Ginny is a good reviewer. Is willing to call it how she sees it and not try to be neutral. Mat and Reb never end negatively. At worst, they'll say it's made for certain people, and if that's you, you'll like it.

I rather like this review and you can tell she's a mum! I think she's perfect for Carbuyer.
I bought the facelift 2019 AMG line model and had it over a year. I have to say, it looks great and drives really well. Having Apple car play really expands the sat nav and communications options. You can choose between different ride functions with the dynamic select button. The seats are super comfy and the climate control works great. With the new GLA model out, you could get one of these at a knocked down price. It’s a great car and I love it.

Has anyone else noticed how they don't always end on a high note in the reviews, like they used to. I guess they're now big enough and well-known enough to not have to worry that manufacturers may not let them test their cars.

GLA is a crossover kids
I just want to say my opinion about this car, i own it for about 5 months now and i regret buying it. I have the same engine (as in the review) and i find it pretty lowed and lazy. The gearbox in the car is terrible in comparison with the BMW automatic transmission, for example when i'm in the city stuck in a jam and moving by bits it takes the gearbox about 1-2 seconds to switch from neutral to the first gear and after some time it gets really annoying (also because of the fact that it constantly goes to neutral when stationary). I know this may be due to the economical reason of saving gas but still the average consumption on my car is 6.8l / 100 km and i have about 9 000 km on it and i think that thats a lot for such a small car. And lastly what i don't like about the car is the suspension i have the same 19 inch alloy wheels and the ride is really stiff and uncomfortable (it may be because of the 19 inch). But i still don't like that there is no option of damper control i cant change the stiffness of the suspension at all, so all you have to deal with is the factory set suspension.

According to EuroNCAP ratings, this was the safest car of 2014. Keep in mind that EuroNCAP does not test a lot of cars, but it's still an impressive achievement.

Roast Lord I don't care, you obviously understand my point. Just because the car company says it is a certain class does not make it so. It has to have certain characteristics to make it that class. In order for it to be a suv it has to be on a truck chassis . This is on a sedan chassis. It's low to the ground compared to all other subs and even suv compacts its a little higher than the other sedans but 5 inches shorter than the Buick Encore which is a compact suv. It has very little cargo space and its not very high off the ground. Have you ever seen or been in one? I would classify it as wagon if anything -_-

If I'm not wrong there is optional off-road packet with increased ground clearance - so it depends from your wish - if you want it as small SUV or if you want it as Hach...

Yeah, its a hatchback. Great looking one, though. Not that the A-class wasn't a fine design too, but this one has a little bit more space and just looks great.

This is one good-looking car. In terms of styling, the GLA seems to be on a par with its brother and sister, the A Class and the CLA... while being much, much more practical, and nicer to live with on a day-to-day basis. The boot is bigger, access to the back seats is easier, rear headroom isn't in short supply (very much unlike in the CLA)... Like Ginny, I, too, know which one I'd rather have.

How about a in between like the x6 ,it is bigger then a hatch but not bigger then a compact suv and not much smaller it is a mini compact hatch suv or mchsuv

Actually the builder said its a crossover not an SUV. Crossover means it is based on small car, a hatchback with a higher ride ... SUVs come from the american big trucks that are used for transporting different goods ... you know the big flat bed trucks ...
In the states Mercedes is pitching this as a crossover or CUV...it's one of those.

This car is a crossover if anything, not a full sun by any means. It's so small inside and cramped feeling. It's really beautiful car though but it's mostly for looks not much utility. I'm thinking of buying one. But I agree with what she says it's more of a hatchback than a suv, hence the crossover. Mercedes is calling it a suv so they can charge more for it I feel. I sat in one and there's a lot of plastic and the seats aren't leather they are man made material. not worth almost $40k imo. I can get more options for far less in a Buick Encore or Kia Sportage for 3/4 the price. At this point you are paying all this money for the brand not the quality or technology. Luxury cars need to step up their game cuz the lower end cars are catching up.

After searching for weeks, I finally found it, placed the order and it came right to my door, I looked at it , drove it and did a few checks, and I was sold…. Fast Forward 4 weeks. My brakes jamming, had to pay £400 to replace the stuff under…. OhI forgot , the driver side under panel flew off the highway an I have started noticing chips on the window… wowow, what did I buy...

Crossovers can either be a great success like the Range Rover Evoque or be an utter failure just like this car.
It will sell like crazy and you know that...and this dictates how good a normal car is

That is the selling point for any car company doing this.. "hey look we took two platforms and made it into one and it isn't very good!" Especially when they charge extra for it...

Most elders have a problem lifting their feet high so I don't see your point there, as for the lifestyle part.. How many buys a car for it to be a lifestyle? I could agree if it's an old collectible car or a car you see as a future classic this is just a pretty normal mercedes hatch on stilts. 90% of buyers buy a car because of how it works in the real world, this is not one of the cars you buy as a dream car that will tingle your senses. You want a big boot? You buy an estate. You want handling? You buy a sports car. You want a raised driving position? You buy a proper SUV with the practicality that comes with it... In my oppinion, you are of course entitled to yours. :)
G0ML3 Mercedes defines the target group as younger people and the generation 50+. If these crossovers were that unappealing why is almost every car manufacturer making them? Renault Captur, Citroen Cactus, BMW X1, Audi Q3, Porsche Macan, Mercedes GLA... ... ... The Porsche Macan is sold out for the next two years. The crossover segment is the fastest growing segment in the auto industry
Younger people and 50+, wouldn't that include every age group above and under 50? lol, I don't really really care what Mercedes say to market it i'm judging the car as is. A family member owns an Audi Q3, the direct competition to this car which is well built (like any Audi) but has the interior space and boot capacity smaller than an Audi A4 estate. My head is almost rubbing against the roof and you'd think that added height meant you could see more but the lowered roof and large pillars makes it very hard to see out of, you get my point? So I still stick by my initial view that most crossovers are fairly pointless. They also offer worse fuel consumption than a lighter estate from the same manufacturers using pretty much the same engines across all of their models. Manufacturers will say anything to increase peoples appetite so they can sell more cars, just like some buy new smartphones every time a new model comes out with a bigger screen or improved software. Latest is curved TV's that are no better than existing flat screens, but some still buy into the concept and are willing to pay more without getting much in return for that money.
Please bring Rebecca back.

SUV =/= minivan. SUVs can get away with being less child oriented and practical. This is a stylish car, not some minibus designed for soccer moms therefore I don't think one should mark it down just because a 10 year old can't see out the windows properly.

Hmm, guess it is a hatch, all of these weird niche models are about 3/4 miss and 1/4 hit, this comes into the former for me. Buy an A Class instead.
