For the first time I actually felt I was supporting and I felt the difference between doing these exercises without support and with support! Thank you for such an amazing video with crystal clear explanation and fun easy to understand and do exercises😍
I’m so glad it helped!
I really appreciate the fact that you actually apply the exercises to singing. It really makes a difference. Thank you very much for your videos. You're awesome.
Everything on you channel helps a lot Victoria! I still have a lot more to learn as does everyone and I'm still trying to get those high notes, but I feel weak when I try to do them. But I have improved, since I started learning from you and I'm definitely better than what I was before because I'm trying to copy anyone, so big thanks!
I love this . It has helped me so much in sustaining long notes . Thank you Victoria.
You're so welcome! Make sure to watch How to Hold a Note When Singing - MORE STABLE AND EXCITING LONG NOTES! ruclips.net/video/ucZ9pTyNwzY/видео.html
Love this video! It’s awesome that you get to sing along repeatedly
I used to sing alto but my teacher changed me to soprano and I've been feeling a lot of tension in my core. My teacher said it might be my exhalation and he was totally right! I hadn't realized how much air I was unnecessarily holding and taking in. Thank you so much for this video, it's helped with tension and to adapt to soprano singing!
I subscribed because you are everything I want and need in a vocal teacher. You don't waste time. you don't show off and you don't sugar coat the truth.
Wow! I was told before to grab big breaths of air while I was singing. I didn't know that I could take small or even mini breaths and that can be enough. Now I can breath while singing so much better. This is the first big improvement that I have picked up since I signed up for these lessons. Thank you Victoria!
Great! Over-breathing creates so much unnecessary tension!
This is the first video that actually makes sense about breath support for me thank you❤
Just then you got my attention I actually feel confident about myself thank you, I got it on the inhale/ exhale support for singing great job.
Dear Victoria, I feel like I have no words good enough to express my gratitude. I've been searching for answers in all the wrong places and I quitted singing many years ago but now I actually want to give it a try again and get hired in the choir where I always wanted to be. Music definitely always made me happy, no matter how upset I ever was. THANK YOU for actually helping me understand the things I struggled to understand for such a long time. You are far away from me and do all this for me while no other professor that was in front of me ever did. Thank you, I will continue to exercise everything you teach us and I will eventually get to sing where I want to. I have to. Wish you all the best! Thank you again!
Awwww, thank you so much for your sweet post! I am so happy that I can help you! 🧡
Victoria, your mention of the catch breath takes me back to when I went to learn to sing the song "Urgent" by Foreigner. There are so many catch breaths in that song it took me quite a while to get them all placed and timed right. There's a staccato punchiness to that song that made it quite challenging. Lou Gramm is a huge vocal influence.
I have been panicking over breathing/breath support/singing for ages. This fabulous video has helped me so much. A thousand thank yous.
Thank you Victoria, breathing this way is so much easier!
Thanks Victoria, I love you passion for teaching
OMG THANK YOUUUU!!! I’ve been looking for for ways to improved and you helped me so much. I didn’t realize how much multitasking I can do.
I'm so happy for you!

Excellent👍👍💝💝
Omg!! The exact thing I was looking for thanks so much mam😍😍♥♥♥just next week you will be uploading 100 full length vocal technique videos 😍😍so congratulations in advance 😍😍🥳🥳💗💗
Thank you, Nebula! 🧡
Wow. I take in too much breath when I nervously want to support. That gets me choked and nervous. This makes sense, since I have good breath without trying. Oh the battle with the nervous head!
I have lots of videos on how much air to use when singing and how to inhale correctly. See my PLAYLIST on Breathing and Breath Support: ruclips.net/p/PLaWjWxiTysDCQDneLVxvJRkJp_Omj_vbp
Godbless coach.. ive learned a lot from you..❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic! Good luck tomorrow!
Sometimes I felt she knows that I not do what she said LOL . Thank you!
Wow thankyou mam victorias❤
yay this was helpful
Tnx ma'am I learned a lot from you
thank you so much
You're very welcome!
Woooooooow!
good for asthma too
I love you!!!!!
Great video! That makes the concept of "support" a lot more understandable, thank you. BTW--is this the same thing as the concept of "inhalare la voce"?
Yes, but that is a term that I rarely use, especially not in a video because it is often misunderstood and can lead to holding and stopping the breath if taken too far.
I got your course and i must say the lessons are so clear i love doing them!!
GREAT! I’m so happy to know this! Keep it up!

