As a swede I have been a bit worried that you would mess with it a bit too much from the original looks. But what a transformation that was. I love that you are keeping the signholders and accessories. The signs in swedish is such a nice touch and nod to the heritage aswell.
Chris, your such a great Dad, you have done a great job, I loved watching you play with Oaklee and included him in the video's. Ange is a proud mum and you guys as a family make a great team.
Love the new body colors, excellent choice, glad you added the gloss! Also, the beadlocks / wheels and tire choice is badass! She's a tough and classy looking beast!
To remove glued in glass, force a piece of steel wire through the glue from inside to outside (mig wire works). Use about 500mm and wrap each end around some pieces of pipe or broom handle so you have something to pull on. Now use a sawing motion to cut though the glue. It's obviously a 2 person job but it works very well.
I was beginning to get a little worried, no vid for over a week? Already the grief of brake problems is in the rear view mirrow and the joy of accomplishment clear. Watching Oakley playing with his Mum and Dad, what a fabulous life of freedom and exploration he's going to have. Cheers Ian
100% do white wheels, it won't show dirt as much as you think. The colour combination is brilliant. Keep up the good work on the truck Chris. Ange you are doing a great job too.
I was just getting involved in writing the comment about the wheels on the first colour reveal and as I opened up the process to comment you started talking about it and I definitely definitely think a white colour would be good. It doesn’t matter that it’s an off-road vehicle as most, four-wheel-drive wheels out there come in a white option yes they get muddy but so do the black ones white would look so much better when the truck is clean. It can often be a lot easier to see if you have a leak of any sort a white rim, then it is a black ask me, I know. Outstanding work guys thoroughly enjoy your content.
It is looking really good, much better than I had expected. White wheel rims will look great and won't show up the dirt as much as black, but with black centre hubs will set it right off IMHO. Well done so far guys.
Looks amazing even down to the decals.wouldnt have expected any less from you both ,especially after the mog build .wow cant beleive that was 3 years ago..I think white ,make the unit stand out a bit . A big hello to Oakley ,wow he is growing .the build is getting exiting ,cant wait for the next vid .stay safe and enjoy
I had one of those in the military, but the TGB1314 edition, i.e the Medivac version. Now you probably never want to drive it like we did, but that car can basically go through any terrain. We even had an incident during an exercise where we were to ford a river, and we had completely the wrong information about the depth. Cabin got flooded to about halfway up our thighs, the exhaust was totally submersed but my driver managed to push us through and onto the other side. Then the rest of the company (in other types fo vehicles) got scared about crossing, and left us on the otherside, and of course we did not have the correct encryption keys for the radio so we spent half the day sightseeing the south of Sweden while looking for our regiment. Anyway, it is a crude but fun little car, that will last you forever. You doing a great job giving it a new lease on life.
Hi from NZ guys! Truck looks awesome!! Spent the last two-three days rewatching your mog build, can remember watching through covid but currently trying to convince the mrs into a build and your content is perfect :D great to see how far you've both come with the boy too great to see! All the best, look forward to seeing more!
Great looking paint colours on the build. For my money, I would go for black wheels. Cannot believe what you have been able to accompliish with such a basic workshop and tools. Just shows that true grit and determination to succeed will overcome any obstacles along the way. So pleased for you both. Cannot wait to see the engine/transmission replacement!!
Very good reason to be stoked - looks awesome! Love the colour choice. As for rims - black sounds like the best option - what about a thin white pin stripe on the rim so as to break the black and accentuate the look! Plain black makes it look rugged but also like a car without hub caps!
Fantastic vid. You are both doing a great job. I would go for the white wheels, the black accents look good, but black wheels would make it look to heavy visually. But hey, it's your vehicle, choose a colour that makes you guys happy, that's more important, take care and enjoy.
