a full picture of everything that goes into it. As always, great editing and love the little details like providing chapters. Awesome video!!
Your videos inspire me so much! I’ve started teaching myself HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in hopes of becoming a front end web developer. I really never thought that I would be interested in it, but I actually am finding it really interesting! I hope that I can be ready to apply for jobs within 6 months. I’m an American living in Spain, and I live on $550 USD per month, including rent and utilities. I keep telling myself that I will make more money in the future. When I do, I will be prepared to budget thanks to all of my years of counting my pennies😅
Nice to know your expenses. When I lived in the Bay Area, I lived alone, so I unfortunately had to be way more cognizant of my spending (no one to share it with). My rent was around $2400 a month(the most affordable I could find in 2019, that had what I looked for) for a one BHK, and it was pretty decent. Yeah, Bay Area living is just as crazy expensive, and I lived in the least expensive part.
Bukola always bringing a cohesive video. As someone looking to eventually move out, this is some great insight especially on the aspect of managing finances
Really enjoyed this video! What are your thoughts on lifestyle creep? Ever since I started working in tech and making money, I've definitely noticed my general spending has gone up. In college, $940 is like what I'd spend over two months 😅
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think your lifestyle is supposed to improve and increase as you get older and make more money! As long as you’re hitting your savings and investing goals, you should be using money to enjoy your life
Hey Bukola! Great video as always. A little hack that i’ve learned is that most companies in NYC honor metro card purchases via your HSA card. If this is true for you, you could significantly reduce those path and metro card expenses. 😊
The fact that I had a reservation for Salinas made months ago (I live in Montreal, Canada) and just had to cancel because my trip buddy (my aunt) cannot make it from France anymore. *keeps on watching* 😅
If I don't leave my apartment, I spend $0. If I do leave my apartment, I'm mostly likely spending $5-10 per day on something food related at the grocery store so I could make it at home cheaper than take out lol. But I'm sure our budgets are relatable, just on a different scale. Still meeting those savings/investing goals though!
Marriage is definitely the main driver behind retirement and/or generational wealth. I wish our community would really push that message more. Anyway another great video; nice work.

$1,400 for that apartment is amazing!! Minus the roommate and being in Jersey, that’s still a great deal. I was paying $1,500 a month for a basement apartment in Long Island with no washer/dryer or dishwasher.
2 bed 2 bath for 2900 a month? What a steal. I’m looking to move to NYC shortly and have been looking at rentals, yet nothing decent in the city prices under 4000, parking is another 500.
