Greetings I'm 67 years old I have been drinking espresso coffee black no sugar or cream for over 50 years and I feel healthy, with no disease thank God! Be safe peace👍
I am 64 and have a cup in the morning maybe 5 days per week, and am healthy. Also, no creme, no sugar. I am thin. I see big old fatties getting the works each day and it is like they are addicted to unhealthy fats and sugar. Some of them can barely fit through the door.
Very good video. I was over 4 on psa 15 years ago. I had one more psa a year later around 5 on psa. This made the doctor nervous so I told him, just don't give me a psa test ever again if it would make him feel better. He stopped and not having to listen to his biopsy protocol suggestion, made both of us feel better, especially me. No biopsy ever, and I am in my late 70's. I drink strong hi test coffee with a pinch of milk, no sugar ….3 cups a day, sometimes more. I love coffee . I repented of my sins and Jesus is my Savior so when He wants me, I am ready. Dr. Hashmi, My name is Kenny. I am in my mid sixties right now very careful of anything i eat. I go to sleep thinking of waking up to have coffee. I love the calming experience of sitting and sipping that cup, its aroma, its calming nature, for me. If i am sleepy, i can drink a cup and fall asleep five seconds later, no problems. I have never thought of the health benefits of coffee other than its nature of allowing me that moment to reflect on the beauty of our mortal existence, that someone or something somewhere gave us this moment. Thank you for this dialog that we may still have quite a bit to understand that things that exist in nature around us may be the salvation to a harmonious existence to a healthier life.
I have. been a long term coffee drinker from my college years up until the present. I normally drink 2 -3 full sized mugs of coffee every day. I have two friends who are non coffee drinkers. Both have one thing in common. Both are experiencing prostate cancer. The oldest is 73 and the youngest is 68. I am 72 with no prostate cancer and a low PSA level
i love coffee. Drink more than 10 cup every day since 50 years ago. So far no health problem, not on any medication or food supplement. May be Malaysian coffee is the best in the world
Why do you not believe it? In Sweden lots of people drink more than that without any issues. We also have really high quality coffee compared to for example the US. US coffee would be difficult to drink that much but that's is more a taste issue. Caffeine really does have health benefits, but anybody who consumes a high sugar diet will have autoimmune issues...which can eventually lead to cancer. For me, the breakthrough was learning about living a Ketogenic lifestyle with intermittent fasting. The human body is capable of eating/consuming itself through autophagy and i would suggest that everyone becomes aware of this.
Yes indeed, the fasting makes us go into autophagy, and those cells that turn into cancer get used up by the body, I think that was your point also via the consuming itself quote. When I got off of all caffeine my frequency of urination reduced (72 years old). This in turn significantly helped me to sleep longer which improved quality of life. I avoid caffeine from any source: coffee, tea, chocolate, and medications. Will be this way for a very long time. It is not worth losing quality of sleep to enjoy the wonders of caffeine.

sadly due to adrenal issues, I had to stop caffeine consumption, now drink only decaf, but found it has an amazing benefit to relaxation and a mid day nap, which I do to keep blood pressure down. I'd say coffee is good if you don't have issues with the hypothalmus and maintenance of a normal adrenal system.
This is the mostly overlooked impact of coffee I believe.. Coffee is great for this, for that yet never talk the side effects on hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.

