The funny thing about "Jack's dad" played by Keith Richards is when Johnny Depp did the first movie, he said he played Jack Sparrow like a drunk Keith Richards, so having Keith Richards cameo as his actual dad in the film was hilarious!!
Is there a non-drunk Keith Richards?
@@darkzer0670 true statement 😂 - just referencing how JD put it.
@@darkzer0670 There is a non-drunk Keith Richards, but the thing is that non-drunk Keith Richards is always stoned.
"The world is still the same, there's just less in it" - Captain Jack Sparrow that's one powerful phrase
it really is
CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow!
@@HateAndPenetrate you are absolutely right pal
The End of The Age of Sail...
applies in 2023 for sure
I've always figured that "nine pieces of eight" is just a pirate miscommunication of "nine pieces of fate"
Makes more sense.
And the crew of the Dutchman were only monsters because Jones had been ignoring his duty of ferrying souls.
Pieces of eight refers to silver, if I remember correctly. The Spanish Silver Dollar was the standard currency at the time for international commerce. The silver coins were often literally clipped into halves until there were eight pieces as a means to "make change" kinda how today we "break a dollar" bill into coins.
As for there being 9 pieces of 8. That was pirates displaying that they had their own system outside of the legal international commerce laws. Basically, a black market that was unregulated by anyone but themselves.
Here it's also symbolic with how they bond the goddess of the sea, Calypso, with their treasures just like international commerce laws bond businesses and banking together.
20:07 "I hope Will ends up getting the sword back"
Davy Jones does give the sword back to Will, in a manner of speaking. 32:46
Nice prediction!
DAMN I WAS JUST ABOUT TO COMMENT THIS😂
A was searching for this comment lmao
My understanding of how come Elizabeth can't come on Will's ship is because Davy Jones/The Flying Dutchman was never supposed to be in the mortal world in the first place. He was supposed to stay in the upside down ocean/spiritual world and guide the lost souls. Jones became an octopus because he didn't fulfil this duty, since will is still human after 10 years we can see Will did what he was supposed to.
in the 5th movie We can see that He Also left his job
In the 1st scene of 5th movie
And that's why Jack didn't want to captain the Flying Dutchman, because he, like Davy Jones, would not have fulfilled his duty. And he didn't want his face to be all 'tentacly'.
But what stops her from joining the crew then? Is there a "no girls allowed" policy aboard the Dutchman?
@@TheKrislaf no but would you doom the love of your life to a life in a ship in another lonely world even if it is with you?
@@TheKrislaf The unfortunate thing about that is that their child would be left without any parents.
I don't think this trilogy gets enough credit that it deserves. It's a fantastic trilogy with a great arc. Little call backs that link the three very nicely. Elizabeth knowing that a captan could preform a wedding on board, thanks to Jack telling her. Plus the biggest yet small unnoticeable moment that passed me by multiple times. The fact that Will gets murdered by the very same sword he made in the first film for Norrington. Everything was top notch and everyone did a fantastic job. The CGI holds up and arguably better than some CGI today and this was made in the mid 2000's.
And when Will gets the knife from his father he vows that he won't stop until that blade has pierced Jones heart - which it does
I'm so glad you watched and liked all of these! Makes my little pirate heart happy!
The scene with the Pearl and Dutchman sailing towards the Endeavour is my favourite
In case it's not already been said in the comments.... Jack's Dad is played by Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones... homage to the fact that Johnny Depp based the entire Jack Sparrow character on Keith Richards.
That makes sense. But, I still think 🤔 Jack sparrow is afraid 😳 of his dad for some reason.
The way Geoffrey Rush delivers his lines are just incredible. “It’s gettin’ bAAAAaaack…” 😏
Dying is the day worth living for.
As far as I'm concerned, one of the greatest movie trilogies of all time.
For me this is the end of Pirates of the Caribbean movies. It is a complete story and a good end rather than just milking the franchise and extending the story along.
Actually Jack never wanted to be the captain of the Flying Dutchman, as that would require of him to ferry the dead. He wanted to get rid of Davy Jones, but not at that cost.
"Our destiny's have been entwined Elizabeth but never joined" RIP Mr Norrington
Man, there's actually quite a few deleted scenes that were cut from these movies that give more context, such as Elizabeth's father's death.
And "People aren't cargo, mate."
So what happened? How did her father die?
When Tia Dalma tells everyone that Jack is closer than you think in the locker she's holding a crab. She later turns into crabs, so she also helped him leave by having him and the Pearl meet them at the shore as well as guiding everyone there with Barbosa.
