Great to see the successful repair, well done! If I may suggest something for all of us repair folks; 4:05 > Two or three thicknesses of heat-shrink tubing on the 5mm Allen key shaft, where that shaft bumps into the edge of the sound hole, will save us the regret of that hard angled steel shaft damaging the wood. On my Allen keys used in tight spots I have ground the interfering areas smooth to reduce the chance of dinging the instrument. A happy Tech = happy customers. Cheers all!
I bought a Dean Playmate acoustic bass at a garage sale that was bowed like this, and took a chance on heating it up and clamping it to straighten it. I got lucky that it worked. I really did not know what I was doing. I just ordered a heat thermometer. Always a pleasure to learn something from you Scott.
Scott as I said Sir you are a wizard another fine job. As I had said before I reached out and I have a 66 Fender jazz bass that had the same neck bow issue however locally they were unable to straighten it out with the same heat process and would like to ask you is there something you could do more than what was done on your video to help me to straighten my neck out?
@@harpethguitar Yes you are exactly right I believe it needs to be replaced. Can you perform this my fingers are crossed that you can although I've never seen you demonstrate that on your channel?
I forgot to say it seemed somebody has this so tight it cannot be adjusted any more and I just want to let you know I did not do this it was done by the previous owner which doesn't make it any better nonetheless I hope you can help me?

I honestly confess I didn't know Martin made an acoustic bass...and it sounds so deliciously good! Great job and great vid Scott!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I’d never seen one before either!
Good job buddy! I turned one of those into a fret less for a client. I find those infrared heat sensors very inconsistent.

That's awesome! Good for you and the Dean!
Cool acoustic bass, thanks for showing us this technique
You bet!
Scott that must suck to have a expensive bass like that warp like a banana!!!! The customer must have cried when he brought it to you
Yes! There were tears of joy when he picked it up. lol 😂
Great info. You’re a great teacher. Violent Femmes bassist has some sick licks on acoustic bass was hoping you would bust out Country Death Song. lol
@@christophernorman2781 missed opportunity!

I have one of these Martin Bass. It sounds so good.

Maybe the truss rod is compromised?

What about Dave's world of fun stuff heat rig he made?

👏 👏👏👏
Curious...at what temperature would you risk the fret board loosening?
Anything higher than what I mentioned. Move the heat source further away to keep the temperature below the danger zone
What does the B mean in the B-1? :)
🤣🤣🤣
