You do need a spare change. No worries
@@ahmxd5320 cool story bro
I'm confused, are you trying to insult him?
@@stevecampbell7589 ha trucknet fuck sake
Jay is my favourite RUclips Trucker, he was the first one I started watching back in his class 2 days.
Shhhh give me a big head haha cheers mate
Same love his vids
I've been a subscriber since he was a kid riding his pedal powered truck.
Me too, I've been watching Jay all the way through! Keep it up jay well done 👍
Absolutley first class vlogger is Jay and doesn't think himself a cut above anyone and just simply gets on with his job yes on his own admittance he was a little hot headed in the early days of rigid driving but he as grown into the artic/class 1 work I must admit I enjoy all of the Road Legends vlogs a dam good set of fellas
40:47 "Traffic up ahead" Nah love its all behind me xD
I've always carried a shovel and a bag of grit in the winter. It's a life saver.
Jay thar ruallt hil is a nightmare with out the snow. Great video really enjoyed watching it with my dad (ex lorry driver) and hearing his opinions on the video and the situation. Can't wait for the next one.
Great Vlog Jay! Glad to see everyone coming together to sort the situation out its good to see that there is still decent people out there. 👍
Cracking video Jay glad you got out safe from the snow that was some fall we had.
Thanks bug was an interesting hour or so
Cool to see people help and not just get angry. I know in New York State where I am currently, everyone hates the brine solution they use instead of grit. If applied on non plowed area the result makes even new snow tires barely enough. Love these videos.
Hard going that lad ;)
Great footage 🤘
cheers mate ran out of memory card space ;)
Trucker Jay In the UK
Hate when that happens 😖
Well done on getting out of that situation mate. This is why at this time of year I have a bag of grit strapped on my catwalk
cheers mate and i didn't think of putting one there, well i know now haha thanks
Trucker Jay In the UK 😂 no problem mate you at daf end of this month
Jay, thank you for speaking slower and louder, especially for us old half deaf gits that watch your excellent videos. I can see that you have a great sense of humour and I hope you take this comment in the same "lounge in cheek" way in which it is written. All the very best to you and yours from sunny Manchester.
sunny manchester? ha not from my window
Perfect length vlog for my 45 min break. Best truck vlogger on RUclips.
haha im not the best but thanks
Great vid Jay and def oh crap with the snow! Awesome you sorted it and that's what happens when people pull together!
You just know there is a poor Scot somewhere in the queue with a tag lift and a good set of multiways, fully prepared for it, absolutely cursing your name right now. :D
Ah well they moan about anything
@@truckerjay Well not anything 😂😂😂🏴🏴🏴
I was stuck on the m3 Basingstoke for 7 hours was mental ended up doing a 21 hour day 😂 print out ✅
You caused havoc there jay well done
Hi Jay, it's James I remember my late step dad getting stuck up in Scotland for a week without moving, stay safe Jay
And of course i get a winter tyre advert 😂😂😂
Hi Jay, been watching you and the road legends for a few weeks now, loving you Guys. Keep up the good work, and stay safe .......
Great vid glad you are safe.
Oh happy days Jay, glad I’m retired now, mind you it’s nice going out with the dog for a walk in the snow.
Keep up the good work and the first class videos.
14-16 mins you were in Colne, Laneshawbridge and Cowling. Joda Freight where my dad works not to far he does that route to pallet track wigan or down near birmingham
hey Trucker Jay in the Wonderful UK...Funny the Hardware Stores in England look just like the ones in the States, enjoy the new route you have but I have to say the road maintenance should have been on the road early so traffic did not stop like that, someone dropped the ball and than to not send any help to you lucky for you truckers a regular guy or women had some road grit for you guys, someone on the road crews could have drove the opposite way and gave you guys a hand to open traffic up..Cheers have a great weekend great to watch your vids thanks....
It’s the UK, you are lucky to drive on a gritted road. Usually you just don’t drive when it snows. Thankfully it’s once a year if that. Most cars won’t make it out to the city where I live unless they have 4 wheel drive which most people don’t have anyway.