She knew she'd need the court to unbind her
Also someone once pointed out that Calipso's symbol for this movie was chosen as crabs as they're the prey of octopus, aka the Kraken, a symbol of Davy's anger
I highly recommend checking out the deleted scenes for this movie. Quite a few good scenes were cut, and they are worth a looksie.
I remember when this movie came out, it was criticized for being too complicated and full of politics. But right now, this is my favorite pirates movie. It's extremely well written, and most of the clever stuff doesn't go over my head anymore.
Yes, the backstory of Jack and Backett is quite heavy...a shame they cut it.
On the other side, once you watched the deleted scenes you cant take Sao Fengs death serious anymore. "Calypso i make you captain... you must .... my beard !🤣🤣
Nice reaction, as always, Addie. At World's End is an epic conclusion to the two film story arc with Dead Man's Chest. A little heads up, On Stranger Tides will have a brief snake-related moment. You can do this, please be brave. BTW, nice shacket and great rhyming at 34:50.
BTW, I do suggest Hard Boiled (1992), The Replacement Killers (1998), The Corruptor (1999), Anna and the King (1999), and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000) for more Chow Yun-Fat movies.
Hans Zimmer's score really sold this movie
15:59 I think Jack plans the broad outline of the goals he wants to achieve like living forever at sea but then he takes the opportunities that arise to accomplish those goals so it is a bit of both 29:43 "How in the world did he do that?" Addie should know by now that he's "Captain Jack Sparrow savvy?"
I really enjoyed watching yiu see these Movies Addie. Thanks for taking us along on the ride.
10:54-11:16 This was the Funniest thing of the Whole Movie...
For me at least.
The reason why Will can't have Elizabeth on the ship is because his job is to carry the souls of the dead to their resting place. People die every day and if he doesn't do the job he starts turning like Davy Jones did. That and he spends the time in the land of the dead rather than the land of the living.
15:55 jack makes many plans all at once, when one goes wrong, he mooves to the next one
ps. notice how he always destroy the main mast of the ship so the ship cannot follow him, he did it on the first movie as well, because a ship speed decrease extremly wighout the main mast
To answer the question about why they cant go on the flying dutchman, its because Will Turner is spending all his time ferrying the aouls of the damned, like Davy Jones was supposed to do. He can't really swing by to pick up and drop off Elizabeth all the time
He’s busy with his responsibilities to the Dutchman ferrying the dead of the sea
Love watching this movie in theaters! The whole experience was amazing! There was a lot of action, sadness, and one wild adventure in this movie! I’m glad you like the movie, Addie! 15:48 was hilarious! You were just as surprised as Barbossa was, lol!
It’s been almost 16 years since, I first saw this third movie as a 10 year old boy.
@Addie Counts you should definitely still continue the franchise 🏴☠️
My absolute favourite of the movies.
He can't visit because abandoning his post was what cursed Davy Jones and the crew.
Please keep going. The next ones are just as good each time or even better.
This is my favorite of the Pirates films. I loved seeing you shed a few tears. :)
I remember seeing this film at a midnight premiere. Some people don't like how long the film is or how much lore is dropped in the film. As a Tolkienist, that's why this is my favorite of the Pirates of the Caribbean film, plus the international feel of all the pirates. Besides this film, growing up, the only non-European pirates I ever saw were the pirates from Swiss Family Robinson.
One of the BEST series ever. (IMO) I liked how they went ahead 10 years at the end. Great reactions to the film too, Addie. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Perfect ending for the trilogy
Will & Elizabeth are just the best lovers, galdly Will accomplished the 10 years task and wasn't corrupted like Davy Jones.
i will never forget that the home media release of this came with an FAQ booklet to try and clear up some of the plot points because they realized the script had been recut and redrafted so many times nobody could understand what the FUCK was going on in the movie.
Will must ferrie the souls of the dead or he'll become like Davy Jones so Elizabeth and their son can't visit him at least not for a long time.
I remember this film being one of my first experiences in theaters. I was probably 8 at the times and it was insane seeing a beloved trilogy end with such an epic finale.
It's a little cheesier than its predecessors but still ridiculously fun and entertaining with a spectacular climax.
As I got older I also notice that even that beautiful, Will and Elizabeth had a really tragic "ending". That scene at the beach is really beautiful.
And the music man, oh the music of this film !!. All the three films have a superb soundtrack but the man was just ON FIRE when he was composing the score for this one. So epic, so emotional and so memorable... Easily on my top 3 soundtracks of all time.
