Hey everyone. I bought my grandad his first pedal just before Christmas. He's been playing guitar for 63 years, so I settled on the Milkman since it would give him those sweet rockabilly slap back tones. He played the pedal all day on Christmas and then he asked me the gateway question: "So what other types of pedals exist?" I immediately jumped up and put on an episode from your channel. He loved it and he can't wait to buy another pedal. You all are doing really important work and people really care about what you do. My grandad taught me to play guitar, so we've always had that in common. Now that he's been bitten by the pedal bug, we'll be able to share many more experiences together. Love you guys! ❤
I love that, his first at 63, he played his new and first pedal all Christmas Day and now he’s got the pedal bug. He’ll have a stack of pedals in know time, a pedalboard and he’ll be pedal dancing before you know it! A great little story and shows there’s no limits of age when playing guitar and getting so much enjoyment out of a huge range of effects pedals to choose from, I really hope he enjoys his pedal journey from now and he has made this discovery late on and will definitely keep him well entertained when he reaches retirement.
Dudes, just take your time. That's the beauty of RUclips. If I am free, I will just chill. If I need to pick up watching later, I can do that. Please continue as long as you're inspired. We will take it from there.....
It's great to see you all back together again even though everyone's mad at each other. PS - You should make a foot switch for Nick that mutes everyone's mics
so while listening to the show on headphones, I tuned out the video, and man, the audio mix is really good. The drums are panned. I think the floor tom is only in left, its is really good!
they have the best sound on youtube...all my sound goes through my KRKs. I could happily do an album there, it's a fantastic sound and he is a wicked drummer. They are all great and hilarious.
Interesting enough, I am lazy to even bother using Bluetooth from my phone and had a similar thought about how well produced the audio is. Something must be wrong with me because I love this show even if I am not a pedal whore or Um hoarder 😁
I noticed the drum sound too but it was in a particular part just sounded bigger and then josh said after jam "I didn't mute my mic so the drums could truly breathe." Or something along those lines but I bet you're right things may be wired diff and it's which gave them a hugealiciciius vibe and it wasn't coincidental from that one jam.
I watch every episode of this show, originally for the pedal reviews, but the show is much much more than that. I enjoy it when sometimes the cues fail or something unexpected happens, and everyone quickly gets back on track, it makes the whole thing more personal and natural. I like the more relaxed format, I could watch you all for hours just hanging out and improvising your spontaneous music. Tonights show was exceptional, one of the early jams could have been an unreleased Pink Floyd composition, and the “ambient soundtrack” was absolutely astonishingly good. Some channels strive to be super slick and polished, but they become stilted and dull in the process, please don’t change anything, this is undoubtedly the most enjoyable music related livestream on RUclips.
In light of the end: I enjoy these, and sometimes it’s while I’m washing dishes. I watch when I can, in bits and pieces, never live. I only wish some of the contests/drawings weren’t live.
Good to have you all back, honestly JHS videos are the videos I always look the most forward to on the entirety of RUclips! Take your time, as long as you guys enjoy it I'm really happy with however long you keep going. I'll watch it all, everytime, promise!
The long form video is great. The more you show us and explain to us about the devices, the better. Keep doing the informal bantering, it makes the content more entertaining - and the mix on the jams are really top notch.
These types of streams are by far my favorite, I usually turn it on while I’m getting some stuff done but love being able to check out a lot of different unique pedals that I might never hear about otherwise.
Addison with the cop mustache was cracking me up. He looks straight out of Super Troopers or something, and the intense faces he was making during the jams only solidified this image of a fresh recruit straight out of police academy, eager to bust someone up on a routine traffic stop. LOL
You know, Addison's 'stache makes him look like the rookie cop teamed up to Nick's hard-boiled loose-cannon detective that refuses to play by the rules.
RECORD TIME SUGGESTION: HUM’s “You’d Prefer An Astronaut” Please check it out if you haven’t. This album takes “shoegaze” and smashes it with walls of trippy driven guitars, backed by unique, jaw dropping, drums. It a perfect use of the “shades of colors” sound, and “beautiful quiet to heavy” formula. It blows me away that after 20 something years of listening to this album,Im still hearing new sounds and textures. They are still so influential to me and countless others..
EHX has a vintage 9 volt gimmick, where they sell "special vintage" 9v batteries, that they claim sound better than any other type of power delivery, so perhaps there is something to battery tone lmao.
King Tone (the guys behind Duelist etc) also sell similar thingy. Josh Smith and Eric Johnson swears by carbon batteries for fuzzes. Not for other pedals (like powering Strymon Timeline with carbon battery will be funny ride, haha).
Hi there, I think the french words Josh was trying to remember is "Mise En Abyme"... but it's not used by musicians and techs... They'd rather say "feedback" or "larsen"... Greetings from France, great channel!
Ok I know this comment is a day later than the air date but to answer Josh' question at 32:25 "which song is it".... It's Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel Do I win anything😉🤞🎶
You could do a Tour of Italy, staying at your fan's houses, and doing live shows using only the hosts' pedalboards. I am just realizing it is a F**KING GREAT IDEA, frankly
Think you're right. Their Instagram says 10% of sales go to mutual aid projects so they seem to be down for the cause Edit: oh they've got 1312 hashtags on their insta too. You're definitely right
In this episode: Josh finally admits that he hates Phasers & the rest of the guys just hate each other. 😂 Also, that 131.2 price definitely holds meaning. Love that.
oh hi JHS fam, Smack here ("Mr. Trades" is my father). I had to leave the stream before I got to see yall answer my patreon question but I finally got to catch up today! Thanks so much for answering about the history behind the branding, definitely looking forward to the upcoming content. much love!
As to your talk about pedal placement and jack placement - I’ll share with you one of the best ideas to come around - JHS branded pedal switching shoes!!!! Needs a narrow tip for letting large footed mammals switch pedals and needs flexibility for feeling the expression pedals. Even if only for April fools, it will be awesome, and I’d buy a pair. Great show, btw, keep it up!
Also bless you Joshua for putting up with others' inability to pronounce any word they haven't seen before XD you're just like "naw it's pronounced like this" LOL I see u
I think with the top mounts, if you have a switcher and your trying to fit a bunch of pedals but only really tapping on the switcher then it makes sense because you can put more pedals on a smaller board and you don’t have to worry about spacing because of the switcher.
That Massif circuit is beautiful. I fucking love that pedal. I have the germanium version which is also really dope. Fuzzlord does a great one knob fuzz to called the Voidmaster which is similar and also really cool. Just super powerful fuzz weapons
Brother gave me one for my birthday and i love it! I have a sovtek big muff pi, which is awesome but all over the map so it is great to have a tighter-ish muff

