- President Uhuru Kenyatta this morning visited Former President Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home in Nakuru, in a visit that left out Deputy President William Ruto despite him being in the neighbourhood. Ruto was at the time attending a funeral of the wife to former vice chief of defence forces Joseph Kasaon, a ceremony that President Kenyatta later joined. As Sam Gituku reports, president Moi’s son Gideon Moi was there to see Uhuru off.

Bonga Sasa. Interesting. I thought Kenya was an English speaking country? “Half full or Half empty glass” is an English idiom or a proverbial phrase. The phrase is even in both Oxford and Cambridge English dictionaries! You can look it up.
Well, I grew up hearing that phrase especially when one gets a new boyfriend, friends would often ask “is he a half full or half empty kind of a guy”? . In simple terms, they are asking does the man have a positive outlooks or is a negative person who’s always whining type. “In simple terms, Half full” means positive and “half empty” means negative. The phrase is also used in psychology as a cognitive behavioural therapy to correct distortions and misconceptions.
What I was trying to say in my above comment is, the meeting between President Uhuru and retired President moi may be a sign for optimism for some people especially for those aligned to Gideon Moi (Half full) or the meeting maybe seen as callous with hidden agendas by the supporters of deputy president (half empty). It’s up to you as an individual how you see this meeting between Kenyatta and Moi.

The former president should be approached with some bit of etiquette and needs to be given some peace at his age. The visit by the head of state was a very good gesture to show our unity as a society.
