Why is everyone complaining about the music tho? He gives explanation why this video has some music on, yet these people still complaining. smh 🤦🏻♀️ Also, isn't easy at all doing a closer shoot on the eruption mountain. Can't you just appreciate his work?

this sea volcano is still continuing grow like others like the krakatau. your channel is awesome. you should explore more there are hundreds of active volcanoes in Indonesia.

It's a tiny little volcano chuffing out small rocks. Mt St Helen's shifted millions of tons of rock in a moment. Get a grip on reality and proportion.

If you only saw it during the day, you would think the active centre was a cone built out of pyroclasts thrown out from the vent during explosions. It isn't until night falls that you learn the truth- that it's actually a growing lava dome. Then you can see that underneath the surface layer of stones it is red hot, and that the rocks that occasionally tumble down its flanks are actually bits of the lava dome breaking off and falling downslope.

Next video will be Reventador, from the same trip to Ecuador back in January as for the Sangay video I posted recently. Near perfect inner cone, but definitely didn't climb it - huge explosions!

Great job... some risky positioning at times but well worth it for what you got. I'm sure many professional volcanologists will be thrilled to see this. btw I was not bothered by the music at all because my system's speakers were muted when I watched.
It was much better to leave the natural sound of the volcano than the music but is very good video. Thank you.

Kerry Smith ever heard of video editing software? He can edit the real sounds in post so that it matches up with the video. Also, let’s see you get closer than he did. You’d be dead.

Folks, I got the feedback and have since bought an external more wind-proof microphone - check out my latest Yasur video where I first used it. For this Sangeang Api one, I simply didn't have any usable audio outside those brief explosions other than wind noise and silence (because drones don't have mics).

Yeah, great video. Now I’ll be a bit more diplomatic then some of the other comments about the music. For something like this the best soundtrack, I feel, is mother nature’s. The explosions, the low level rumbling that I’m sure were present, the sound of the boulders rolling down the mountain, those sort of things. The music really destroys the the natural drama that is taking place.
Thanks Fred, diplomatic gets a response :-) The tricky bit is the environment these shots are taken in - top of a mountain on a small exposed island surrounded by ocean = very windy. Built-in camera mics are completely overwhelmed by that for anything short of a major explosion, and even those get largely ruined. I have since bought a supposedly wind-proof external mic (yet another thing to haul up and down these mountains for my lovely RUclips audience ;-)), see my first test video on Yasur volcano that I posted recently. Second challenge is distance - those tumbling boulders I flew the drone to from more than 1km away to get these close-ups, and drones don't have mics (would be pointless b/c of rotor noise). And in the moment the focus is mostly on flying safely - flying rocks, risk of misjudging vertical distance when flying remotely, oh and did I mention the strong winds? I'll keep trying to get better audio on future trips...
hshdude Thanks for the response. Obviously people, including myself, don’t realize all the obstacles you have to overcome to record the sounds. With I would guess wind being the major one most of the time, and I definitely will check out your Yasur video, as with all the others. Great videos.
As for your drone, have you ever lost one? It looks like you’ve come REALLY close to flying it into several ash clouds.
@@boeing900 The ash clouds are moving quite a bit slower than it looks like in the time lapses, so I was always ready to pull up and back if they got to close. I was actually more nervous getting so close to the ground and tumbling rocks at that lava flow front from the distance.