Hi Victoria, ever since I found your videos, I can't stop watching them, one by one, OMG, they're the best tutorial videos for vocal training. For breathing, I have one more question - I'm like one of the ballet dancer you mentioned, have a habit of sucking in my belly. I realized it's a bad habit for singning, lots of times I can't be relaxed for inhalation. Would you suggest I change the habit of sucking in belly in order to do better breathing in singning, or do you think it's possible to breathe well during singing but still keep the habit of sucking in belly?
Hi Shirley! No, I recommend that you keep the sucking in to your ballet and allow the abs to open and release for inhalation when singing. Watch my videos to learn how much air you need. Many singers overdo it (tank up) and get tight.
@@Victoria-Victorious Thank you Victoria, that's a good assurance.
❤
Can I present an analogy and see if it fits?
A bagpipe player fills the bag with air and then squeezes it with his/her arm, creating pressure (support?) that keeps air flowing though the reed and creating a noise.
Can a singer’s ‘support’ be looked upon as being similar to the piper’s arm squeezing on the bag?
For a singer, do the abdominal muscles do the same thing - squeezing the abdominal ‘bag’ to aid the diaphragm in delivering air?
And as a result, they have a tension - a squeezing action - to them, whereas the larynx, neck, jaw should be tension free?
Blessings
Appreciate it!
❤❤❤❤❤❤🤗
I wish I would’ve been into singing while I still lived in Vacaville, Ca. I would have been in person at your classes! I’m always late! Sad😢
All of my classes are online. I have not taught an in-person group class since 2019. I teach singers from all over the world. 🙂
@@Victoria-Victorious Oh. I thought I saw an in person option. Oh well, it would still be an honor to be live in front of you kickin my butt showing me how to achieve the best! I have your exercises and I practice with you near daily! You’re awesome.
Wait I thought support was just for like sound. So if you can sing for a long time after a short breath that's basically confirmation that you're doing breath support well? Or is there a sound quality aspect as well?
Also can you tell a song where the use of breath support is like absolutely needed! Like without applying support, one can't even sing that song properly! That would really help me to know whether i am applying properly support in songs or not bcz in easy songs a lot of support is not required and thats why even without it we can sing it without straining the vocal chords
Certainly if you have a song that has long vocal lines, big jumps (large intervals), dramatic songs, belted songs, sustained high notes, long & held notes - these all require good breath support to be sung well. I recommend reviewing my video on that topic: Supporting the Voice (Breath Support) - WHY, WHEN, HOW MUCH? ruclips.net/video/b27MFq1f0VM/видео.html
@@Victoria-Victorious ok mam I'll watch that video thx😍
Hi! do u have vid about mix belting?
Yes! Healthy Belting - Exciting Belt! VICTORIA'S FORMULA! ruclips.net/video/9eH9JB3KaHY/видео.html
I can do even the catch breath for 12 beats no problem. It's trying to belt a song loudly that makes me run out of breath.
Healthy belting takes less breath, not more. See my video on belting.
Mam how to sing a song?
I really need help with breathing.. I feel tense when I sing high notes in front of an audience but at home it comes natural..
Do you have any videos for breath support for high notes that make me light headed?
If you get lightheaded, you might be over-breathing. Breath support for high notes is no different than breath support throughout your range - it depends on what you are singing and the sound you want. High notes take less air, not more air. See my playlists on Breathing & Breath Support and also on Singing High Notes.
@@Victoria-Victorious It's the last note on "Mother to a Savior and King" I pretty have the whole song perfect. I can reach the high note, I just want it to sound smoother and not make me light headed
A question! I know this varies from person to person and how much practise they do, but still can you tell me what is the average amount of time someone takes to master breath support if they practice daily?
Impossible for me to answer because I would have to see how they practice and be with them daily, LOL. Frankly, there are some singers who never master it because they don't practice. I recommend focusing on the little improvements that you can make gradually that can take you a long way.
@@Victoria-Victorious ok thank you mam 🥰
I have too much air left over after hissing, but not enough air after humming :(
Excellent. };}]~
Thank you so much!
Mam how many hours should I practise , and what should I do as a beginner singer
Shorter and more frequent practice sessions are more helpful than hours. If you could do 20-30 minutes a day, great! You can even do it twice a day. Follow my Beginner's Playlist: Beginner Singing Lessons - FOLLOW THESE VIDEOS! ruclips.net/p/PLaWjWxiTysDBD7MGUWCSdC4yhLzxVsEdW
Do we inhale through the mouth or through the nose?
Please see my recent video: How to Breathe While Singing - Nose, Mouth, or Both? ruclips.net/video/LGzWM2e3YFw/видео.html
I want to learn to sing so baddd 😭😭😭😭
Start with my Beginner Playlist!
Thans a lot. At time 12 must I get empty?
We are never completely empty. You can be near the end of your singing breath without collapsing. Collapse is what we don't want.
So detailed, thanks again Victoria
Should I inhale through my nose or through my mouth?
I have 2 videos on that! How to Breathe While Singing - Nose, Mouth, or Both? ruclips.net/video/LGzWM2e3YFw/видео.html
Each time I sing, it feels as though I'm holding my breath and then I get mild headaches afterwards, I've watched the video and tried the method plus the dog panting one but it still doesn't feel comfortable and I still get headaches , what am I doing wrong?
We do not hold our breath when we sing. That sounds like the problem. Breath support is controlled exhalation.
@@Victoria-Victorious how do I fix it....?
Exhale on a hiss, lip trill or humming. I do that in a lot of the breath support videos. Make sure you are not locking your breath. See the other videos in the breathing & breath support playlist.
@@Victoria-Victorious thank you ma'am, I'll be sure to watch the videos

Breath stops
If your breath stops, I recommend doing exercises like hissing or lip trills (or the alternatives). I have lots of info in my playlist on Breathing & Breath Support.
