@@GuitarPilgrim Speaking of Elvis… I love the guitar riff on A Little Less Conversation. There’s quite a few guitar lessons for that one on RUclips, but nobody seems to get it right - well, except for a young Russian? girl… You should also check out the guitar work on Elvis‘ version of Gentle On My Mind.
I saw Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley all on the same show in London, back in the late fifties. Jerry stole the show with his antics. I seem to remember he set light to his piano.
"Compared to that, today's pop music is................shite!." Haha. Love it. No you're not getting old at all. You're getting real. Keep on up with the truth brother. Little Richard is the DOGS BOLLOX!
You make playing look effortless and give a confidence to this follower, that it is achievable! Breaking the complexity down into steps all in the one well edited structured dyslexic friendly way. Thank you for your inspection and guidance to the next level playing.
I agree with you I went to see Little Richard play and Chuck Berry 10 years ago, stayed in the hotel overnight and it was perfect timing I met Little Richard in person next morning and we shook hands and he say to me God Bless you. It was amazing!
Cool lesson. I really liked how you presented the riff from level 1 to level 3. Something relatively simple to start with and then be able to build on it when you get more comfortable and confident in playing it.
6 years old. My aunt lived with us and took me to school. While she was getting ready for work she stacked the 45s on the stereo. Lucille, When A Man Loves a Woman, Tutti fruitti and on and on......
Thanks for another great riff! I always loved Deep Purple's cover of the song from their Made In Japan era. I have to agree with you regarding Little Richard's voice... he was absolutely one of the best! He had that natural distortion/growl that really does remind me of a horn too.
Great stuff! As a beginner or intermediate player I think it can feel quite bewildering at times when you look at someone like Hendrix. Love the way this lesson helps you to see where those raunchy licks are rooted and understand how (and indeed why) to get there. Now just need to try and try again.
Awesome! I really love your channel and you are an awesome guitar player as well, that seems to also have a tremendous amount of fun doing what you do! I have been a fan of rock music since the early 70`s and one group that I first loved was Grand Funk Railroad and the guitarist Mark Farner. I loved his style of playing and would love for you to cover some of his music. Thanks for your wonderful channel!
keep up the good work Guitar Pilgrim. I love your channel i am an intermediate / advanced player and i learn so much by watching your channel. you are truly insightful. i have even seen other you tubers copying you lessons to post on their own.
Another great video as usual. You always have such great tones with your Strat which to my ears sometimes sound even better than the original tones for those particular tracks. It would be much appreciated if you would kindly share the settings for your Strat tone in this video, including your guitar’s volume and tone knob and also the type of amp and/or pedals you are using on your software/plugin, and the settings for them. Of course I know that much of your guitar tone comes from your hands and your soul. Many thanks, you do really rock.
Question on your technique, you have a pretty loose picking hand, are you landing accurately on each single note pick, or are you heavily relying on left hand muting of the neighboring strings? Your right hand is not anchored, so curious if you are able to accurately hit only the intended string. Love your videos and enthusiasm!
Good Golly Mr Pilgrim! That was so nasty! I enjoyed it. I loved Elvis' voice but Little Richard is in different class all by himself! I love 50's rock music & agree about your feelings on today's music. I don't listen at all. I bought a new truck last year & have never tuned the radio. I'll have to revisit this song to add your level three embellishments. Damn those F7 & G7 stabs. So simple yet so hot! "UH!" & then the riff!! Hell yeah. Thanks for the great video. 00
Great video Thom! Agreed about Little Richard & his unique style of singing. However, there are many more that can be mentioned, not the least of which is one of my all time favorites, the one and only Roy Orbison! 👍👍😉😉 BTW, how is your baby daughter doing? I hope that everyone is doing well.....
The 50's was where it's at. By the way Jimi Hendrix once said that the reason he initially experimented on his guitar to go beyond the traditional music he had played in a support role was because of his time working for Little Richard. It was those live performances and the excitement of the crowds caused by Richard that made him want to do on his guitar what Richard did with his voice.
Hail hail Rocknroll ! Yes guitar pilgrim correct! nothing compares to those early days . Elvis on sun records little Richard chuck berry the evrrlys and fats domino
You are getting old (we all are unless we are dead), but you are not wrong about the death of good pop music. I feel blessed to have been nurtured in the 50s. And you Still Rock HARD!
Another top video, mate... and so entertaining :) ...Inspiring, as usual... as you make the riff *achievable*. Whiz Bang. BTW, a fairly standard 'form' of riff for the time, I guess... For some reason, after Little Richard, I think of Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" and the Beatles' "Birthday". Don't y'love how y'brain makes all these associations!? :))
Hey Dutchmen, you always play with such high energy. very nice! thxs for your lessons! Maybe you should try some Status Quo as well. The rhythm guitar of rick Parfitt is one of a kind and so are there country-pop? rock songs! groetjes van Marco vanuit Lelystad :)
I've been saying it for years no one could match the voice of Little Richard even Elvis sang his songs not so well though, Richards backing was the best as well a lot of the recordings being done by session musicians with the likes of Earl Palmer on drums I never tire of hearing his music

I think Elvis was the best.

