I'm a van driver and we got a fleet of vehicles. Usually we would be assigned different vans each day. But now with COVID they do their best to give us the same vehicle all week!! x
Another good blog Jay! You were dead right about the load. It's your licence at the end of the day. It looked a right kip of a place to be fair, I'm surprised they didn't ask you to throw some on the roof LOL
Same here. There’s no way I’d tramp out all week in a different truck. I have my own Scania which only I drive which means no other sweaty smelly bloke is sleeping in my bed, and my wagon is kitted out with all my own stuff. Microwave, fridge, pics of my kids home from home or as near as possible.
thought I'd give you a tip for if you get another Volvo but when pulling off you do not need to manually release the parking brake as when you put it into drive and press the accelerator it will release for you automatically
Great vid Jay. Good to see your daily checks, tight space manoeuvring and standing your ground when people try it on. Keep’em coming. Stay safe. 👍🏴
Thank you Jay. Enjoyed another of your videos. Don't you get fed up of moving from one unit to other unit Thanks again. Take care and stay safe and safe trucking. John Whitehouse
Cracking vlog Jay that was abit tight down there and abit rough I thought you were going into some derelict buildings at first.Keep up the good work mate
Hi Jay,noticed you were having to play the trailer shuffle again.lol As you said couldn't understand the unit change, surely a trailer swap would have been enough, unless someone was moaning you had there truck!!.The area of Dewsbury you were in is well known locally for it lack of safety care.I think you did very well considering the area you had to work in,well done mate.Still no trousers I see.lol.Stay safe & keep on truckin'.
Your right about that area of Dewsbury, I believe its Ravensthorpe, from what I see, Live not far away, proper dodgy area, you won't see me down there after dark lol once upon a time it was good for a pub crawl on that main road, their was a pub every 200 yrds back in the day.
NO sir, completely wrong. If a computer took control of you, car's mot. In aviation, (flying) yeah there is an auto pilot.but a real person keeps an eye. no you should not automate checks. Sure as my wife's merc car pings an alarm when air/psi is low etal no a real person is in COMAND.
When i arrive in UK on the road to London the first interest thing i saw its Trucks smooth and clean like new, good luck Jay for your channel and your job 👍
I go to the same place were picked the mattress up from well a unit near it and your right about it being tight Jay and a shit hole how Ive never had a flat tyre in there is amazing
Another fantastic video. That was definitely some freaking skilled driving going though that narrow road to make the collection and coming out again, very impressive. Enjoyed the walk through of the daily checks to start your morning off. What was that little device on the trailer chassis at the back end when you flipped the cover up? It looked like some kind of thermostat monitor (Not that it would of been haha) :P
The traffic has been an absolute joy over the last 6 weeks, I did have a run in on Tuesday with a traffic jam on the M6 at Stafford though, I wanted a pic as a remember ace as they are a thing of the past at the moment. Defo made life easier fo me and my B&M colleagues!
I retired five years ago after 40 odd years of trucking. when crash gearboxes and British Trucks where common place. rope and sheet gave way to the tilt. 32 ton moved to 38 soon 44 ton came about. log books was a drivers friend. the then dreaded spy in the cab the taco-disc arrived. T1, T2,s Avis de passages also trailer carnets for international working. Paper maps from local filling stations was the equivalent to GPS. Then satellite data. tacho cards and no clutch pedal (two pedalers ) Was where the Drivers freedom was clipped. Saying that I recognise the FH Volvo today. I managed 200+ different trucks through 15 countries n millions of kilometres. Volvo and Scania are the very tops. The Magnum is the best from the French. the Daf (AEC) is a nice Dutch wagon. The Fiat and Iveco both have a good heritage. ERF & Foden were also unbeatable wagons but cold because of fibreglass cabs. MAN n MERCS ( Megga-Space) were always boring utilitarian (Govers Wagons) Reliable but mmm There was Always something missing. Seeing the FH in this vid confirms it,s still comfy today but the mirrors look improved. Alan in Dover = Laser - Eurotraction - Roland Barton - Geoff Hart - JHT - Active TSP to finish with. Keep On Trucking Boys !!!!
Hi jay I’m new to your channel, my partner watches your vids all the time on the tv and I’m only commenting because I just wanted to let you know I prefer your intro that’s like this .... life is a highway 🛣 lol have a lovely evening 😀👍
