"I wonder if that's what we're supposed to shut the gate for". RTFM Tim!!! ;) With the speed that big stuff is shooting forward I'd worry about mechanical things under the tractor getting hit and broken. That elm will look really nice standing out on its own.
Hi Tim. I’m fairly new to your channel, and really enjoy your content. I wanted to mention that when you adjust a slip clutch, you need to return it to the factory setting after it cools down. The coefficient of friction of the lining material decreases when it gets hot necessitating the adjustment in spring force to compensate. Once the friction linings cool off they return to their natural coefficient of friction so you need to adjust the spring force back to avoid disabling the slip clutch.
Tim I must say again I am very sorry for your loss. It seenms you had a close relationship with your father. My family was very combative, one reason did not marry. Thankfully your father passed on an ability to have family. I do not discount Christi's part in this either. My mother's cat just died Sunday. She was the last living tie to my mother. You and Christi together warm my heart and heal my soul. Christi is strikingly brave behind the camera, or when she tackles new equipment. Her camera work precludes seeing much of a stellar member of your team. God bless you all.
Great video! I want a mulcher so bad for my 5075E I think you guys should try a hydraulic top link and shorten the top when you back into brush and extend it when you go forward I think that would help a lot of the brush from swinging under the tractor😀 awesome machine!!!!!
Tim, you've probably talked more people into buying tractors than any given number the salemen at the dealerships. You mentioned a few videos back about a shortage of compact and subcompact tractors. The local dealership (Monticello) had 20+ tractors 2 years ago when i bought mine. Drove there to get a part 2 days ago and there 7. (1) 102xR, (1) 3039R w/cab, (3) 40xxR 2 w/cab and 1 w/o, (2) 50xxR w/cabs. Few implements and NO USED TRACTORS ON THE LOT! Thought about trading my 3E for a 3R, can't quite get the checkbook out of my pocket. Please keep the vidoes coming. You're one of the very few wholesome and educational things to watch with the grandson.
I would use your approach Tim as well. Speaking from experience while backing over brush and small trees with a Woodmaxx 72H flail mower with hammer ( duck foot shaped) knives it does a wonderful job. But only go so far then pull forwards and take down to ground level. I had a small tree about 1 inch go thru the slotted holes on the skid plate ripped it down and broke a fuel line.
When I saw some of those "javelins" as they were being called, I thought firewood. Still that mulcher is a mean one. The 5410 did amazing with it and your 5075 should handle it just as well.
8 year mulcher here operating dedicated carriers. Try a hydraulic third link and pitch the mulcher down a few degrees when going forward with the door closed. I think you will get more bite and it will lift the chains out of the way to grab the debris vs dragging it.
I know you were just kidding with them Tim, but they don't need a new tractor. That 5410 will last a couple generations with proper maintenance. It's just a good looking machine!
I’m thinking that if the top link had been shortened just a little that maybe it wouldn’t have let the brush jerk under the tractor hardly as much. If you notice it’s tilted more towards the rear which is making a bigger gap between the ground and mulcher to allow brush to come forward under the machine. Not sure it would make a difference but would be worth trying. Great Demonstration!
The best way to cut the bigger stuff would be to lift the mulcher up in the air 2 feet then back over the big tree until it cuts it off. Then you will be over top of the stump, then drop the mulcher down onto the stump grinding it away. The reason for doing it this way is when you got the mulcher all the way down at the start it grabs the biggest part of the stump to soon.
I came to the same conclusion. Although a tractor can be a lot more useful at times. A large heavyduty rotary brush hog would be my choice over that unit.
A Fecon mulcher on a track loader does a much better job. That just looks like the tractor cannot handle the mulcher. I would hate to be backing up all of the time.
Hi Tim thanks for your reviews, great. I am wondering about the bigger Baumalight mulcher. If I open up a field with brush on it what about getting roots totally out of the ground or mulching and going over it again and a again do think the roots will die. Thanks Dave in Canada
I have a feeling that the larger machine will do just as well at mulching once you learn its quirks a bit. You can have the finest paints and brushes but until you learn how to use them, a masterpiece cannot be created.
How do you think the MP560 would work on grinding pine stumps in the 10"-12" range to 1" below grade with a 75 HP John Deere 5075E? I am having 3 acres of pine forest timbered. I was wondering if I cut the pine stumps with my chain saw to ground level, would the MP560 be able to grind the remaining stump to 1" below ground level?
When you go over standing trees, you have to open the back flap, if you are mulching laying trees forward, you have to close it, the Woodchips are getting smaller and you prevent that pieces of wood and stones are flying all around.
I'd love to try that on our tractors to clear out a tree line. You have a lot tools I have a use for. Really want to work out a time to do some projects @ my house & the farm. I want to get an estimate first though.
