Hi! I'm Sarah, mom of 3 daughters and wife to a busy chef! I have been a working mom from the start and have had jobs as an English teacher, nanny, daycare provider in our home, and now I focus solely on helping other busy moms create balance that sticks with my brand Work Life Glue. I am homeschooling and juggling creating a business while being a mom/wife/friend/daughter/sister/etc. It can be a lot, but I'm SO glad this is my life! I love to share how I fit everything in, how I keep our home organized and functioning well for my family, what I do to keep my girls learning and having fun, how I stay on top of all the things that come along with being a mom and homemaking, and so much more! I would love to see a day in the life video of homeschooling just to see how you balance between your preschooler and your first grader and the baby, I would also know what you’re going to do and how you’re going to introduce homeschooling to the girls.
Loved coming along! I'm sat making my list for the next 2 days and feeling motivated after a tough few weeks getting through work and end of year school commitments for our kids! Our schools finished this week for the 6 week break and I've got 5/almost 6 weeks off with my kiddos too. Literally can't wait to enjoy the extra family time and crack on with some more decluttering.

What about using burlap twine to hang from the beams up against the wall in scallops, and then using clothespins to clip their art to? And for books, I like your system for library books. What if you used that same shelf for learning books, and placed it up on the hearth in front of your storage curtains. Or if you keep the table turned you could place the bookshelf up against the table at the end.

Glad you are getting better❤️ my opinions on the school room.. move Arty’s tree to the window.. he will thank you.. i think the art work can be displayed on the large wall at entrance.. the kids can be proud and reminded every time anyone comes or goes. I like the table facing the way you had it at the end of this video.. i feel like the room feels more cluttered with the large dresser there.. but hard to reposition or move that...
i also closed my daycare last year due to COVID-19. I am in school, hoping to get into the Radiology program and currently trying to get a job while still being a mom to our 2 girls still at home (11 and 17).

Ha thank you! The room actually feels so much cleaner and brighter with the dresser in there in person and it is so functional for us. I may eventually get rid of the cabinet next to it but for now it’s functional too. The cat tree used to be by the window but it just felt so clunky with it in front of the curtains and he got fur all over them.

My thoughts on your playroom: first of all, I love everything you've done with it and everything inside of it. It's so bright and spacious! You have so much incredible stuff in there but I understand not wanting to rotate/store it downstairs, I wouldn't either. You have something like 5 large storage units in that room, and a lot of other small storage units and drawer sets. I wonder if you couuld sell those large storage items, and instead do a complete wall to wall unit? It could have surface space and taller units - you know there are a million ikea combinations. Then you would be able to use where the brown shoe cabinet was as a place for the art display, and you can remove the current shelves on either side of the fireplace and put lower, clear acrylic shelves to hold books forward facing. It would be so beautiful with the currtains open, but the curtains would also give each of the older girls an enclosed reading nook. I think overall, reducing the visual clutter in that room would be beneficial, something like the large cube unit you have in there now, but just.. more of that!
Ha you are so right! So many storage units! I didn’t want to spend any more so I got resourceful using stuff we have! I’m going to see how it goes this year and if we even like doing school in there before I invest anymore - but I like the idea of a more fixed solution. The other issue though is that the shoe cabinet is on a part of the wall that is bumped out, so it’s not flush with the other white pieces. And I never thought of doing something different with the storage behind the curtains - that would make a nice display if I did have room for the stuff behind those somewhere else. We shall see!

We are homeschooling for the first time with the same age and I love all you offer here about homeschooling. We have a house similar to yours and our main area is our lower level, but we have books all over the house- a basket for library books, books in end tables, books on shelves in the rooms. Books everywhere!

Glad your feeling better. I know hao you feel when you want get get stiff but but your body is telling you no. I have fibromyalgia that i was diagnosed with last year and i have had to learn to listen to my body or other wise i end up in so much pain its crazy.
My counters are never uncluttered and I always have dishes drying. I wish I could have the nice clean empty countertops but we live here! 🤪😊
The only time mine ever look like that is if I’m filming a full video with the kitchen in the background. Then I take the crap and put it in the dining room. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I keep clear counters most of the time. Our dishwasher has a heated dry cycle but honestly things do get messy in there! It just means that everything has an 'away spot' off the counter. Nothing homes on the counter.
Now that you moved the table can you find a hanging plastic/see through holder to put some books in under the window.

Would the cat tree fit where the blue rolling cart and drawers are now? (Like remove them from beside the table/window and put cat tree there) Then you could use that whole wall next to the dresser for book shelfs lower and art display upper

My Father's Word curriculum, which is similar to Heart of Dakota, has a planned time of the day called Book Basket. They give you a list of books that correspond with the themes for whatever you're teaching that week, and your students look through the basket for 15 minutes each day and read or look at the books that interest them. It's the "feast" part of the Charlotte Mason philosophy. I wonder if that would work for what you're wanting to do, themed books to match what you're learning about. Maybe a basket on that black cabinet under the map? I would suggest on the cushions by the fireplace but I'm guessing that Gwen would find those :).
That’s a great idea! I almost went with My Father’s World! It’s very similar in approach as Heart of Dakota.
@@HomeschoolGlue I decided to try it this year because of your Heart of Dakota video lol. It combines all of the things that I want to combine (classical, unit studies, notebooking, Charlotte Mason, living books, etc.), but it does all of the work for me :). I don't follow their recommendations 100% for the extra stuff you need to buy because we already had some things that were working for us, but I really like it overall. I did check out Heart of Dakota too, after watching your video, but for whatever reason, I ended up choosing MFW. We've done three weeks so far and we really like it.

what is covering your fireplace hearth? I need something and can only find corner covers. Glad you are feeling better!
We used plywood and covered it with foam, batting, and fabric and laid them down. Then we drilled a cube unit into the brick to cover the actual fireplace
What about displaying the themed books on the piece of black furniture when you enter the room
I could do that! I would like my 3 year old to be able to read them though and it’s too tall
This was going to be my suggestion as well. I use tabletop easels to display books that correlate with our current theme.
@@HomeschoolGlue I am sure you or her sister would gladly reach them for her......try not to overthink every nuance as you begin this journey..........
Depending on height of furniture, perhaps a small stool to grab it independently if they want to read it?
Another thought….. I’ve seen people use ikea products to display books, is there any prominent wall space?
@@raccoon_pawz Oh I get it! I just know she is a "figure out a way to get it the five minutes Mama is busy and then make a giant disaster" kind of kid at her current age so I have to think about the "what ifs" a lot!
take a piece of bord a paint it and put on it look what i made. put three paper holder thing on it.