How can someone play guitar for 60 years and never play any pedals?
So awesome!
What a fantastic gift!

Too much power for Nick? Joshua gets that switch.
Ya, I was wondering what the grievances were/are
I used Crackle Cleaner on my Fuzz Face and now it's a transparent boost.
Maybe you got some on the germanium transistors ..LOL
That’s hysterical
Best jam of the day - 21:05 Just GREAT. Better than most of the Grammy nominations.
I’m blown away this jam so fffffreaking good. Wow!!
Thank you for having us on the show today!
That Fuzz sounds great!
@@andyt5833 thank you!
Definitely was NOT disappointed! Sounded super good.
When Josh turned on the fuzz with the Respira 🤘😍🤘
That jam was pure 🔥
It was a blast indeed!

Yes!! Loved having you :)
Gotta give credit to the mixing on todays show, the stereo presentation of the drums was wicked awesome. Well done guys it sounded great as usual.

Great episode! Loved the pacing of this one and you guys have such a vibe, please stay together, for the kids.
Yes... for the kids
Pacing is great if you have literally nothing to do with your life.
Or your playing the long game
That jam with Respira is one of your best jams ever. We need a full album like that!
Agree! 😉
The AC Noises Respira and Mastro Valvola LEM are straight 🔥
Thank you!
I dig these long episodes. The discussions are entertaining and the music sounds so so good!

This episode cost me $400. Just ordered a Respira... Thanks a bunch gang.
Thank you for featuring us on the show!