My husband died 4 years ago prostate cancer. He never drank coffee ever. He had tea instead. It spread down his bones in leg. His mothers uncle died same way. I don't drink strong coffees.
Several years ago I started eating a three-egg omelette every morning. I had a PSA test about 6-8weeks later and it was our-of-range. I believe in cause and effect so I eliminated the omelette from my diet and tested again in a few months. It was back to normal. I have been drinking coffee since I was a teenager. I used to drink a pot a day but now drink about three cups of coffee per day. I am scheduled for a PSA soon and will be interested in the results.
I've got those blessed genes says my DNA test. Thanks for telling those good news. Both my dad and grandfather had prostrate cancer. I go through screening very often then. Thanks again!
Very informative video! Thank you. Drinking several cups of coffee per day means drinking several cups of WATER per day. It's been shown that drinking more water helps with prostate health and also helps improve response to prostate cancer treatment. So, I'm curious how this was factored into the study?
The taste, great. The buzz, the mental clarity, the health benefits, all great. Liquid anxiety, not so great. Like all good drugs, every up has a down. Anxious, neurotic, paranoid, quick tempered - in a world gone to hell in a handbasket rife with temper tantrums and depression, I'll opt for jovial and serene with prostate cancer. Damn shame because I really like coffee.
I have been diagnosed in 2016, drink more than 3 cups but less than 6. So far I believe it does benefit since doing well with no change of cancer. Also believe your diet plays a role
Coffee is another method of smoking! Coffee is roasted at ~450F and pipe tobacco smolders at ~450F. Creosols and other nasty stuff ends up in the coffee, which you can visually see by adding albumin (e.g. an egg white), stirring for a while, heating to congeal it, and filtering out the congealed albumin, which will have turned a very dark brown. Purified coffee with the nasty stuff removed has a smoother taste, and doesn't promote hair loss. It would be REALLY interesting to learn whether purified coffee works better or worse for prostate cancer - i.e. whether its benefits are because of the nasty stuff, or in spite of the nasty stuff.
Another excellent review and discussion, Sean. Regarding coffee, I wonder if there is any information on its effects on renal cysts, renal papillary necrosis and eGFRs and what your thoughts might be regarding these relationships?
I have been having prostate issues [Prostatitis] for over 30 yrs, some coffee types make it much worse, if I go off coffee for a week the symptoms are mostly gone, if I take a non coffee caffeine supplement I don't get the Prostatitis symptoms, I think it's coffee itself not the caffeine that causes prostate issues. The prostate is super sensitive and very prone to develop allergies to certain foods, herbs, spices etc. The Prostatitis I have, originally started with a dairy/nut allergy, it got really bad and antibiotics didn't help much, I was scheduled for exploratory surgery to see what was happening to my prostate, I was eating a heavy amount of cheese and other dairy, I noticed the more I consumed the worse the Prostatitis got, so I totally cut dairy and noticed a big improvement, it took about a year to mostly recover, nuts were another bad one. Chronic Prostatitis can lead to cancer and I believe that most prostate issues [Prostatitis, enlargement, etc] are from some kind of allergic reaction, if certain foods, drinks give your prostate a flutter or a strange sensation, the odds are that your prostate is having a problem with what you ate/drank. Anyhow i hope this helps someone who is not having much luck with the medical community with a chronic prostate issue.
I am 75 years old and have been a heavy coffee drinker all my adult life, typically more than 4 or 5 cups a day and my prostate is perfect and I have never had a problem!
I don’t take breakfast for most of the time except a cup of black coffee (without creamer or sugar). I am 74 and has no cholesterol, heart, diabetes trouble. Occasionally I would have another cup in the afternoon. So far so good!
I thought I've been here at this video before. But once I watched it, I think likely not. In any case, I like the message; it's particularly relevant. Thanks Dr Hashmi.
It would be useful to know if there is a relationship between prostate enlargement and caffeine. Because there lots more people with a enlarged prostate than those with prostate cancer. Thank you 👍
Everyone I know (3) who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer never drank coffee. I drink 1 to 2 cups a day, but only in the morning. I do have heart troubles ,3 heart attaches guessing not caused by coffee.
Fuck me, that's me. Never drink coffee. but, i live a lifestyle that's healthier than >90% of the population. hopefully that mitigates any possible risk.
On a side note Dr., I'm 51...been in the gym since I was 12....was 2x Armed Forces Bodybuilding Champion and my workouts have really been terrible over the last 5 years and I just started to have prostate issue on top of that. Because I had no answers for either, I just contributed the terrible workouts to getting older, although it was hard to believe I was feeling this old at only 51. I decided to limit my coffee intake to 4 ounces in the a.m. only and no more. Up my water intake as well. My workouts almost immediately improved. I think coffee really has a negative affect on the body as a whole. If you have never drank coffee....it will wire you up the first couple go arounds. It stimulates something in the body. Pretty soon...coffee really doesn't do that anymore...so something must be over stimulated. Over stimulating anything in the body is probably not ideal...especially when it is literally a drug doing it. Caffeine is a drug. Just thought I would share that story. If some of your viewers have been drinking high amounts of coffee for years but feel pretty crappy a lot...perhaps try and really reduce the intake and up the water level. Water is natural to the body and needed....coffee is not.
Every body is different. I can drink coffee or go without it, no difference in how I feel. Actually, I can drink coffee at 10 o'clock at night and be sound asleep by 10:15. At one time in my life, I couldn't have caffeine past 2 in the afternoon otherwise I wouldn't sleep the whole night. I'm 71 and drink about 3, sometimes 4 cups per day.
The findings from the scientific study did not claim universal benefit of consuming coffee, to make a sweeping generalisation on the basis of an individual experience.
Am now 74yrs old, normally having age related defficiencies and a coffee drinker. As observed bodybuiders seldom drink coffee, instead they take a lot of body- nourishing drink, yet I found it disturbing that so many of them have died before reaching my age,am I just lucky,or is it because of the benefits of my normal activities and the daily 2 cups of coffee?
The country that have more coffe consume also have the higher rate of cancer and this is Finlandia. And the two country than have lower consume of coffe also have the less rate of cancer and this are Nicaragua and El Salvador. Casuality ?
Of course the amount of caffeine in coffee can vary quite a bit depending on the type of coffee bean & how it is roasted, how big the cup size & how it is brewed.