It's not a flawless film in the end of course, but I really love this one, it's was an excellent way to end the trilogy, at least the trilogy of movies that really matter.
Thanks) Your reactions to a particular movie are interesting)
Crazy how will died by the same sword he made
Hi, Addie.
Could I just make a request on your audio processing for your videos?
I often find that the movie audio is a little quiet, not too much, but when you exclaim something your voice and perhaps the mic and room combine to be quite a harsh, loud tone. I often listen on earbuds and it can be borderline painful at times.
Would it be possible to EQ your mic track and/or put some compression on it to just take out some of the high/mid peaks?
Thanks!!
20:06 He certainly gets it.
I accidentally saw this movie like 7 times in theaters. First 3 were on purpose, the next few I just happened to be with people who wanted to go see it spontaneously.
Anyway, I recommend the next movie, "On Stranger Tides." Some people don't like it, but I do. Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz are great in it, and I just all around enjoy it.
15:00 Beckett doesn't have any interest in Elizabeth. There's a line that Will says to Beckett in Dead Man's Chest, "What mark did he (Jack) leave on you?", the answer is that Jack castrated Beckett after he was branded as a pirate for freeing slaves that Beckett was transporting.
There's some disagreement on the issue, but some people think it's heavily implied that, with Will fulfilling his 10 year duty, he breaks the curse and will be allowed to return.
P.S. I think you will enjoy the rest of the Pirates of the Caribbean, I did. 😉
That's Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. Johnny Depp modeled Jack Sparrow on Keith Richards, so it makes sense Keith would be his father.
Addie: "I hope that Will ends up getting that sword back"
Me: "Don't worry he does (boy is it gonna be awkward when she realises.......)"
"I'm sure you regret this endeavor."
I'm not sure if that's intentional or not considering Beckett's ship is called the Endeavour."
FINALLY, I'm so happy, this is my favorite out of all "pirates"
pirates of the caribbean 2 and 3 is the best from all their trilogy
agree, 1st is a classic but it's not all that amazing on a rewatch compared to these two
I think it might be a moral for the story. If you look at all the treasure we see in these movies it seemed like the pirates weren't in want. So, perhaps they have learned that life, or living life, is more important then wealth or greed. Just exaggerated to an obsession level.
When I watched "At world's end" with my mum (76 years young) mum was blown away by the child being hung.
But still liked the movie
The reason they're so alike is that Depp modeled Sparrow's behavior after Keith Richards. So they then cast Richards as his father. Richards had such on site charisma that he actually started playing a tune randomly on the ukulele and the whole set just stopped to listen.
You need to watch PotC4 and especially 5 ;)
sadly, the dutchman is a ship for the dead as is explained later(sort of) so elizabeth and his son can't visit him on board.
yes the next 2 movies complete the series but do create new questions. & Only wish i had someone that would have my heart, but no one yet has cut it out
pls make reactions on the 2 last movies
Jack : have not
Jack : have not
Keith Richards plays Captain Jack Sparrow's father.
Will has to go to the locker to harbor souls into the next world and you have to be dead to be in the locker, that’s why Elizabeth and her son Henry can’t go.
Ha ha loved Keith Richard’s as jacks dad as Jack was inspired by Keith Richards
Will you di reaction to On the strange tides?
38:50 he has to ferry the dead and can’t just hang out
24:30 his accent makes me laugh 😆 so hard when, I was 10 years old.
29:42 because Addie....he's Captain Jack Sparrow. 😆
It was fun to see a ship millions of miles from an ocean in the salt flats.
Normally this is the place for land speed record, not slow ship records😂😂
Originally, the movie creators said that Will could now come ashore more often than once every ten years since he’d been doing the job. But then movie five came along and ruined it
Addie, your reactions to this movie were wonderful.
As was the movie's cameo appearance by (The Rolling Stones) Keith Richards as Captain Jack Sparrow's father.
He really has the rugged look for it. :P
Do you gonna watch also the 4th and 5th? 😮
There's a reason Jack father reminds you of Jack. Johnny Depp has said he models the roles he plays on real people. In one interview he claimed that Willie Wonka was based on Marilyn Manson but in another he said he was thinking of a stoned George W. Bush. His inspiration for Jack Sparrow was reportedly Keith Richards, so it was only natural that Richards was cast to play his dad. Initially, Jack's dad was supposed to appear in the second movie, but Richards had scheduling conflicts, so that couldn't happen.
0:00 Well, there can only be one Pirate King. And she ain't it.