Yep, even after they said they closed the gate it was throwing stuff under the tractor and out the front at a pretty high velocity. I like what a local guy has -- a skid steer with a forestry disk mulcher mounted on the *front*. I hired him a little over a year ago to do a few hours' work out here. A lot easier to use, not having to go in reverse, and while it throws stuff off to the side, it's not hazardous to the skid steer itself. Yeah, getting a skid steer + the disk mulcher means spending right much more money than simply buying a tractor implement, but it does a lot better job without the danger to your equipment. He stays pretty busy hiring himself out with that thing I believe, so it's paying for itself over time. I'm going to get him out here again before too long, to cut some paths through the woods across the road.
I have a t4.75 New Holland and I would never use that machine to clear. I bet I would replacing pierced power steering hoses, prying wood from my 4WD assembly, replacing pierced hydraulic filters, etc. For the cost of that unit, I'll rent a skid steer with a brush clearing unit and be done with it with lots of cash left over. Yikes...
I know you mentioned this before. How do you protect the hydraulic filters which typically hang below the tractor on John Deere tractors. This mulcher really throws those forward.
Very nice my friend!! That is a nasty machine but that Autumn Olive is nasty!! I have 150 acre of that my self !!! It's great, hate that stuff!! Keep up the great work my love videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These Baumalight units have me really interested. Thanks for demonstrating them. Maybe they could put some type of recirculation plate on the back to minimize throw back. I'm afraid of hydraulic lines and filters getting knocked off. I know Denis Cimaf heads have disks which reduce bite per revolution to reduce grabbing this, kind of like rakers on a chainsaw blade. Denis doesn't make tractor heads though. Even with these features, the skidsteers running them still have demo doors installed. I have a bunch of huge mount of autumn olives taking over an upper pasture, and spreading to the lower pasture, and some hickory saplings. My brush hog has a heart attack going through them, and most it won't even touch. Sounds like I'm grinding up a Volkswagen. I'd like to get an MP348 to clear them out. I have an NH TC30 which should work.
Shopgreendealer.com/ttwt. Call them if they don’t show in stock. We have MP348 for smaller 30-50 hp tractors. This one MP560 is for 60-90 hp tractors or so.
Tim, few day ago I saw on one of your video you on one of the tractor that had fan blower under the canopy. I would like to know how you can buy one of those . Maybe it will help me keeping the bess's off me . Please help . Ron
That is a beast!. I enjoyed watching it in action. I’m guessing it would even grind some bigger tree stumps as well. It also seemed to do a nice job of “tilling” and incorporating the brush and soil below ground level on the finish passes. Yes, it was nice to see father and son working together, and they have a nice place. Looking forward to see more from there.
I think some of the issues with it being so violent in grabbing brush is two issues. On most other muchers you might only have two rows of knives or carbides in a spiral pattern around the drum and for lower HP machines they use depth limiting rings to reduce the "bite" of the cutters. Also I think backing in to a stand with the cutter all the way down on the first pass allows for there to be enough pressure of the ground to keep it engaged to the cutter and pull it rapidly through. (Think feed rollers on a wood planer) and that starting with the cutter higher then working it down as the pieces get smaller to produced better results. Most CTL mulchers work their machines this way.
I agree, watching forestry mulching businesses, they usually do a first pass higher up, then go back in at ground level, I think it was sucking in too much at once.
Enjoyed watching. One suggestion on these videos - it would be nice to see a before and after “panoramic” view of the job. I know I always “take a step back” and admire my work after a job is completed. I think your viewers would get that same sense after watching your videos. God bless.
@@Untruthfulcake if that's not good enough for you, you can contact the manufacturer of this mulcher, or any other PTO powered mulcher and ask them what type of transmission they recommended and why.

That way everything you hook up will be protected by a clutch and you only have 1 clutch to maintan instead of several clutches.

Could you do a review on the 5075e please? And kinda show us how to work it and like a tour of it, thanks! Just think it would be interesting since this is like the first “BIG” you guys are used too.
Tim a cab does protect you from getting a limb smacking you in the nose and breaking it and a twig from poking your eyes out I have had rocks fly up and into my safety glasses while string trimming
Using a foot clutch to creep that slow seems like a bad idea. That's gonna get it way too hot. This would be best suited for something with a wet clutch or creeper mode.
Looks to me to run it a bit off the ground backing and take stuff out. Then on the ground coming back forward. Going back he is eating roots and the top - and roots are tough, they interlace and have strength. Complex mowing and thrashing. That is for certain!
Care with this grinder-it can throw the pieces forward like javelins! And throws stuff backward, too! But it does grind it well-IF the material can stay in the shredding chamber and not get launched out!
Tim, does it bug you that those 3pt pto mulching heads all have gearboxes on one side that are exposed to standing brush/trees beyond the cutter head. Too bad there isn't a way to tuck that behind the head so that isn't getting beat up on standing brush. I suppose after your initial push into the brush, you could work away from the gearbox, but that seems like one advantage of skid-steer hydraulic units. Keep up the great videos!