Hey man, you can do an vídeo about Derek Trucks
Love this riff man! (And your playing 🤟🏻🎸.)
RUclips Guitarists UNITE!
I saw Little Richard once. I swear it was like watching a huge fireball. Amazing energy and heart pounding performance from the that music genius.
I saw Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley all on the same show in London, back in the late fifties. Jerry stole the show with his antics. I seem to remember he set light to his piano.
You can see when playing this kinda thing how Hendrix picked up some ideas after touring with Little Richard.
You're right! The old music was the best. I'm 74, still listen to Chuck, Little Richard and others.
"Compared to that, today's pop music is................shite!." Haha. Love it. No you're not getting old at all. You're getting real. Keep on up with the truth brother. Little Richard is the DOGS BOLLOX!
You’ll never be too old. Today’s music is nowhere as good. Love your lessons , from south east London
That really made me laugh out loud. Not mincing your words:-)

In 3 words : great, great and...great. Thank you for this video. Fabrice from Paris, France

I am getting tired of these shows being SO good!

La j'ai trouvé enfin fin qui me parle de guitare électrique dans la pop musique, merci Maestro!!
Thanks for keeping his music alive, raw, powerful, full of energy that more modern music lacks
Excelent explication,Litle Richard was fantastic musician and rock and roller. Hello from México.

That's my favorite little Richard song
Mine is you keep on knockin
Not a Ding-a-Ling fan, huh?

‘Good Golly’ is probably second to ‘Long Tall Sally” for me.
Jenny Jenny is a good one.

Man, Guitar Pilgrim is Amazing. It's unique and always interesting, and educational and original.
Love your way to show the presentation 👍👍
I could probably play it in the technical sense. But I don't think I'm good enough yet to bring it to life like little Richard.
Now we're gettin into rock & roll !!
Little Richard is always cool, but so is James Brown, and a host of others ... Always fun :-)
great alternative arrangements

For me personally, when it comes to that era of pop music, ❤ Little Richard piano playing but nothing beats the bouncy rhythm and rest of Chuck Berry
Very good job.
Love it.
How about Johnny Winter's interpretation of Little Richard's version of Bony Maronie?
Johnny did a cover of Lucille as well. It’s on Still Alive and Well.
100% agree, very nice thanks! Bednakt.
Wonderful!!
super lesson! thanks!
This is an incredible groove, Thanks Pilgrim! Oh and nice "SHIIITE out" to JB....LOL!

There is an element of left hand muting indeed
Wow, that was so not rock and roll. 😂

Ooooooh I'm going to learn this one for sure!! Awesome!!
Another great one, thank you!
You played it well! Love your videos.
This riff defines rock n roll

Me: -.-'
Sublime playing dude !!
This is some Large Richard riffing.
You made the guitar sing. The song is old but that darn thing has the happening in it to make it better.
Amazing
good one cheers
No Guitar Pilgrim, you are not getting old.
Hi from argentine...!!!!
The best video ever....!!!!
Sorry about my grammar....
Bro, you are just so fuckin cool, these licks and phrase's you pick out for us are wicked, keep it up
This riff I believe belongs in the category of the "box shuffle". Buddy Guy, for example, favored that kind of shuffle riffing.
Can you make video about Slash or Yngwie?
Handrix player in little richard band?
You ROCK Guitar Pilgrim!
Subscribed on the word SHIIIITE!!
sounds like beatles birthday
You are great
superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
What pickups, strings and amp do you use?
What kind of amp do you use ? Great tone !
SVR really should have covered this!
Now your speaking my changuage.
You get really nice tone what kind of amps are you using?
I can play that lick - it's a sort of bass riff really. Very cool though.
The tone is great again :(
What is your setup man?
Thanks btw.
This sounds like another song I cant quite place, the rift sounds the same just the last few notes are off. Its gonna drive me nuts.
only one guy to give little richard competition; freddy mercury? what say you :)

Loose seal? 🦭
We need FRANK ZAPPA! awesome job BTW
