The Belfair is definitely a modern take on the basket weave stitch. I prefer the Willow myself. Thank you for this comprehensive comparison.❤🧶

The Basketweave Pullover by Meslissa Leapman is great! It has a 1/4 front zipper and our 23 year old grandson loves it for Pacific Northwest outdoor wear. IU really enjoyed knitting it, too.

I test knit the willow so am biased there, but this one is definitely my preference. The size inclusivity, the bottom up construction (to get used to the pattern), and the DK gauge check all the boxes for me. The pattern is also very well-written and easy to follow.

The bellfair does look nicer overall imo. Also top down, I think you said? All beautiful though.

In the Merch line at Rhinebeck on Saturday (50 minutes long!), I stood with a knitter wearing the Willow sweater and it was gorgeous! Definitely made me push it towards the front of my queue.

I'm feeling like I'll need to make both the Belfair and the Willow!

I’m making the Willow now using fingering and mohair held double. I just started it a little over a week ago and am flying through it! My biggest recommendation is to check your gauge differences between knitting flat and knitting in the round. I like to live on the wild side and cast on without a proper swatch more times than not 😅 and I can tell the difference in the fabric on this pullover so far. Good luck!

What a timing :) I actually bought a Korshavn sweater pattern few days ago :) So I will be doing that in near future hopefully.

I just bought some Katia Cotton-Merino, which is very similar to the Woolfolk Luft but at a lower price point. Could be an option to consider. 😊

Ah yes. Thank you. I had forgotten about that yarn. Great suggestion!

Very nice. It would be helpful to have a time stamp or separate chapter for each sweater.

Definitely leaning towards Willow because of the lighter yarn weight, it will be more flattering on people who have a larger chest
