@@andymiller54 thanks Andy! Learning new things can be simultaneously fun and painful! 😂 After my recovery week I will keep racing on zwift once or twice a week and I'll be sure to document it 👍
@@andymiller54 I don't care much for mileage goals and things like Rapha 500. I don't hate it but it just doesn't pique my interest and would only really do it if it fit into my training plan/goals. 🤷
Excellent results, James and nice podium on race 1. The Tiny Races are tougher than you expect. And like all good Zwifters, getting in the excuses in early. 😆 Thanks for the mention, glad you like 1st person view.
@stevej_on_a_mtb gotta throw something in there to protect the ego! 😂😂 Just kidding. Thanks Steve! That first person view is definitely beneficial to me in the finale 👍. Helps the focus and positioning!
I personally like the closer forward facing view, number two on the Companion app. For these bigger and faster races, where everyone is clump together, it is sometimes better to change your avatar to using the writer highlighting which you can change in settings. You get a white ring around your avatar and can pickit out in the group much better. And try to finish past the finish line and not ease up a second or two before it as it will cost you some places in some races. These tiny races often attract heavier, riders with big sprints. It’s not comparable to the usual group of racers at the longer distances from 20 to 60 minutes. By the way, I love your grunting. Science has proven that it actually does help.
@@daletoce5118 yeah I always try to pedal thru the finish line. Sometimes I have no gas left 😅 but I still pedal as much as I can. Although, I know if my placing is decided then I won't do anything unnecessary. Haha thanks for the comments! My grunting helps me for sure. I have a background in other sports. One of them is tennis. I don't grunt loudly but I do make a sound when I am hitting the ball harder. The exhale 👍 It definitely seemed like there were 3-5 very strong sprinters in this C category haha. I know what kind of courses suit me so as I do more and more races I'm sure I'll get a better sense for how to time things and race them.
Well done the 3rd on the first race was impressive but probably killed you for the others, I love the tiny race series they are some of the hardest riding to be had. Glad I recommended them to you.

James, congratulations on a very awesome series of races. These tiny races hurt a lot, as they all are in VO to max power range. You did a much much much better job drafting in all of the races. Plus, this was proven by your low watts to kilogram Ratio in just about all of them. I rarely saw the “close the gap” comment at all. good job paying attention to where you were in relation to the group. And superb sprinting again in all of the races and for the most part-time very well. I didn’t see you come close to your 800 W sprint power in any of these races, but you were probably holding something back not knowing how hard it would be. it is my opinion that gravel bikes are not faster in race two and aero rules the day on a short race like these. And seriously, buy some aero wheels. Please. And tighten those pedals-I’ve unclipped and hit my leg so hard the bruise took weeks to go away…I’ve learned that lesson the hard way.
@@daletoce5118 haha thanks! Yeah, 800w on the trainer is hard to hit at the end of these intense races. Also, I realized I have 3sec power smoothing on and if I changed it to instantaneous power, I'd probably see a higher max number than what's on the screen too, maybe haha. Anyhow, thanks! Would be great if this trainer sprinting helps my outdoor sprint when it comes to the 2025 race season.
“One more to go…and I’m totally dead” is the Tiny Races mantra. The courses need to be studied to understand bike selection, when to sprint, etc. All were pretty solid except #3 obv Also, your HR scares me. 2nd race chilling at 190 bpm, wtf
😂 Yeah, it's interesting. If I see 190 on my HR reading I'm usually feeling confident that I'm not in the red 🤣. I think my highest avg HR for 20min happened in an outdoor race - 194bpm I think...
You're a beast, I did this yesterday as well, was happy to get 10th in one race. Not sure why the 3rd race graphic messed up during the final climb but I sprinted there too and realized there was still 300 meters of climbing.
@@4xlrner that race 3 finish was THE SLOWEST finish ever hahahaha. It couldn't end soon enough! Didn't help that I came unclipped on the steepest part of the run-in, but things happen haha. This looks like fun! How rampant is cheating in games like these? I'm not a cyclist but I would like to add some cardio to my 6day gym routine that I can do from home. This looks fun, but it also seems to be really easy to cheat in. And losing to a cheater after putting in a lot of effort must suck twice as much than it already does in other games.
@@MrQwerty2524 cheating will always be a thing. So I can't really worry about that because I can't control it. I mentioned this to someone else, but if I lose to someone who cheated, but I gave it my all and am satisfied with my own individual effort, then it's all good to me. If I win, that's great! But I'm not in it for the results. I'm in it to push myself and get some training reps in 🙂. I trust that Zwift is doing what they can to weed out cheaters. But that's their responsibility hehe
