    Thanks a lot Alister, I have stagnated since covid and I need to not put pressure on myself to create but to get back out and just enjoy my environment down here, sandwiched between Dartmoor and the coast, opening up my lungs and just breath

    Great video! I find that just going out helps, even if I don't even take one photo. Being ultra aware of the surroundings with some deep breathing to relax and just allow the scenery to flow from eyes into your body. Try new things or vary your category/theme for the day as to what you would like to capture. Thanks for sharing as always, your thoughts really show the reality and even successful photographers sometimes struggle with the craft!

    Allister, today I stumbled on your channel. BTW, search engine at YT absolutely terrible. So, periodically I’m able to secure a diamond in the rough like your channel. Yesterday I went to CP+ 2024 in Yokohama. Had an opportunity to play with the GFX series and was absolutely blown away. What I have been in search of is “visual detail “. I can’t buy just a 4k. I have to do side by side comparisons, get close to the screen, look at the edges of graphics etc. I like the same in photographs and seek duplicating why I took the picture in the first place. The visual…. I want to capture that ! Just moved from SONY A7R4 to Fuji XH2. Not for gear… as I find SONY technically better. But, the Fuji color and menu logics. But… I’m still not satisfied with image quality. I want the bam(!) visual . I am not a software manipulator to impact pictures. The talent in photography(for me) is being able to capture an image as I see it and feel it. Just because you wear a nice suit doesn’t mean you’re sophisticated, it’s the core. Anyway I started binging your channel. I understand your expression “GAS”…. Also believe it permeates on YT. My dilemma is… do I go to GFX 100ii, 100S or even 50Sii??? I’m pretty well thinking about eliminating 50sii as I historically want “X” and comprise by getting something less and disappointed. All I hear on YT is Fuji MF is slow. I take my time when photographing as its usually landscapes and street photography (non action). Love macros… S or ii… living in Japan now and want to document my new clean slate of photography opportunities. GFX to me would be a great gateway to do that. I’ll check your channel for anything on Macro. I’ll take a look at your forum and books. Always want to push myself to be better and learn new things! Thank you for your time.

      Nice to meet you and glad you found me among all the noise. Image wise the GFX100ii is amazing, a little better than the 100s, but the latter is slow. Not so much in AF, but in processing the images. The 100ii is a lot faster. So far I am delighted with it. If you have deep pockets the other option would be the Hasselblad H2D, which creates stellar images, but at an even higher price point. - Not much Macro on the channel, but I do love it and hope to do more as our life settles this year when we move house.
      Thanks for joining us here, I appreciate it.

    I'm in a two pronged slump at the moment.
    1) While I think the recent LR updates are brilliant, they've slowed my PC down to the point they've sucked the joy out of editing for me.
    2) I destroyed my right leg on Nov.1st and have only recently reached the point I can sit without it being elevated or walk without a cane. My wound care MD say 2 weeks minimum before I can return to work in a controlled environment and at least another month before I can return to the woods. 😢

    I do compare my work to others frequently and I always find my work to be better 😂 Seriously, though, I may be producing many crap photos but one thing I can confidently say is that they’re like no one else’s - good and bad. That alone keeps me going.😊

    Absolutely spot on, Alister! My garden, which hubby tends, keeps me sane, or I walk to a nearby reserve, generally my mainstay for my inspiration, but too many snakes out at the moment. We have a heatwave this week in south eastern Oz which means going out early or late, and we don’t have a twilight. Len M thankfully keeps me on my toes with his exercises and projects.

    Good advice Alister, can you give another advice: How to go from anxiety to confidence?

    • @Alister_Benn
      @Alister_Benn  8 месяцев назад +5

      Thanks so much mate. I think they are very much related. A lot of negative thinking is not accurate. Our perception of how we feel may not be entirely accurate. I’ll chat more about this in 2024.

      There's absolutely nothing to be anxious about pascal. Take pictures with your camera. Whether you have an old digital dslr or a smartphone just click away. If you don't like a photo delete it. Try different settings and compositions. You'll figure out what works for you. Have fun.

    Thanks Alister…very appropriate at the moment. I wonder whether adding KISS to ASS may also help. To get back in the swing I have for the last week or so kept everything really simple by just getting out and about with my phone and a light tripod. The lack of pressure to produce, the lightness and simplicity of the kit, the ability to experiment have provided a big boost.