I love these longer, slower relationship cramp episodes. Yes. More please.
In light of the end: I enjoy these, and sometimes it’s while I’m washing dishes. I watch when I can, in bits and pieces, never live. I only wish some of the contests/drawings weren’t live.
Great show! I love seeing the whole crew together. I also enjoyed what may be the two worst mustaches on RUclips.
Big noises from the Respira and fuzz pedal on the soundtrack jam, that huge guitar sound for me sounded excellent.
There should be a video about Nick, Josh and Joshua “People that you don’t wanna miss out on”… so much fun and a great episode…👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👋🏼
Three Italian manufacturers in one episode! Loved the show :D
Addison looks so serious with a moustache, this is firefighter Addison for emergencies only.

That respira demo is easily the prettiest guitar tone I have ever heard. It's perfect.

Thanks for playing the Respira! I have loved that pedal since the first time I heard it.
It's cry worthy
Thank you! 🙂
I think the AC Noises Respira is one of the best pedals I’ve heard in a very long time. Instant scene building!
Oh my gosh, it was so cool!
I wish they had shown the frequency split function where the trem can be applied only to the low notes or high notes.
Just ordered one...can't wait.

Bravo for Nick! You can hear the clearer stereo separation on his Drums and they have been moved forward in the Mix 🥁
21:54
Nick's playing: Amazing
Nick's face: "Who farted?"
I feel like the ‘stache is really upping Addison’s bass-face game.
21:20
Oh baby does that first heavy note just come in like a Leviathan.
Jam of the day: FUNKY COPS. I could have listened to that for hours.
Love the longer shows. Thx.
These are great! I watch/listen to these long format videos while I build guitars! Glad to see Nick and Addison back!
Joshua is the best tbh, I love the quick story plots A+

I legit watch these while I’m doing housework, making coffee, putting babies to bed. Keep it up!

Sounds like a theme for a jam
So proud of my little flamma for having trails.
Everytime they do the jams, I think, "I could listen to this for hours."
The collection of stankfaces around the 22min mark had me about pissing myself.. 😂
This show has always has my full attention while I'm watching it.
OH MY GODS! THAT SOUND! MUST OWN! 21:47
The Respiria jam warranted some alternative/dramatic/darker jam lighting. Applies to many if not all y’allz jamz.
I love these podcast style videos. No rush just talk about the topics and jam. Please keep up the amazing work!
This was great! Killer jams, great sounding pedals, and I was laughing the whole time. You guys are hilarious.
Love these longer episodes, keep 'em coming please!
AC Noises and the "bluebox" type pedal are legit af. Jams are solid 🔥
100% agree! 😉
Love the long form live content. Thanks!
Love the juice beats and jam at the end!!!!
Nice you got the ft Meatball! I got one of the first ones and the Unknown Flanger too which is killer.
Mastro Valvola LEM it's a rhythmic war machine. thank you for the show!
Loved this, slower paced, episode. More please!
Josh strumming with a bundle of cash is the greatest internet event ever.
But it was fake cash. Too much like using digital to model analog sounds....
“Funky Cops (Tulsa)” seriously needs a video 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
the fuzz sounds great with the Avalanche, that was the best part, thx for sharing Josh :)

I don’t remember the full story from the video, but Josh smith only plays “cheap non alkaline batteries” in his pedals
If we just told guitarist solar power sounds better we could probably halt global warming.
Subtlety
King Tone (the guys behind Duelist etc) also sell similar thingy. Josh Smith and Eric Johnson swears by carbon batteries for fuzzes. Not for other pedals (like powering Strymon Timeline with carbon battery will be funny ride, haha).
Unless you’re using copper top vintage cells relic’ed by the Fender Custom shop, your tone is gonna suck with any pedal.

Dude, Nick's gotta trip that kit out more often. Twist that purple nurple and let dem drums go wild. Inspiring.
If y'all don't make a 4 way buddy road trip movie by 2023, I'm off this planet. Serious.

"Mise en abyme", that's the French term you were looking for. Look that up. Infinite mirrors is something else I think.
