When it's a 24v system you should switch to two identical batteries otherwise the best battery risks being overcharged and dying long before the old one.

Hi Guy's! In the U.S.A. we can only have High Beams or low beams but not both at the same time. That's how the relays under the hoods work.
Good luck figuring out a "fix" for your system.

The insignia is for The Svea Artillery Regiment, A 1 (1st Artillery Regiment). It's the color blue that assign it to that regiment. The ball with the flame tells it's artillery and the A 1 was active between 1794-1997.

Consider getting two smaller fridges rather than one larger unit. That way you could use both for fridge or one for fridge and one for freezer. Also makes removal easier. When I load mine, I simply remove the internal baskets and fill them in the kitchen and then replace them in the respective fridges. What's also great is that they can run off either 12v/24v or 220v systems. Engel is the brand I've always trusted and has delivered in the harshest of conditions here in South Africa. I have two Engel 40 litre units and a smaller 28 litre unit for drinks.

We are just scared it will damage the paint :/

    • @Mr_Springy
      @Mr_Springy 6 месяцев назад

The paint damage is isolated to a small area. If the acetone does damage the paint then you can mask the area off, sand it, prime and paint it with an aerosol. Worse case scenario (if you can’t paint it) you could create a decal that promotes your channel and stick it over the damage, another on the rear with a QR code so as you travel people can scan and follow you. 👍🏻

Another viewer from the NW of Spain watching your videos since the beginning of the Mog fabrication.
If you read this message I will add a few suggested places to visit that most of the time are not mentioned in tourist guides:
    - Picos de Europa national park. Amazing and dramatic karstic mountains with lots of hiking oportunities. The Valdeon Valley is probably the part that you will enjoy the most (more rugged and wild than other places) and doing the "Ruta del Cares" is a must if you visit the park. I HIGHLY recommend starting from Cain. Avoid July and August and don't try the Cares route on weekends. Too many people.
    - If you can only visit one place on the Pirenees, go to Torla and visit the Ordesa Valley. Another place to visit close to that location is the Añisclo Gorge.
    - The North coast of Spain is pretty rugged. IMHO the best parts are from a town called Muros all the way to Santander and there are plenty of secluded beaches in that zone, but the water is cold, WAY colder than the Mediterranean sea.
    - Historic sites that you may want to visit and are pretty unusual can be the walled cities of Lugo (Roman Walls) or Avila (Medieval walls) and Segovia (Roman aqueduct, Acázar).
    - There are plenty of castles both in Spain (and Portugal) too.
I visited the Picos de Europa park almost every year (I like it there a lot) and can give you a bit more detailed guide of what to visit if you want (even when I am not an expert).

Hi, loving the build. The Diesel heater is a good idea but you need to have the exhaust, from the heater, coming out from under the vehicle. If you don't fumes will collect under the vehicle when stationary. Its recommended to have the end of the exhaust sticking out and pointing down. Helps to stop water getting in.
    Looking forward to more vids.

Your plans for placement under the seat of your lithium batteries will need to consider them being put into a sealed box, with the box ventilated to external. As if lithium batteries vent, there would be poisonous gas in the cabin. This is now law in Australia, but is best safety practice.

Great job so far guys, diesel heater is a game changer for cold weather camping. Just fitted one to my caravan and extended the ducting to either end so it gets nice and warm, now camping in a Victorian winter isnt so bad.
Colour choice is great, i thought it looked matt black when it first rolled out but the blue with white roof suits it.
I've had a good run out of my Waeco 50ltr fridge for the last 8 years but see what you can get locally for a good price, you will want a dual zone i'd expect.
I would go 1 or 2 x 200ah lithium's, 1 would probably be enough if you have enough solar like 400 plus watts.

Put a bunch of soldiers with helmets and weapons and no seat belts inside while driving around the terrain exercise course. With enough leaning angle, things and body parts will start flying out the windows long before the car tips over. I remember myself involuntary boxing one side window out while trying not to fall through the door. They were easy to pop back in at least :-)

you never have High and Low beam at the same time, bulbs would simply burm out. There is only 1 exception on cars if you temporary flash the high beam with the non permanent movement on the steering column they are on both for short time.
Eg, flipping to high it is NORMAL that low beam is off! (in more or less ANY car)
As to indicators, I believe (in the Netherlands) you shouldn't have more than one indicator light on the front (per side) so either disconnect the one in the main unit or disconnect the one in the little blinker.
I believe yellow headlights should be fine. Orange certainly isn't OK.

