I’m so happy there are still lolita’s out there. I’ve been wanting to start wearing lolita for about a year now, and it seems like it was more popular a couple years ago. I’m always happy to find lolita’s still posting.

It's supposed to be fun, if it's weighing you down then something isn't right-thank you! Oh my gosh I just can't even believe how much people absolutely want to criticize and attack other people for how they do fashion! Like I myself am very wrapped into goth and I love so many aspects of the various subgenres that surround goth and geez people wanna fight me left and right how like oh you can only be goth if you do it the trad way, none of that "nu-goth" garbage or "pastel goth, cyber goth, casual goth, gothic Lolita even all been criticized to me by people before or they wanna fight over how I did my makeup (usually "That's too colorful to be goth, goths don't wear pink lipstick, don't wear that shade of red lipstick, no colorful eyeshafow ever, why would you use your natural skin color you need to get some greasepaint and make yourself white!" Etc etc) I'm also interested in Lolita and that just brings a whole new bag of problems in peoples eyes. "Can't be goth and be interested in lolita- at best you can be gothic Lolita bit not the ordinary cute Lolita no no no goth would ever wear pastel pink and cute things!111!" Or other crap like "only Asians can be Lolita, Lolita is an inappropriate fetish" the fact that I haven't lost all the weight I'm trying to get gets me "too fat to be goth, too fat to be Lolita" comments all the time. And I'm just like people! Let people just enjoy what they like and buzz off! Ugh why do people need to be like this. Anyways sorry for the rant lol I just appreciate some positivity like the kind you have surrounding these topics that for some reason it feels like so much of the community has forgotten.

The way you described it made it sound like this is the 80s of Lolita.

I don’t know if you ever had a livejournal but there use to be some toxic livejournal communities that use to have strict rules on what was considered Lolita. I remember how discouraging it was to read those. Im so glad you put out this video. It is very encouraging. I do really want to start incorporating more Lolita style in to my wardrobe.

DevilFlamingo Yeah- there are some horrible things on livejournal. But don't let it ever stop you! They attacked me lots a few years ago, but they're just petty people with long noses.

Bless you! Casual lolita is such an incredibly broad term and I love how you put this here.

Casual, Old School, and the 00's were what drew me to the fashion in the first place, and I still prefer them, since I feel like I have more room to play around. I like being pretty and girly, but OTT is too much for me to wear, personally, even though I love looking at it.
Thank you for this video, I thought it was a very good explanation, and it did make me feel better about my preferences! Plus, it's always so lovely to see another Lolita with tattoos and piercings.

    Thank you so much.
I have never been one for ott
More of a casual. I might get back into it.

For me casual lolita fashion is something a bit more economic, here where i live in spain, alt clothing is nowhere to be seen, the most alt is always a casual goth look. (love to see them)
Alt clothing is so expensive here, a plain black dress can be 100 euros, so it's easier to buy casual clothing + some accessories from a cheap store and pair it all together to get that lolita look, but it won't be as cute and fluffy-looking as clothing marketed for lolita (or any alt style) Or steal from my grandma's closet ((she let's me borrow them))

Are there Lolita conventions? If so does it have like guests that are like Lolita models or people from brands? Also a lot of stuff on sale?

Sometimes big lolita brand names will have tea party events and/or fashion shows; usually during a convention. Mois Meme Moitie recently had one. I believe it was in Texas.
Regarding sale items; no. No sale items. But again, big brand names will do 'lucky packs' which you can buy. A lucky pack can consist of a dress, blouse, and accesory for 'x' amount of money. But it's a surprise/gamble. Usually there's a few different styles and you won't know what you're getting. You just choose the size and save big.
One company that is doing a lucky pack sale right now is Glitzy Wonderland. They're a website that sells a few different brands.
