This is why you diversify your wealth into different investment vehicles. Do T-bills, Do Mutual Funds, Keep Foreign Currencies, Trade crypto if need be.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Professor has not only taken her time to disseminate this vital information for building worth but has indeed shared her experience (s). It's our turn to take what we've heard, learned, do our only due diligence and decide which investment portfolio fit our financial goals and time horizon. Happy investing everyone and thank you Professor Jess
Hahaha. I'm no professor. Only sharing my few thoughts on the subject
Jessica, thanks for the insightful information. However, I think there's another perspective to look at it. While it's definitely a great idea to hedge a portion of ones portfolio in USD, GBPs, ie forex, there's something to say for tbills when compounding interest comes in. Although the analysis and outcomes hold for a simple interest comparison, it doesn't really hold against a compounding interest even with the performance of our t-bills rate say for the last 10 years. Compound interest changes the dynamics. I'd love to discuss the numbers if it stirs up your interest.
I don't think this applies to someone who earns in dollars because even if you travel you need to change your money into local currency to do any transactions. & comparing to inflation someone as to think twice to put cash a side in a dollar account than investing somewhere.
If I had known u had a youtube channel I would have subscribed long ago . I can't get enough of u hun
Thanks for the sub
Jessica, I love the thumbnail 😅. Hilarious and on point... crunching the numbers right there.
@JessicaOS Good content but you failed to acknowledge the compounding interest part, which I still think makes the T-bill not a bad choice, especially when you have some big funds to lend to the goverment for some time enough. Remember the foreign exchange rate is also NEVER static.
You are right, I never thought about it that way. I always looked at the interest being so big. Thank you
Happy to help!
I'm so much engrossed in this financial advisory kinda thing. Jess please give us more stuffs on this. God bless 🥰😇
I'll do my best
You’ve made a good point. In America, we are more worrying about the economy in general when it comes to investing. When the economy is flourishing, the interest rate on return tends to be great... but when the economy is in recession, the interest rate on return is likely to be low. I would not mind buying treasury bills in a good economy at all.
I’m glad I came across your channel. This is the first video I’m watching. I just transferred money last week to invest in a T-Bill for a year. For me personally it is better than me opening an ISA in the U.K. as the interest rate isn’t great and hasn’t been for years. I have purchased a house in Ghana. My plan is to have multiple streams of income. When I’ve left money in my bank in my savings account in Ghana (Barclays or whatever their new name is) they chopped my money.
Lol. Chopped my money
Motivation from experience 😎😎..... Good myself.
The T-Bill was a good investment. I spoke to my broker last week who gave me some good advice.
I just love you Jess. You are real and authentic and you deserve the best! Be blessed beyond measure!
Thank you so much
Good one there. Very educative there. I must say thank you very much.that was very thoughtful.
Finally aunty Jessica gave us some interesting topic
This is such a great video and kudos to you for putting it up. I think your calculation based on simple interest and investing for just a short term of just 91 days or six months will definitely result in a fall in face value of your initial capital in dollar terms. However there is the magic of compound interest (rolling over interest + capital for the next 91 day tenure), thus if you keep this same amount and roll over every 91 day for a period of say 4 to 7 years your results will be greater in both cedi and dollar terms. You can try that out. All in all to get the best out of every investment you must be in it for the long term. Thank you.
true! thanks for this
Yeah.. that's true
Healthy investment is to be in it for a while to earn much yield
Thanks for sharing Jessie, God bless you
Advice on Financial investment for free...Kudos Sister Jessie.
Thank you very much for this information 😊. Really loved treasury bills but my mind is changed now. Wanted to know about other more lucrative investment opportunities, like mutual funds.
What's better is changing that money into dollars and buying global stable stock like Tesla and Apple, which mostly have one way to go: up. In the same period that Jess described, if you have bought a Tesla or Apple, both splitted into 4-1 and 5-1, the gains would have been massive. Just food for thoughts. We live in a global economy and your money do not need to work where you live but where it can grow
If only is safe and works for u 👍
I get your analysis but it is quite simplistic. The entry time and exit time with the dollar may or may not be beneficial but T'bill is risk-free and you are certain of the amount you will receive. If your appetite for risk is high then the dollar would be a good option, otherwise stick to T-Bill.
It's never true that t-bill is risk free. The only risk t-bill enjoys is default-free risk. Apart from that, it is susceptible to inflation risk, exchange rate risk etc etc
@@augustinedonkor6438 This is known by people who have learnt Finance. To the ordinary person on the street, risk-free means default risk. It is believed inflation and exchange rate risked are catered for in the rate they are provided.
I just came across this video and it’s so helpful. I was going to change dollars to buy treasury bills a few months back but when I sat and did the math, I saw it was such a dumb move to make. I’m happy I didn’t buy Tb. I’m curious to know if there’s anyway to invest in dollars here in Ghana without changing it into cedis.
You are so right dear.
Hello from the US! That example calculation was extremely helpful. There are central banks in many countries that are purposefully devaluing their own currency against the dollar right now. All for the sake of keeping exports/imports competitive. There's a dollar shortage and central banks are low on foreign holdings aka US debt. Long story short, the dollar isn't dead by a long shot, it's just being bought on the cheap right now and that's about to change very soon.
Wow,I'm glad i came by this video jess, I'm grateful for your help and we the youth are learning. I had this thought weeks ago to get a bill but didn't know how to go about it. Pls tell us more. God bless
Glad it was helpful!

