Jo aapne beetroot dish bataya hai usko poriyal bolte hain avyal nahi. Avayal is different than poriyal . Basically any subzi is called palya in kannada , toran in malyalam and poriyal in tamil. I am so happy that you make efforts to learn the local cuisines. With this approach you will akso become expert in south indian dishes as you are in other dishes .

Wow, this is wonderful. Seeing everything set on the banana leaf reminded of weddings in my Country when I was a child. Now, they use disposable plates, not the same. I have beetroot in the fridge and I am going to try make it the way you did. Thanks for the recepe for beetroot, I only know how to make salad with it. It will be great to try it in a different way. In Mauritius, pumpkin is also called konhra in Bhojpuri and in creole and french we call it giraumon. I can only get the pumpkin you were cooking in Indian or Carrebean grocery shops here in England. I tend to use butternut squash as an alternative or during Halloween season then all the different varieties of pumpkin sold in n the supermarkets. You need to make a recepe and cooking book.