I disagree. i am 82 yo (yup...still mobile, and UGLY). i have been drinking Coffee since about 6 OR 7 years old. While in the Navy, drinking 4 cups or more of 40-weight was "normal", and even today i drink 2 cups each morning... sometimes 3. no problems.
It's not weather you agree or disagree. If you understand co relation and statistics then he is talking in generalities and you are an acception. You're lucky
My doctor was not at all worried that I have a few cups of coffee a day... he said as long as I didn't add cream and sugar, studies said it was good for you.
I believe it's less about metabolism than it is about chemicals in coffee bulding up in cells in men who sit too much. SItting has been linked as a provable risk factor - truck drivers and computer programmers have high sitting rates, and both also drink a lot of coffee. All coffee beans have pesticides in them due to customs import laws.
I have prostate cancer low on the gleason score 6. I only drink single origin coffee from a local coffee roasters. It's great coffee that has a three month best before date from roast date. Unlike supermarket coffee which generally have a year or more best by date and they don't say when the coffee was roasted.
All the pleasant things of life are constantly demeaned-alcohol, cigarettes, cakes, ..How wonderful to hear that there is a vice which is actually healthy!!
Interesting. I have advanced prostate cancer and was told to give up coffee as the caffeine irritates the bladder. I've since ignored that advice and I'm doing ok. I have some strong coffee for breakfast and rarely have a second cup later.
So . . . if the people who metabolize caffeine quickly have improved cancer recovery vs. people who metabolize it slowly, what I'm hearing is you're better off drinking decaf coffee. You still get the benefits of coffee without the negative effects of caffeine. Then it doesn't matter how quickly or slowly I metabolize caffeine.
I'm not certain that's true, it wasn't presented as a cause and effect, just that people who have that genome type may fare better with prostate cancer. But what the heck, buy some nice decaf and enjoy!
When my father wanted to have a really good nights sleep, he would have a cup of coffee. When I drink coffee, I have no problem sleeping throughout the night.
This proves that you can prove anything with statistics! I'm 70, I had prostate cancer cut out successfully 5 years ago and haven't drunk coffee in my entire life. Could statistics link prostate cancer (in men) to ageing?
Looking from all angles, coffee is beneficial to our health! Dr. Hashmi, could you, please, specify the proportion of ground coffee to amount of water to get to, for example, 2 cups of coffee? I never use coffee maker, rather preparing it on stovetop by adding coffee to boiling water and steeping. How many TBSP per 500 ml? Thank you so much always!!! ♥️🙏🙏🙏👍👍🤗
Make sure it's fresh ground coffee beans and not some brand of instant granules which will have had any goodness, antioxidants etc... processed out of it.
What is also interesting is Coffee regulate uric acid and eventually level Alkaline & uric acid in your bloodstream. High level of Uric acid causes inflammation in your joints= to arthritis...
Did they cross check if the gene for fast metabolism helps with prostrate cancer survival or the coffee consumption. ( people with the slow metabolism will tend to drink less coffee)