Thanks pal, I hadn't seen one plough for the 2 hours before that. that is major route to one of the ports too. that hill is a truck killer when fully loaded anyway.
Hi TJUK, great videos by the way. You are a great wagon driver and you aee very kind person
What a nightmare !!!! , still you all got out safely that's the main thing .
take it you have an auto box. A manual with good clutch control "rocking" will find grip . A pain most of the year but ideal when its bad
@@jonnywilson9117 well thats a lie, not "all" new trucks are auto... it depends on what specification the person buying requests... all trucks (excluding some models) have a manual option
When you were driving round Colne looking for somewhere to stop, you should have stopped for a brew at mine. I was two minutes from Jewsons. My two twins are gutted that trucker Jay has been to Colne and not seen you.
shame that i can't publish where ill be in advance. say hello to the twins.
Hyia jay all i can say fantastic video great music and your doing a fantastic job keep safe take care x 👌👌👍😄😀
Thank you!
Another cracking video Jay, Pleased you got out safe, did see on kev’s vlog that you are all back at truck fest this year! Nice one! Would you do a look around the truck again morning checks etc? Hope your well Jay.
Great video again Jay
glad ur safe jay
I was on the A55 that morning going to work from J33 and it was absolute hell trying to get there. They had been gritting in the days before but clearly not that morning or over night.Traffic was horrendous.Took me over 2hrs to do a 35m journey and I heard there was trucks struggling to get up the hill.mad that is was you and a few others
My Dad got stuck on the M3 by Basingstoke that day ended up going over his working hours coz he had to get back with a bonded load he had on and no one could get out to him to take over driving, I was lucky and got down the A34 by Newbury before it got too bad
You really have a knack for good camera placement. Other truckers: take note! And, heard whales in the a/c and cows too at some point!
Glad you’re safe
He was having fun really
Leave a bag of grit on your catwalk when it’s snowing 👍
truckerjay you are the best he was my fravite when started whaching his channel keep it up
Great stuff jay as always 🙂👍
Absolute joke that the road hadn’t been gritted or taken care of. I had to drive from Aberdeen to Inverness that night and had the same problem. Nothing you could do about it.
99hammy99 how long is that drive?
Another cracking vlog foot down friday but not in that snow
You visited my home town!
Snow? Drop all the weight to the front axle, diff locks, manual and 1st and second gear only. Saves my arse in the farms when it snows! 👍
A bag of tescos table salt and tesco value cat litter... I shit you not, 2 things in winter I don't go out without them, the salt melts the ice, the cat litter gives the grip whilst also soaking up some of the moisture, worked in 2010 for me where the temperatures dropped to a record low and I lived up a mountain. ..great video, and what was the tk maxx driver doing?
"No entry" You're clearly exempt love because you have a nice car
you ever head down the A75 to cairnryan port? see loads of maxi wagons down that way👍🏻
Hi Jay, just a quick one on the Jewsons drop in Rochdale , I delivered there a few months back , it’s the only drop I’ve had a cup of tea and biscuits brought out to me , they did keep me waiting though lol...Always enjoy the vids, you seem to go to a few places I do mate.
i got a hot chocolate
At least your not in a combo van with a heart valve from Edinburgh to London with no traction at all lol , i did get there in the end just in time
@Jimmy Shaw I am trying to get out of it and get my class 2 and 1 as there is a lot of hours involved mate, i can do £550 to £800 for 6 days but thats 3 nights on call as well so if i get called out to internees at 2.30am im still expected to be out that day on town work for 11 or 12 . ps thats me owning the van and only getting paid millage and item
In a way ,it is easier in far north, and no not because they are better drivers necessarily, but roads in more temperate areas if suddenly hit by cold turn to ice. Easier to drive in Canada,New Eng.
I love trucks
Why on Earth did that guy go on your right in the first place!
aaron pine because jay lost momentum on the hill and it was give him a shove or go around the drive chose wisely I know I was there
Greetings from Skegness 😁👍
Should carry snow chains from now on
Not sure if they are allowed to have them on the motorway in england.
