- It's no secret Disney Star Wars has had its ups and downs. The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi have all had their share of criticisms. Many of us truly felt that Star Wars was losing its way under Disney's stewardship. In a galaxy not so far away, a new hope has emerged with the arrival of The Acolyte on Disney+. Surprisingly, this show has turned out to be a beacon of light in the Star Wars universe. So far, The Acolyte is truly impressive... and hopefully will stay this way. This is Zach Pope's Review on the first four episodes of The Acolyte

@@kingkazma5937 Forbes and Rolling Stone have both written articles saying that The Acolyte isn’t good. The audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is very low too. Of course, Disney and the media will claim that it’s due to review bombing; however, the Nielsen ratings will be the ultimate authority on whether or not the show resonated with audiences.

Everyone always wants to act high and mighty like "I would have told on him!" but the truth is even if you saw it happen with your own two eyes unless you could prove it without a single doubt you'd be wasting your time and career, and even if you could you'd be endangering yourself and your family.
And most people didn't actively see anything, that's why he got away with it for so long. You'd see him with young pretty girls, but rich dudes are always with young pretty girls. Everything that was prosecutable happened behind closed doors, so it was all hearsay anyway. If you heard a rumor that the guy down the street was a pedophile, do you confront him with a shotgun? Do you call the police with no proof? No, you tell your children to stay away and you keep an eye out, but there's nothing you can logically do against him unless you have definitive proof because the accusation is so awful.

so i wanted to see if there is anyone who likes this show, and its interesting to hear your opinion. I think you are definitely a little bit silly if you think the direction and writing has been "great and fantastic". Like I think its an interesting premise and really did want to like the show but it seems to have alot of strange "is this a galaxy far far away?" moments for me where it feels like fan fiction written by a teenager. Like the chanting scene is infamous now, as it should be, when they chant "the power of maaaaannnyyyyyy" i literally laughed. Think about how Dune uses mysticism and musical sound effects to build tension and immerse you, I don't listen to Arabic music but in Dune when that "haaaaaaaiiiiaaaaaaa" hits I get goosebumps, i do not laugh.

Is "The Acolyte" better than "Arcane"? In what ways?
Where did I say it was better than arcane?
As a long-time Star Wars fan, I am finding it harder to describe today's Star Wars as "great". And I strongly believe now that in order for Star Wars to regain its greatness, it has to surpass the storytelling of Arcane. I have been enthralled, excited and engaged more by Arcane, than by The Acolyte, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, the Book of Bobba Fett, or by the 3rd season of The Mandalorian. For me, Andor and the 2nd season of The Mandalorian came close. But the last time I felt the same level of enjoyment as Arcane was with the 1st Season of The Mandalorian. That's why for me, I do not believe The Acolyte deserves the moniker of "great" until it can come close to, or exceed Arcane. One doesn't need to mention Arcane as a comparison. Fans of science fiction will make such comparison on their own, just like I did

I thought the 1st episode was a bit messy with the mistaken identity stuff. It ended up working later, though. I'm really liking the characters once you get some time with them.
I just finished watching the first two episodes and I wasn't very impressed. I look forward to seeing the third one and understanding what direction the series is taking. I'm quite skeptical about it.🤔

Yeah, the show is good. Star Wars has always been moral, multicultural, political, and most importantly anti-fascist. I also felt like it was meant to be a children's show that can be enjoyed by adults, not the other way around. So, as far as I'm concerned, this has taken the original elements and progressed them, made them better, moved them on, and modernised them. The production value is greater, the choreography and cinematography is better, the acting and story telling is better. As fond as I am of the original films, I am not a kid anymore, so I'll never experience the same magic as I did as a child watching them for the first time. But, what I like about the originals (everything above) is still there, and is in fact better. Haters I imagine just grew more right wing as they got older, sad but not our problem. Star Wars HAS stayed the same, but sadly others changed, and have gone to the dark side 😅 fear, anger, hate.

I appreciate your honesty and willingness to admit you were mistaken! Thats a real critic in my eyes and much more insightful than the people who have been writing off a show they haven’t even seen. Its so easy to add onto that bandwagon when you stick yourself to the thought that disney has this wide spanning agenda to be “woke” and ruin star wars. That type of mindset can become blinding and misleading against real critiscm and analysis. I’m glad you stuck it out to see both the positives and negatives.
While the acting took a second to get there for me, I enjoyed my watch. And found it interesting enough to continue. This show is by no means the “angel of death” thats been sent to discontinue star wars. I give that to the likes of boba fett or Kenobi 😂😂