What's the thing at 8:40 used for? also thanks for including your daily check and doing the trailer curtains, interesting to watch as a non truck driver! :)
hi jay been subbed for a while now, you have inspired me to get my rigid license once im 18, keep up the great vids mate. With all the virus stuff at the minute they should just give every driver a truck as they must have enough to try stop the spread of the virus through the company if another driver or you gets it
I thought of that lady from your Class 2 days, running out in her dressing gown shouting "You hit my car. Look at the damage you did. Give me your details, and the company's phone number". Jay calmly reply's, "I did not hit your car", and "The company's name and phone number are on the side of the truck". Quick review of the footage when first driving towards her car shows damaged lower passenger side rear panel. Visible damage before you was even near her car, and if i am not mistaken the damage was too low and under the curve of the panel on her car for the truck to have made. (Failed insurance scam).
Jaz your own yard looks a mess to get around best of time, then go to that yard,, taught you were in Beirut there for a minute,, tigth spot,, Stay safe,, 👍👋☘
If he has his class 1 he may have served in the RLC Royal Logistics Corps as they also served in Iraq when I was out there with the Queens Royal Hussars.
Love your videos but Omg there’s far to much background noise ! Beeping, clicking, buzzing etc when wearing earbuds can be very high pitched 👍 Thanks Jay.
That your own sat nav? Or supplied by company? Financially can’t afford a good one yet. So it either google or car sat nav. Mark one eye ball. Will get one eventually along with the rest of the important stuff but until I dig myself out of the home I’m in I’m buggered!
Good for you sticking to your guns, I once picked a load up and started throwing the ratchest straps over, bloke comes back out and says, no good that driver, can you use your internals your going to damage the stock....me ''how much does a pallet weigh?'' he says about 800 kg i say ''no i cant use the internals if they are that heavy it has to be ratchets'' he wasnt happy but didnt have a choice. The irony is that at that collection you have to sign that you have secured your load.
Hi ya Jay 👋 what the hell was that place you dropped at 😲 obviously I know what it was but wow what a mess. Also could you explain what that light up display was near the end of the underneath of the trailor saw it when you were doing your daily check
Hi Trucker Jay, A good check round before starting your day, Nice. Im an x trucker, started driving trucks in the 1970,s. Im also an x instructor, you,d make a good instructor in time. To the point, Don't start your engine and then leave your cab on the queens hi-way, Its an offence, Im not getting at you chap, but the police will. I feel sorry for you boys & girls that show everything you do, good or bad, Didn't have cameras in my days.LAUGH We winged when from logbook they wanted us to use a spy in the cab (Tacho).
Good videos as always Jay keep safe from future truck driver and also if you don't mind telling me what is the difference between a HGV driver and a LGV driver thanks
I definately think you were way closer to the Mercades pulling into the illegal yard, than you ever were to that lady in question's car in your class-2 days.
I thought of that lady running out in her dressing gown straight away, shouting "You hit my car. Look at the damage you did. Give me your details, and the company's phone number". Jay calmly reply's, "I didn't hit your car", and "The company's name and phone number are on the side of the truck". Quick review of the footage when first driving towards her car shows damaged lower passenger side rear panel. Visible damage before Jay was even near her car, and if i am not mistaken the damage was too low on her car for the truck to have made. (Failed insurance scam).
Yes he leaves the back door open when the trailer is empty if he parks up in a public area over night so that if someone comes snooping they don't need to slice a hole in the curtain to see whats inside. I think he mentioned it in a video the other week which is when i learned about why he does it
Good evening Jay what was the company called you went to in dewsbury as I live on Huddersfield Road by the second shell garage which you probably went past
jay i did fridges for years one place always wanted to double up the load by putting pallets on top off each other mad stuff needles to say i dnt do many loads out off tat place
Hi Jay, I couldn't see the reason for changing units but I would have thought your company would adhere to the covid virus and Keep one truck one driver and not Keep changing.
