I love that you dove straight in with ink. I think your sketches are great. They show personality which makes them interesting. If you are up for another challenge, maybe try drawing with watercolor first then adding your ink on top. I think you would love the loose result.
Heavy outlines work for you; I absolutely love that you explored different styles from day to day. Try using a heavy outline to block out a hedge or plants.
I love the progress and honesty in your video and I am amazed by your ability to go on... I tried urban sketching... first time I sketch one of the Japanese Cafes You did also (the one with a little birdy mark on the front of the building) and after some time a crooked small building but I was so angry at myself that that it didn't look exactly as I wanted it that I never tried again... but it is my problem with perfectionism rather then lack of skill. Thank you for an awesome video you gave me courage to try it again since I am going to Malaga and hope to capture some nice moments with only pen :)

I really enjoyed your video. It was very interesting being able to compare your artwork with the actual photographs. I loved the looseness of your sketches. The perspective is obviously wrong in a number of them but, rather than detract from the sketch, the wonky perspective actually added character. awesome work. some of the pictures you showed that you didn't like I thought were alright! at 9:53 I think you captured the spirit of it. would be good to see you re-do that one with your current skills. I am restarting my journey, but only beginning urban sketching. What I am finding helps now is to not have expections, and to do it for aimless fun and if things look awful, it's not a problem. I used to take myself too seriously, still do to some extent but I'm not trying to be or prove anything. Having said that my goal is to actually take a sketchbook and sketch in public!
🖌️Loved seeing your progress. When I first tried drawing buildings (I’m a portrait artist, normally), I didn’t recognize that the reference photos were shot with a wide angle lens. The lens distorts, and if I didn’t correct for that, my lines looked all wonky.😂
Loved watching your journey! Did you purchase any art books to help you learn art fundamentals? I feel like I keep getting stuck at wanting to learn the proper way to draw first before actually practicing. For example, how do you properly capture shading vs just trying to find the shading and going with it?
I think you used the skectchbook for exactly what is was intended for; experimenting and thought collecting. Great job! James Gurney is a great person to look at for urban sketching\G

that is so much improvement from just sketching references this is a huge help to me I kind of felt like I was not going to improve by just trying my best to learn and draw every day but seeing this has given me a little more hope. Also drawing buildings is low-key hard as f***. Also I realy want to get into watercolor. Big like and sub
it is hard af sometimes. there were plenty of days i didnt even know where to start lol. thank you so much for watching and i hope you continue drawing every day or the most that you can. The compounding effects of every day practice only become apparent after a set amount of time like a couple of months. and i do play guitar! I play flamenco guitar to be specific.
I had a board on pinterest with a whole bunch of picture of urban photography. Eventually the algorithm started recommending me tons of them. Pinterest was a great resource for me.
You definitely have some art talent, but I see very clearly you need to work on perspective. Your angles are often all wrong. I hope you take this comment in the manner it’s intended, as a pointer where you can maybe look at some tutorials and gain a better understanding of where you are going wrong. See the tutorial by Sketching Scottie on his Fundamentals video, it will help you greatly. All in all though, there are some nice drawings and just keep on going, you will get there in the end 😊 Oh and I also see that style starting to emerge - the buildings you make with a darker outline look cool!
haha that was definitely my biggest struggle during that time. Perspective was my greatest challenge. Thank you for the comment! The darker outlines definitely became my thing :)