Your not wrong, there is no reason that boat could not just anchor off coast whenever Will wanted to loophole it; he just cant set foot on land for 10 years nothing is stopping her from going to sea.
Keep continue ! You do a great job! 🙂 You will enjoy next parts of the movie...
Idk if you know this but the scene where they destroy Beckett's ship is done practically or mostly practically they shot it once to get the actors and they shot it again while destroying it
If you didn't know, Jack's dad (Captain Teague) is portrayed by Kieth Richards, Rolling Stones' guitarist :)
22:16 this is one of the best presentations of romantic dynamics put to film. It's so understated but it really shows both the Micro and Macro dynamics. Man loves a woman as dynamic as the sea but breaks his own heart expecting her to be something she's not so he rejects his purpose and corrupts himself while his heart is always with her.
"Drink up me hearties, Yo-ho."
And so, Jack is off on another adventure...
Captain Teague is played by Rolling Stones guitarist and rock legend Keith Richards, who is the inspiration for Jack Sparrow according to Johnny Depp.
Elizabeth Swann is one of the best characters ever
Teal looks really good on you Addie!
"The one who stabs the heart must replace it with their own." In other words - if you kill the captain of the Flying Dutchman, you become the new Captain with your heart being cut out and put in the chest.
I wish you would have included at least a few seconds of them singing at the beginning before dying, that song gives chills every time, I guess copyright might have played a part too
Um.... you've watched Silence of the Lambs... The Shining... Alien...
You watch this and then get grossed out by someone putting a fake eye in their mouth and putting it back where it came from?? I'll give you a pass, this time! jk jk
That was priceless though! I'm going to have to clip that and re-watch it a few dozen times!
Take care, Addie!!
Hey Addie! This may be something you’ve addressed already as I’m just working my way through your MCU reactions, but you should leave at least a 15 second window at the end of your videos after reminding us to like and subscribe so there is time to hit the like before the video cuts off. 😊
So yeah... the next movies... do yourself the favor and don't watch them.
They are cheap, Soulless, money grabs.
Someone once pointed out that when Calipso/Tia Dalma says "it's my nature, would you love me if I was anything else" she's referring to being the sea.
But Davy Jones wanted her in human form, which we wasn't, so he bound her to human form
Why Barbossa cut jack's hair jewel coin at 26:01 ? And Why Barbossa didnt want to give Jack to enemy Side? You think this?
Because Barbossa needed to jack's coin to make reborn calypso. Because Jack is one of the nine pirate lord. And one of nine coins was him. So Barbossa took jack's coin.. 😊
when the second and third movie of this trilogy came out, a lot of people were calling them bad movies, i never understood why, i loved all 3 of them and i could not understand why back than so many people were calling them bad... i latter realized that, back in that time period, the 2.000's a lot of people wanted to sound cool and cult by saying that movies were bad just so that they sounded smart.... i'm glad i never went with that stupid sheep mentality and always defended this movie, that now, today, the same people who said it was a bad movie call it a classic.
Thank ye,me heartie to watch`that great movie ...I like yer real emotion and feelings fer the sad moments und funnys
This is only my opinion as I don't have the facts, but I believe they can't join Will on the Duchman- even periodically, due to the Duchman now fulfilling its role of collecting and ferrying the souls of those that die at sea from within the sea of the damned itself for all of the ten years. Were the Duchman to abandon that charge even for a brief period to return to the sea of the living just to spend time with loved ones, the corruption that plagued the crew under Jones would begin again.
That's how I justify it at least.
I really like your reaction to one of my favorite movies. Keep up the awsome work! Just subscribed and can't wait for more! 😄
Nice reactions to some of my favourite movies 🤩 Did you ever watch the next two? I believe it was just announced, that they’ll make a sixth movie ♥️
Captain jack Sparrow made William Turner's hand stab Davey Jones heart so he can live on that was the only way to save William Turner
People like to crap on this movie but personally i think the finale is awesome. Davy Jones has such a cool design and the hoist the colours track never fails to get goosebumps.
pretty please watch the other 2, they arent as good, but they give a good closuare to many characters of the franchise
The son of William Turner and Elizabeth Swan he will be back, ( forget which movie 😊 )
you cut a lot of dialogue and scenes out, feels more like I'm watching a pirates compilation lol
No Elizabeth can't come aboard because Will is technically dead with no heart in his body and he goes to the land of the dead where Elizabeth can never stay.
30:43I was going to say does it anyone who kisses Elizabeth dies in the end LOL I know he dies in the end but he also comes back to life so I mean it's a little confusing