Again a wonderful and relevant program.well done.
Government paper is directly related to stability of the country it’s dollar and the rate of inflation.
The best investments are in land and new companies that expand the services in a country e.g. telecommunications and transportation.

Interesting stuff.... thanks for insight... keep them coming... you got our ears...
Thanks, will do!
I love how open minded you are about investing, I read an article of investors that made good money within few months from shorting, so please I'd really love more tips and clues on how to outperform the market and make such profit using options
Hard assets are going up, the fed doesn't measure those because that would give it away. We have inflation.
you need a good level of skill set for shorting
Despite the COVID 19 pandemic the wise one sees it as an opportunity to make a lot of money in the market.
have you earned profit in the stock market?
True, shorting isn't for rookies but that doesn't mean they have to stay off it, I started as a rookie and in my first 5 months, I just followed the step of my consultant
Can you make a video on how to invest in stocks in Ghana
Hi Jess , thank you,I'm hooked on this..
😅💃🏾💃🏾
Thank u Jessica
Thank you very much Jess for your impressive analysis. I think I've got a theory from your analysis. This is it. If you want to benefit much from a treasury bill, let the exchange rates guide you. Hence when exchange rates are looking good over time there's much gain in treasury bills. And when exchange rates are high over time there's less gain in treasury bill.
But whatever you do you are better off buying a Tbill than locking your cash in a bank account.
And also Tbills bought for a year would be great (thus the interest involved) when exchange rates are looking good than the 91 and 182 days terms.
Great stuff.
Thank you so much. This was very insightful

Brilliant Jessie
This is so insightful
I appreciate you giving us this information🙏❤.
You're welcome
Please u said something about the 14% being the rate per annum but used it for the 91days(I.e.3month) u questioned the rate in relation to been used for the 91days calculation but notin was done to the rate in calculating it….🙏please can you help me out am planning to invest in one buh want most of my doubts cleared
Jess great presentation though as for me way back I had made up my mind never to invest in Tbills because of such dynamics coupled with tax regime in our country 😀😀...
Fair enough!
Thanks for the video... Interesting point made. Could you please elaborate on the bonds you suggest?

thanks for the feedback. Will do just that
So currently, which bank in Ghana has the best exchange rate to create dollar account and save there?
Thank you.
Yes, great analysis , most expatriates and importers do this a lot to survive but its what keeps holding the Cedi back , I guess it cant be helped will eventually join in once I have the means.
Hmmm
Insightful...
Land investment is what I prefer to any other investment 😁
Yes. But unless you're buying the land in a village, you'll need a high capital. And you will have to start a project on it immediately to avoid losing it.
thanks, Jessica awesome video. why put money into something that loses its value over time it doesn't make sense
Thank you
Hi!
Which other options of invest could one undertake aside the treasury bill?
Champion jess there she goes again, really insightful, most grateful.
Can I come for more tutorials personally lol
Lol. You'll have to find me first
@@JessicaOS I know where to find you champion jess lol, powerland, etc
Hello Jess, great video but I hope you will agree that undertaking a particular investment depends on one's risk appetite and investment objective. Every investment has inherent risk including treasury bills even though it is described as risk free. And one needs to determine the objective for which they want to undertake a particular investment plan. The forex market is highly volatile and it's termed as high risk and in investment the higher the risk the higher the return which may not be the preference for everyone. So the term portfolio diversification. You should not put all your eggs in one basket is what is basically meant by portfolio diversification. So by all means treasury bills is necessary - risk free element and then one can add forex, shares, bonds, business, property etc in order to hedge against risk. My humble opinion please
Great submission
@@JessicaOS Thank you
Jessica Os - good attempt at explaining this topic. However, why are you using the US Dollar?
I personally think in the short term it would be better
Its better than the savings part though
My dear u soo gud,thank u.