Chris, regarding the superglue stain. Definitely real acetone would remove it. However, as you stated it may also remove the paint, if anything, it will dull it. My opinion would be sanding the spot to wear off the superglue and re paint the panel. Otherwise, you will never be satisfied with the blemish. Paint job is still fresh enough to blend in. OR, forget about it but, every time you go around the front of the truck, you’re going to find it and 😖
Build is really coming along, reminds me of the Mog build. That green “Jerry Can” is kind a growing on me. The contrast in color???

Good job on the build, everything seems to be really moving forward and fast! There are smaller diesel heaters on the market that you mount under the car, it would have saved a lot of space but also noise. Then you should get hold of the roof as soon as possible because it will be easier to plan the layout and now you have already painted it and insulated the roof, which feels unnecessary if it is to be opened up?
Regarding prices, to explain a few things, why things like food or materials are more expensive in Sweden is because of how hard Sweden invests in how natural something is, that food should be as organic as possible, that materials should be as natural as possible, strawberries should not be sprayed etc. This means that it is somewhat more expensive to shop but at the same time fresher for yourself and also the environment. Sweden is the only country in the world that buys trash from other countries and then burns it and turns it into energy, we are short of trash as we basically sort everything in our households.
    Looking forward to next part!

also if you don't change the geometry of the portals with extra colling flenses keep under the speed of 70 km/h, they tend to over heat and get you wear and tear.

I can recommend National Luna for a fridge. Mine has been running 24/7 since 2015 in a 4wd without issue. Couple of good aussie brands too but you're not in oz...Thanks for sharing. Cheers

Would have been kind of cool to make a camper of a TGB 40. Or a more modern Scania similar to the Globecruiser 6500. Build is looking great!

@@TheOutFit Yeah I think it was a very good choice. I would likely rather drive yours around, neither of the ones I would want to do with unlimited fund and so on, would be very fun to drive all over Europe, would probably get a bit tight in some places :)

For your camping trip, ypu should consider going to Gotland, the big island in the middle of the baltic sea.
It is a unique place, very different from the rest of scandinavia, and let's face it, -you'll never come around to it if you don't do it now. Gotland has stunning nature and the main city of Visby, wich is one of Sweden's best preserved historical towns.
You can get there via ferry from Oskarshamn, wich is about 4 hours drive from Malmö. While the nature is too precious for all-out off-roading, there are loads of tiny back roads where you can try out your new veichle, and where you can find amazing camping spots, right by the sea.

Should really fit 2 brand new batteries at the same time because the old one won't let the new one charge and run 100% sadly , I know that's expensive 😖 she's coming along looks great 👍

You could fix your low beam to be on while running the high beam by adding a Diode having enough power rating. Connect the Anode to the high beam plus, and the cathode (side with the stripe) to the low beam plus. This way your low beam is switched as usual, but on high beam the voltage is available to low beam through the diode.

When you have a single bulb for both high and low light you never use both at the same time, it will burn put the bulb. You will have to re wire the lighting circuit. When you do that, connect both headlights in series, then you can use it on 24V and wont rely on the notoriously lousy converters

Just use a Victron Orion-TR Smart 24 to 12V converter. With the solar you wont need a lot of 12V from the engine, 20A will be lots

Worth noting, only replacing 1 battery with the other being questionable will drain down your new battery so to be avoided. Also chris with the amount of 12v your doing please do yourself a favour and buy a professional crimping set and learn how to use it. It will save you so much heartache and the correct jaw for the coloured insulated crimps is far superior than the old set your using! It will open your eyes to so many better and easy ways to crimps and terminate connections

Hey Chris. Try using a cyano debonder on the super glue stain. I've used it for aeromodelling and it seems to dissolve the glue. Not sure if it will react with the paint but you can always do a test somewhere out of sight. Keep up the good work.

Nail polish remover on a microfibre cloth (do not apply directly may remove paint) and scrub hard should remove the super glue.

Typically in Europe, DRL must either be white or yellow if included in a yellow headlamp (country dependent and rare), but not amber. Amber is reserved for turn signals.

Buy yourself WiFi inspection camera. They are really cheep and only thing you need is a powerbank with usb-C and the smartphone. Ziptie the camera under vehicle and watch on the smartphone or tablet what is going on. Much safer and in real world conditions. You can also connect camera directly to the phone if you wish