They are not allowed in the UK
Jordan Field wow really? I never knew that
@@drasticskillzz3094 they tear up our crappy roads, the only way you would be able to get them is from a different country
Illegal as shit, they'd probably ruin most roads but of course off road you can use what you want
I used to work for j m gorry and sons for 5 years, left 2017
Sure ya wouldn’t make an Ice Road Trucker😁
i felt for ya in the snow m8 but wot was that 4 wheeler 4x2 with the caravon on doing trying the outside lane
with no wight on hes the one who started the trouble but why the bloody hell wasnt it gritted that weather was forcast stay safe m8
Tweet the police 😂 Might have been a bit more effective to dial 101 and tell them the situation
that was obviously done first. not sure why you laugh I follow and the major road policing twitter feeds, you get the information fast when they put it out.
The UK is quite amazing tbh, when a little snow falls the roads turn into vehicle parks within hours or less, and all it takes is a little forethought and an infrastructure to cope with situations like Jay was in,... things like there used to be called "Sandboxes" on hill's, would have sorted all that cockup..
Colne my home town
Sucks to get Stuck! I just uploaded a video when I got stuck! XD
ill take a look.
may i suggest more speed when approaching hill, better chance to make it up.
That must be heart in the mouth tackle being stuck on the motorway Jay
It sounds silly, but a bag of table salt can help out in these situations... :)
oh my god just looking at them 2 trains on the back of them trailers and trucks but thay must slow pace as there very heavy
Wow great team work amazing driving and keeping your cool I'd recomend a bag of grit or salt in the cubby in the side of the truck if it will fit I have a relative who does that Al winter and is a life save just like that man in the car grat work stay safe in this shit weather
Side lockers are full of straps but a comment above said strap to the cat walk. great idea
I think truck drivers should keep a bag or two of grit in there trucks for situations like this.
You are the best
You must of come through malton (a64) when u went to Scarborough . My home town . I'll have to keep a look out next time hah . If just past my class 2 licnace and I'm really shrugging to get my foot through the door with no experience. Everyone's telling me it's the Xmas drop off . I dunno if i should do my class 1 whille it picks up or to wait and get some experience in class2 first .
Andrew Appleyard If you are serious about doing class 1 in the future then go and do it now as your Class 2 training is still in your head and all you've gotta do is get used to the increased length and learn the reverse and trailer drop/ pick up.............I know I've just got my class 1 🙂🙂
@@seanhowlett6098 yeah ano what you mean mate . Iv got.mine booked on Monday. Test is on Thursday. Wish me luck . Lol congrats on passing yourself mate
Andrew Appleyard cheers bud. You’ll be fine, the reverse is fairly easy to get right......... just listen to your trainer and once you’ve done about 10 or so the ‘turning the steering wheel the wrong way’ thing just seems to become more second nature. On my test I thought my trailer might just get in the box but I didn’t want to risk it so I did a shunt and got a minor for it.......... I thought that better than cocking up the whole test 😂😂.
Oh and yes in the spring work will pick up......... especially with the agencies.
@@seanhowlett6098 yeah thanks for the advice mate . I will take that on board and yeah its better to get a minor than fail all toghter. I'll let you no how I did ... I'll be doing the same if given the choice . I'm hoping the work picks up . Everywhere I call it's either only class 1 vacancys or nothing here . There is work on agancys I think . I called up driver hire as they keep poping up the same jobs every few days.... so when I called them they said they had 6 drivers on there books and no work for them . So I asked why keep poping adds up then . They hung up on me and it was then when I thought . Right I'm doing my class 1 !
Hiyah mate, any chance you could let me know what song is called you used for the intro, has such an amazing melody!