Please keep us updated, I started to have prostate issues since this September
@@nykko73 I most likely will not have another test until April.
Are you saying eggs made it worse?
@@jasonherriott Yes. But this is just my experience. I will not have another test until April and hope it is still normal.
Yay! Another reason to drink coffee daily!👍👍✌️🙂
Good point! Wonder who funded the study?
Great question. Mechanistically, coffee has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits that are thought to be the reason for its favorable outcomes.
Except, caffeine dehydrates you. I’ll drink alkaline water before and after my coffee normally.
@@Cyberbronco , Coffee sellers ??
@@TruthPrevails89coffee is also acidic unless you find a low acid brand
Handy hint: Add a few granules of salt to your black coffee (no sugar) to take away the bitterness.
A dash of Cinnamon will help. Less than a gram is enough for a large cup
Thank goodness, as I don't drink alcohol or tea and only drink coffee and water, I'm glad this one treat is OK.
I too cannot have coffee after noon or I cannot fall asleep at my regular bed time. Now I know why. Thanks.
Another excellent review and discussion, Sean. Regarding coffee, I wonder if there is any information on its effects on renal cysts, renal papillary necrosis and eGFRs and what your thoughts might be regarding these relationships?
Great question. The answer for renal cysts in Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease is coffee is protective.
Thanks same with me
Thanks, I have the same problem with dairy products and nuts. For spices, I don't know if turmeric is good?
I'm finding the same thing. Thanks, dairy and coffee are my 2 faves. I have to experiments, see which one it is.
I am 75 years old and have been a heavy coffee drinker all my adult life, typically more than 4 or 5 cups a day and my prostate is perfect and I have never had a problem!
It really is a matchless presntation , thank you so much dear.
I don’t take breakfast for most of the time except a cup of black coffee (without creamer or sugar). I am 74 and has no cholesterol, heart, diabetes trouble. Occasionally I would have another cup in the afternoon. So far so good!
Thanks for this really balanced and useful interpretation of this meta-study. Much appreciated.
I thought I've been here at this video before.
But once I watched it, I think likely not.
In any case, I like the message; it's particularly relevant. Thanks Dr Hashmi.
Hi Doc, do you mean Coffee without Cream ? Black Coffee or it does not matter and one can add cream or milk, would you please clarify?
Dairy is inflammatory and cancer promoting, so yeah black is ideal
I'm a bit worried about the acid that is found in most coffee. This video does help to relieve my concern somewhat. Thanks...
It would be useful to know if there is a relationship between prostate enlargement and caffeine. Because there lots more people with a enlarged prostate than those with prostate cancer. Thank you 👍
Green tea (3.5%) caffeine is the 3rd best food for prostate health (off course after tomato and broccoli). Coffee is 5% caffeine.
🥱😴
Am now 74yrs old, normally having age related defficiencies and a coffee drinker. As observed bodybuiders seldom drink coffee, instead they take a lot of body- nourishing drink, yet I found it disturbing that so many of them have died before reaching my age,am I just lucky,or is it because of the benefits of my normal activities and the daily 2 cups of coffee?
@@percivalendozo6142 Bodybuilders are heavy drug users…a hard fact. No body builder gets their body from bacon and eggs…..Fact.
Thank you, doctor I’m still working at 78 and I need the coffee couple cups a day
That's amazing! Good for you for setting the example for all of us!
I am a 3 to 4 cups a day guy. Had my prostate removed Jan 2nd 2020.
The country that have more coffe consume also have the higher rate of cancer and this is Finlandia. And the two country than have lower consume of coffe also have the less rate of cancer and this are Nicaragua and El Salvador. Casuality ?
I am a BEAST without coffee,,, starting My without coffee is simply unacceptable ,,, gotta have it 👍
Is decaffeinated coffee better for your health than normal coffee?
Green Tea...REAL Green Tea...Leaves! brewed with distilled or Spring water...
You should specify what you mean by cups. Are these typical 6-8 oz cups when referring to cups or literal cups?
Of course the amount of caffeine in coffee can vary quite a bit depending on the type of coffee bean & how it is roasted, how big the cup size & how it is brewed.
He did mention decaffeinated coffee works just as well. It must have to do with the other components of coffee.
Another guru pontificating on how to extend one’s wretched time on this earth..and avoid coffee to have trouble free existence for the short time here. Cheers.

I disagree. i am 82 yo (yup...still mobile, and UGLY). i have been drinking Coffee since about 6 OR 7 years old.
Uh oh...I love half and half in my coffee. But I only drink half a cup a day
Fabulous info!!
Thanks.

Hello guys ,I am a coffee lover..i choose the right thing..thank you the info.
I have prostate cancer low on the gleason score 6. I only drink single origin coffee from a local coffee roasters. It's great coffee that has a three month best before date from roast date. Unlike supermarket coffee which generally have a year or more best by date and they don't say when the coffee was roasted.
Tomatoes, Broccoli, Tuermic I believe can help Lower PSA from doubling
Great, clear overview of the issue.
Interesting, I can't have coffee because my heart doesn't like it, sometimes I have a decaf and I love it, so does my prostate!

Low testosterone levels will give you prostate cancer.
Yes, men get prostate cancer as they age. Next?

Looking from all angles, coffee is beneficial to our health! Dr. Hashmi, could you, please, specify the proportion of ground coffee to amount of water to get to, for example, 2 cups of coffee? I never use coffee maker, rather preparing it on stovetop by adding coffee to boiling water and steeping. How many TBSP per 500 ml?
Thank you so much always!!!

Roughly 1-2 tablespoons of ground coffee per 6 ounces of water
Thanks a lot. Highly edifying.
Make sure it's fresh ground coffee beans and not some brand of instant granules which will have had any goodness, antioxidants etc... processed out of it.
In addition to that make sure it’s organic because regular coffee is heavily sprayed with pesticides
Interesting. Thanks. toronto canada.
What is also interesting is
Coffee regulate uric acid and eventually level Alkaline & uric acid in your bloodstream.
High level of Uric acid causes inflammation in your joints= to arthritis...
I drink between 6 and 8 double espressos a day, usually by 2pm but sometimes in the evening.
Did they cross check if the gene for fast metabolism helps with prostrate cancer survival or the coffee consumption. ( people with the slow metabolism will tend to drink less coffee)
Thank you for all the information, ever little bit helps.

I drink a pot of coffee a day. Who knows what that equals out to because it's water with 5 scoops of actual coffee. Either way, I can drink a cup at noon and still have a 2 hour nap at 2pm.
