    Hello Harry, after seeing your video (congrats by the way) I decided to purchase a connector and follow your instructions. Because it didn't work I contacted Samsung and this is what they told me: "You cannot connect a Samsung tablet to ethernet as It is not designed for this feature'. Now that blows my mind as I see you doing it! What am I doing wrong? Unlike in your vid I cannot select the ethernet option! Regards

    • @TigranAivazian
      @TigranAivazian 2 года назад

      @@DavidHarry It is greyed out because you first need to down the interface, i.e. touch the little green button to turn it OFF while the adapter (with the ethernet cable plugged in) is connected of course. Then you set you static IP, DNS etc and touch "Save" and then touch on that OFF button to make it green "ON" again.

    Now there is a super neat tip !

    • @DavidHarry
      @DavidHarry  3 года назад +1

      Alright Andre. Depending on your WiFi signal and speeds, the direct wired connection to the router can be a massive increase. It also helps with latency, which can make IP calling, FaceTime, gaming etc. all more responsive. Even if your device has 100 percent signal and is sitting right next to the router, a wired connection will still always have its benefits. Do you use an iPad, tablet or any portable devices? Cheers, Dave.

    • @WORTHITORNOT
      @WORTHITORNOT 3 года назад +2

      David Harry : Exactly, I have fiber here with 1,000 Mbps up and down when hardwired and the WiFi speeds are in the 490 Mbps up/down. Fiber was a God send as before I was 30 Mbps down and 12 Mbps up.

    • @DavidHarry
      @DavidHarry  3 года назад +1

      Yes, you would definitely see a difference with something like this adaptor. Plus it is Gigabit, so you’d hit the max speed of your router/fibre. Do you use iPads or similar?

      @@DavidHarry I have tested the Cable Matters USB 3.0 Gigabit ethernet adapter with Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 tablets (two identical ones, with the same level of firmware -- the very latest Android 10) and confirm that it DOES NOT work. Namely, the eth0 interface is initialised correctly and works for about 30-40 seconds (getting transfer speeds of 105MB/s -- five times more than I get with TeckNet and Smays adapters) and then it gets disconnected. My guess is that the driver has been tested only with very fast local storage (presumably on S7+ local storage is faster than on S4) and in situations where you can't copy data as fast as it arrives on the network the driver fails to work, i.e. instead of being throttled and sleeping, it just downs the interface. Anyway, I have returned it to Amazon for a refund and ordered a Tecknet one which is known to work (I have one of these already).

    • @DavidHarry
      @DavidHarry  3 года назад +1

      Hi Geoff. I’ll try it out but unfortunately for me it may not make that much difference. All my internet is through a 4G LTE router, basically I have a box that looks like a normal router but it uses a phone SIM card and uses mobile data to connect to the internet , not a land line or cable, basically just like data tethering on a mobile phone. The problem with this is that the latency varies wildly anyway due to it being mobile date. If I can get access to a land line or fibre connection I’ll give it go. Latency/ping won’t affect graphics or rendering speeds, they’re local to the S7. BTW, just ordered the Flydigi Apex controller, should have it Monday/Tuesday. If it works in DEX mode I’ll be doing a bunch of videos. Keep an eye on my videos, I’m gonna do a few shortish ones like this one where I show one specific thing. Next one will be a HDMI output, then one about USB and one about an audio interface. These will end up all together in one video “The ultimate Tab S7 gaming setup”, which will basically be the S7 as an Android gaming console. I’ve also just subscribed to Xbox, I think the xCloud Android service goes live this Tuesday or Wednesday, I’ll do a bunch of stuff about the S7 for cloud gaming. Cheers, Dave.