A Mars a day, helps you work rest and play. Well that's what the add said. Wow that was a rabbit warren not an industrial area, if that had been a construction site H&S would have shut it all down. So much tat around the place and the car parking was terrible. It would have helped if some one had assisted you, strange how some places won't allow reversing without a banksman and others are like that place. Would not fancy hot bedding a truck, especially with guys not showering every day. I'd also need a Portaloo fixed under the passengers seat somehow, fitted with a double airtight lid. On a truck swap all the safety checks need to be done again to satisfy the driver, so it the reason can't be time. Is it the camera making the trailers at the yard appear to be packed in rows at odd angles, IE: Not at right angles. Seams that yards are chosen on what's available not what's needed for efficient trailer/truck parking. Your a better man than me or just crazier for sticking that job, thanks for posting and stay safe. PS: A loose fuel cap in a layby would mean an empty tank near Gloucester.
Could say that about everything. When you go supermarket are you wiping every bit of packaging down you pick up?.... 200 people in a cue waiting to go in Sainsburys etc. This is only 1 driver in a van, as above just wipe it down.
Karl 3266 just clean it down? A cab would need full deep clean from a professional cleaning company for no risk of Carona virus. Plus who wants to sleep in a bed some smelly bastard has been sleeping in all week? I wouldn’t & I don’t. No one else drives my wagon except me!
Great video and the walk round explanation. That place with all the rubbish was appalling, clearly had been allowed to accumulate for years. I bet the rats are alive and well and thriving. You stick by the rules, your neck and your job and career that matters.
Keep this content coming and thanks for making it during this rough time, and gotta say maxi must a bad company in some aspects shit trailers, not having your own unit is bad enough even more so with this virus around it shouldn't be happening but once again thanks jay for the content keep making it and we will keep watching it :)
Another good video thanks Jay. Probably a stupid question but the tractor unit wheels...does the second set ground simply with an increase in trailer weight or does the driver have to operate them somehow? If it is weight what load brings them into play please? Thanks, stay safe.
People where you collect from think your there personal driver so they think what they say and do is right, fair does for standing your ground and covering your arse that place looked well dodgey though I think a lot of bodies may have been disposed of around there lol😂😂 keep the videos coming mate be safe 😁😁👍
Thats ridiculous that they sent an artic down that tight ass industrial place looks like a nuke has been set of there and the fact they asked u to risk ur licence just on the basis of delivering a few extra mattresses that's just NOPE good job jay keep safe bud #RoadLegends
So why don't you ask for your own unit all the time I drove in uk I always had my own unit not that I complained but I always took care of any vehicle I had and was not going clean another drivers mess even when I was agency and then spare driver I took care of the vehicle sometimes they got their truck back cleaner then when I got it and in this covid 19 you should have your own unit
I'm a van driver and we got a fleet of vehicles. Usually we would be assigned different vans each day. But now with COVID they do their best to give us the same vehicle all week!! x
Not only that from what I see is that you are really dedicated to giving 100% in what you do I think you deserve your own unit
At 7:45 - bugger.
Having to change vehicle in these times with the corona virus doesn't seem entirely wise.
And stay safe out there!
Excellent. Video as usual just bought your truck on euro sim 2 with a sound mod and it sounds exactly like yours
Another good blog Jay! You were dead right about the load. It's your licence at the end of the day. It looked a right kip of a place to be fair, I'm surprised they didn't ask you to throw some on the roof LOL
Great content jay, but like I said before,I would not do nights out if I was in a different truck each time. Stay safe.

couldn't see it too clearly but it looks like a load scale. It shows the load on the axles
PaulL
it's a digital trailer load scale

Well I'm not surprised of Maxi. They can't even arrange a shipping ref in and out of Ireland.

Good point
Just clean it down before and after use simple

Sleeping in lay-by , no toilets or washing facilities , nice.
The life of a modern trucker! No facilities for them. Who would like to live and work in a 8x6 box
Its a shitter having to de kit every time , the only time we changed units was mot or repair
Missing the your videos

it would cost you a lot more in fines .
Have a word with trucker Jenko he has a warmer to warm his food up it warms up why are you driving he put it on when he knows where he’s going to stop