I did my military service using a 13-bil (mortar company year 90/91) It might been a slightly newer model, but it still takes me back in time, //Regards from Sweden
Great work with the build and paint! Did Chris just say Blinker fluid at 26:17?? It was hella funny! Speaking of the text for the washer fluid and coolant I just love that you hade original text and original language. It’s such a nice touch. Might be a bit biased ‘cause 🇸🇪
Wow! Love the colour scheme guys, with everything you have done so far changing the wheel colour is not a biggy. Start with white and if you’re not happy you will know that very quickly. 👏👏
@@TheOutFit I was driving one of those when i did military service in Sweden for over 25 years ago. Seeing this vehicle brings back a lot of great memories =)
TRANSFORMATION!! super job! I would suggest a dark bronze rim colour, that would be a little less old skool than the white option, bring it up to modern looks, just like those headlights!!
Ivory white, blk wheels, black bumpers and external armor. I'd cage the top with a rack and tent platform along with awnings on the sides and back, call it a 6XPanda 🙂 Very cool truck good luck!
Love that you enhanced the spot welds, I'm a GTR Torana guy and we're known as rivet counters. Love the colour choice, suits the vehicle so well. Ange and Chris, you are both super-stars with what you're doing incredible stuff. Jerry can in red maybe???? Marty from Perth
Looking good, well done! I think that thinner is what we call "Specialförunning" in Swedish, based on the name you read in german. Regarding that, my dad used to mix two component paints for cars etc professionally and he used a cocktail of thinner, specialförtunning and aceton to clean everything after mixing, so I do think that they are different things (standard thinner and special thinner) although with the same purpose. But it's just a guess based on memory, which honestly isn't that great.
Curve ball, I think the wheels would look nice painted a darker brown/bronze colour 👌 It could really set it off especially with the timber side panels and a similar coloured fuel container or storage box on the rear
Wow guys! Looks awesome. If you didn't say that you had ordered the paint ages ago, then I would have had a guess and said you got the colour inspiration from 4xoverlands latest troopy build. Love the colour. I reckon black rims and tyres with white lettering would look great! I started watching your Chanel when you first got Bowser and was absolutely hooked waiting for the next build episode. I tell you what, I have nothing but admiration for you two (3). I mean, what you did to create Bowser was amazing! To build the habitat from scratch was inspirational! Like you Chris, I'll give almost anything a go myself DIY. But I'm in aw at how persistent and patient and meticulous you are with your builds. Those brakes on the Volvo man...hats off to you for getting it done. It must have been so testing! I know nothing at all about those trucks. But for some reason I couldn't wait for the next episode, hoping that you'd solved the problem with those brakes and got it registered. And Ange, also hats off to you. You must be a very patient and understanding partner! Having Chris so committed to the build most days must put a huge load on your shoulders too now that you guys have Oakley. I always say to my wife that she has it tougher than me with our 5 month old, no matter how tough my day might be at work. And to still be able to chip in to help here and there with the build, editing and all the other background stuff that life requires of you both...well done guys. And thank you for the content. Can't wait for the interior fit out. Cheers, guys
Hey! Something, I think, that will be different but still understated is something similar to "cast iron" by Rustoleum or if you really want something that "pops" but does not look too bling, "burnt bronze" by Ceracote. These are colours that I have used on motorcycle rims before and I was quite please with the understated but different semi gloss look they gave. I really hope you make a decision that will make you happy for all the journeys and adventures ahead!
I like the color. In the US we have a Sherwin Williams house paint that is called 'Ink Well' which is absolutely beautiful. I have always wanted to see someone duplicate 'Ink Well's deep ink color to auto paint.
Looks amazing! Was worried that it would be painted black. Your choice of paint combination is fantastic and white rims would look good, but I think black rims would suite the truck better. Great seeing some positive progress and keep on rocking!
My dad's friend had an ex-RAF Defender in a very similar shade of blue. It didn't even have seats in the back, just two wooden benches and a fabric roof
Well, unusually for me, I guessed correctly! It really looks very good and I absolutely love the shade of blue you chose. The white roof really sets it off. As for the wheels, I would definitely not choose black. Either white or the body colour.