Hi Jessica. As always eloquent and thanks a lot for the information. I'm thinking of investing some money(not a lot) can you provide some examples of where I can invest? So far I use my bank and have a treasury bill. Thank you.

Tbill is the best
I agree with what you are saying but to go that route you got to be a clever invester who really understands many economic and political issues that may tumble or appreciate the dollar.
True
Please how do I save my money in a dollar account.. And also which investment is best to opt for..Am in need of dying help..🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I'm in the same situation as you. Pls , we need a reply.
So, what causes the cedi to depreciate? If we can know specific reasons why that happens, then we can know if it will continue to depreciate or not which will help us over here in the USA to make a smart decision. The value of the dollar could fall, most like in 2021 and beyond. the reason is that the US treasury will be pumping more money into the system to stimulate the economy. This should impact the cedi to rise in value.
This is therefore a good time to invest in treasury bills, in my opinion.
Naaa, when the demand for dollars is higher than the demand for cedis, it will force the cedis to depreciate....so as you said... They pumping more dollars into the system will cause higher demands for it

I think the illustration is not balanced, you have only outlined the risks of investing in TBs, what about the benefits. When the currency of country depreciates, that affects the prices of goods and services because of imports, in the end inflation goes up. To make the TBs attractive - the central banks tend to match the inflation rate or above. So yes, in the short term which you should have said, TB’s attract exchange loses, in the long term they always win or very minimal loses.
Hi gal. I love your videos..... you are amazingly good. what about Money Market Fund? and thank you.
@Jess Thanks for sharing you insights and thoughts on treasury bills.
As someone in the diaspora based in the UK and looking at diversifying my investment options along with investing in Ghana, is there an advantage on interest gains if profits are then used in local currency (Cedi) in Ghana ?
Do you invest in Treasury Bills ?
I currently don't have a treasury bill portfolio. My most recent investment was in the 182 day cocoa bill
from my point of view. I think its rather a smart move .Tell me which kind of investment will make your yields and still get your capital invested back without risk of loosing that capital? our leaders are disappointing us by allowing inflation to rocket up. tbill in any uk bank is less than 1 or equal to 1 pound so Ghana Tbill is still far better than the UK
.... still feel the same? Lol
Buy gold instead of changing your money in a foreign currency.
Great illustration 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
So Jessy converting your money to dollars will be the best move than even saving your money in cedis without the actually working?
Secondly,
How about keeping your money in the bank without investing or converting your cedis to dollar and creating a dollar account, which is better please and why ?
Point one, would be valid if the cedi continues to depreciate. Point 2. you lose purchasing power if the cedi continues to depreciate and yet just sits in your account. Conclusion, it's not smart at all to just keep your money in savings
Great vid... You should introduce ghanaians to Decentralized Finance, and CRYPTOCURRENCY 👌...
It's the same thing with treasure bills but rather on the blockchain network... No banks involved...plus higher percentage yield 🏋🏽♂️💯
Hi Jessica...thanks for the information...
Buh what of you doing the T.bill in a different country will it still depreciate or its still not the best option
Will all depend on the stability of the currency you use
Wow! Yes I got some sense here, thank you.
What is the name of the app?
Nice handwriting 👌👌🤗
Which app???
Does that mean it will be advisable to open a dollar account rather? ...and if treasury bills are that risky ...will really appreciate if you can share which investment will be better. As usual...awesome content
Thanks
No problem
But would forex just sell 100 USD to anyone.....?... thought they only sell above 100 or
The more the dollar buying goes on by the populace, we all contribute to further depreciation on the cedi. Your thoughts.
True. The unfortunate downside.
But changing to dollars would make the cedi depreciate more
unfortunately!