💙💛💙💛
grit doesnt work under that much snow how did the other truck just vanish off in the distance?
my gandfather did tell me if you can't get up a hill forwards, to turn around, and reverse up it, due to the weight pushing down on the drive wheels then it does create more grip. which is logical if you think about it plus not dragging a lot of weight behind either. no good for something like this, but if you need to get up a hill in future. :) plus yes momentum of speed is the way to get up the hill in the first place, just a shame the truck infront of you was going so slow infront of you before you got stuck.
I live in Morecambe
I think truck legends bring a bag or 2 of salt on their catwalks nowadays, I;m no legend but I do !!!!!
Don't get me wrong, I've got respect for those of you battling it out on the roads, but we are talking about poor decisions by individuals. If you can't pass, pull to the side of the road and allow others to make progress. This applys to all road user's, if you ain't prepared don't travel. As we found out a bit of gravel can go a long way. If you don't have the right boots for your vehicle, have a plan B. In this instance a bag of gravel is a good plan B.
Trucker's in Finland can drive in any weather. And they don't have any special tired to winter's.
No one is ever prepared for snow in the UK
Gritted roads, winter tyres. They aren’t driving anything different to what we have
we never have winter tyres and thats down to the company not guying them, we can only do with what we have sadly.
With Sisu trucks winter is no problem
Do trucks not carry/use chains in the UK?
Love your videos. Looking at becoming a class 1 driver in future but I've always wondered if you have to pay for parking over night, do the companies you work for cover this or does it come out your own pocket?
Thanks for your reply I appreciate it. Disappointing though that people do that shit, kind of takes away the extra pay you get for staying out if you're then having to fork out your own money to park safely
@Jimmy Shaw thanks for the advice, currently in the army and not much experience apart from driving 9 ton rigid trucks so just trying to get an idea of what to expect etc. I'll look into night trunking though thanks
I'm confused... Are snow chains (aka non-skid chains) not a thing in the rest of europe? Why are there so many trucks stuck in not even an inch of snow all over europe? Is this some sort of flatland joke, I'm too austrian to understand?!?
What intro song do you use?
i got to ask this but dose your truck have a C.B radio ?
not far from me isnt scarborough jay
saw another maxxi wagon on tuesday little one not you
Jay, in this situation where you're stuck.. What do you do with your tacho? do you change anything?
Matt Lee stick it on break! Whenever and wherever I’m stopped I stick it on break apart from weighbridges and diesel pumps
👍
Lovely Rochdale????????
😊
First sign of snow and everyone who has only a standard car license to their name suddenly thinks they are the ghost of Marcus Gronholm and Evan Muller combined, and can drive anything on from snow to ice at high speed.
Being top knowledged drivers they also have no idea who those fellas are....
Ummm ok
Chains make a big difference in snow, why don't you carry them
not legal in the UK
If you didn't have a shovel you could of just moved the snow away with your feet when you was stuck
it was Ice mate not the snow
Why not lift mid axel an put moor Wight on your drive
i did
Trucker Jay In the UK ok did not notice in the vid
Ridiculous that that small amount stopped you. Not your fault though.
@badweather
Saving on money by not gritting, but costing twice as much in delays .. only in England
eh-hem wales :0
This country is just so underprepered
winter tyres is all you need
Colne....
Get out and help though?
you got enough drinks jay?
Always haha
Stupid driver
Pardon?
The driver that nearly hit the caravan
Why isn't it mandatory for truck drivers to carry snow chains in the UK? A lot of other road users will have been seriously inconvenienced by truckers who get stuck behind trucks that can't move. And it doesn't help when tools like that TX Maxx driver decide to have a go at overtaking in those conditions. He's probably the same kind of trucker who will deliberately obstruct traffic on dual carriageways by driving alongside another HGV at 56 MPH for mile after mile- too stupid to realise that he isn't going to get past, and too stubborn to drop back into Lane 1.
Cos they are not legal in the uk
@@truckerjay Ok, fair enough. Bit daft though.
@@truckerjay they are legal in the uk, a quick google search proves most people wrong
should of rang the highways agency
Called 101
Brits need to learn to drive in the snow lol it's like 1/2inch 😂