You two are amazing! The vehicle looks GREAT, all your hard work, frustration and overcoming the crazy obstacles has paid off. We love your can-do, positive attitude which we share and is very inspirational. Keep going, you're closer than ever to the finish line. As far as color is concerned, either white or black for the rims would look beautiful. As you mentioned in the video, white would look great, classic perhaps, but would require a bit more attention to cleaning. Black would also look great, a bit more aggressive, and keeping with the utilitarian design and purpose of the vehicle. Either of those colors will be perfect!
My recommendation of Dark blue was spot on 😀 White rims give it a nice classical look, Black rims give a more modern feel, I think a white Jerry can would make the rear pop more.
It's amazing what a good paint job can do as it completely changes it. When you've finish doing everything it's going to look brand new. Bit hard to choose the colour of the rims, as the tyres are going to be black. So probably wouldn't have black rims, and i don't go the colour of white either. You're doing a fantastic job guys. 👍👍
This IS massive! Hard word pays off- congrats!! 💪🏼 About the rims - I simulated it very quickly in PSD. I'd go for white, for the reason you named - it works very well! Black is rather a bit to hard or heavy in my eyes, and more conventional. You probably did these simulations yourself already. Just in case you didn't - I DM you the pics.
You could do a lighter or slightly darker version of the grey you’re using now on the rims. White rims get dirty very easily and they also may divert the attention from the rest of the body. Black is very industrial/military looking.
Those two colors, black and white, would also go nicely with silver/nickel accents in places. I like the mostly black trim/accessories, but I'm imagining black rims with those nuts being in some finish of silver/zinc/nickel to pop. Could also do the white rims with black nuts....would have to see it on to know if it looked good or if it's too much. Looks awesome!
Hello there, what a beautiful color, in combination with that white roof! I think it is fantastic! I would never choose black for the color of the rims, because your tires will look very gray. Contrast is better, so I would choose white, or perhaps a completely different color. Perhaps the same blue as the carriage, but many shades lighter.
I'm pleased you are both happy with the result. It's been a tough time for you all. Personally I'm not a fan of the colours but It's not my vehicle! With any luck the future will be full of adventures.
The Volvo looks Awesome!! Nice job Chris and Ange!! As for the wheels, I think black would look great!! Look forward to the remainder of the build!! Cheers, Matt:)
congrats for the great job, looks fantastic, it brough back some awsome memories of my teen age and a bit later as i hade a renault clio with the same color or similar
Keep it blue with the white roof, in the heat of Europe, you'd be surprised to see the difference white makes over black for temperature in the cab. Oh, and white wheels with a black boss centre. Great vid.
That was the colour I had in mind including the white roof; the wheels I like the idea of Land Rover white style, however I think black would be best. Also paint the Jerry Can Black, remove all the green from the outside
Hi there!! Ange is right you have been a busy body Chris, great job 👏👏 I truly like that prime blue color! can’t wait for the pop up. You both have a handful with little Oakley that is soo adorable and such a happy baby ☺️💛💛
The bitumen layer under the vehicle is protection from salt used on the main roads in winter. I lived in Sweden for 6 years and do not recommend the vehicle be black without some way for other drivers to see the vehicle at night. Half the year is spent in low light conditions which could lead to a collision from other drivers.
I think it looks like a Police vehicle now. With the White roof and Blue sides. I would paint the roof another colour, it would take away from the ' Government ' look of the vehicle

Well done team!!!! Black for the wheels, easy to touch up with a rattle can if needed. White would need to be the “right white” to match

100% do white wheels, it won't show dirt as much as you think. The colour combination is brilliant. Keep up the good work on the truck Chris. Ange you are doing a great job too.

I think you should go with white . Black is so common . Love what you have done so far keep up the good work .
Beau boulot ! Hâte de voir cet engin rouler en liberté. Well done !
Merci Kris! 🙌
What an awesome job, love the colours, what an amazing transformation. Black rims for sure.