Tim, I was watching one of your older videos "stick a fork in it" and i think you should take a look at getting a walk behind or straddle stacker. Some are rated to lift up to 8000 pounds but for lifting implements you wouldn't need that much if Johnny can lift them to max height, maybe 2200 lbs?. I thought i would leave the comment on this video as you're more likely to see it. God Bless and have a great day.
We bought an old farm last year. 35 acres of fence line to clear and 10 acres of pasture to reclaim. So far, my wife has done about 4 acres by hand. She got injured and is wanting machinery to finish the job and showed me this video. Since we're still in the gut & add onto phase of fixing the 100+ year old house and the barn needs a new roof, it will be awhile before we can afford equipment to clear the fence lines and reclaim the pasture edgess. Any chance you'd come to AL and let us try it out with a New Holland TL100A for your videos? :-)
For any quantity of trees, or bigger diameter trees a D7 Cat with dozer blade and ripper works the best - especially in the winter time where the roots cleanly come out of the ground.
That kicks butt for sure That is way too big for My L-2501 I'm still glad I have this size for what I do, which is mostly moving dirt & mulch & rototilling Ken
That's one mean brush gobbling machine! With an open tractor I'd be concerned of being whiplashed in the face while getting into the thick stuff. I guess I'm relegated to doing that work by hand tools, but I can dream or just watch your videos! Best regards, Jay
It's a great machine for the clearing that it did. The field is looking good. I would be concerned about using the gear drive other than a hydro drive because I think the life of the clutch will be greatly shortened.
That mulcher does a good job of clearing the trees, but I would be worried about some of the wood hitting and flatting a tire or two while working in that area and that larger tractor does help in that type of work. One guy in my area had a tractor about that size and had a brush hog behind it which did a great job of clearing brush and small trees growing along the power lines. He was working for the area electric company and must have made plenty of money clearing the area along the route and made more than enough money to keep his equipment working just fine. The tractor and mulcher cleaned up that small area quite nicely and the material was ripped up perfectly and turned into mulch where your tractor and brush hog could take care of the rest and I would like rent such a machine to clear some land we have which has been growing up for a long time and too much for my tractor to do alone.
Would it work better like the skid steers. So bigger stuff you lift mulcher high as you can, back into the tree, then lower the cutter onto the stem grinding it to the ground.
I love "stand back" projects. At the end of the project you can stand back and marvel at all your work. 😁 Good stuff Tim!

Could you do a review on the 5075e please? And kinda show us how to work it and like a tour of it, thanks! Just think it would be interesting since this is like the first “BIG” you guys are used too.
Awesome machine.
You could put a chain curtain under the tractor to stop sticks shooting forward that could work
Tim a cab does protect you from getting a limb smacking you in the nose and breaking it and a twig from poking your eyes out I have had rocks fly up and into my safety glasses while string trimming
Using a foot clutch to creep that slow seems like a bad idea. That's gonna get it way too hot. This would be best suited for something with a wet clutch or creeper mode.
I've had no issues with my 5410, it's a great machine. Using it for loader work is great.
Looks to me to run it a bit off the ground backing and take stuff out. Then on the ground coming back forward. Going back he is eating roots and the top - and roots are tough, they interlace and have strength. Complex mowing and thrashing. That is for certain!
The 2038 seems to do a very nice job with the batwing.
Yep.
Will it dig up bamboo?
No idea, but it will dig a bit below the surface.
Wow that thing will cut it down to the ground great work Tim 🇺🇸 🚜
Not sure what you mean by ‘beat up’ there is a heavy duty shield covering the mechanism.
How much does it cost ?
We bought an old farm last year. 35 acres of fence line to clear and 10 acres of pasture to reclaim. So far, my wife has done about 4 acres by hand. She got injured and is wanting machinery to finish the job and showed me this video. Since we're still in the gut & add onto phase of fixing the 100+ year old house and the barn needs a new roof, it will be awhile before we can afford equipment to clear the fence lines and reclaim the pasture edgess. Any chance you'd come to AL and let us try it out with a New Holland TL100A for your videos? :-)
Ha! Would be fun.
For any quantity of trees, or bigger diameter trees a D7 Cat with dozer blade and ripper works the best - especially in the winter time where the roots cleanly come out of the ground.
D6 could do the same and be $1000 cheaper for a weeks worth of rent.
WOW!! Impressive!
That would rip off my filters under my NH . Good video
Could the 2025r tow the bat wing mower
No, I don’t think so. I can’t figure out how to get it hooked onto the 1025r...safely. (Or I would have tried it)
Ok thank you
Wonder what the average life of the knives are and the maintenance cost would be..
I'd love to have one of those for the wild honeysuckle that grows invasively here in Kentucky. That would make short work of it!
That kicks butt for sure
That is way too big for My L-2501
I'm still glad I have this size for what I do, which is mostly moving dirt & mulch & rototilling
Ken
That's one mean brush gobbling machine! With an open tractor I'd be concerned of being whiplashed in the face while getting into the thick stuff. I guess I'm relegated to doing that work by hand tools, but I can dream or just watch your videos! Best regards, Jay
Hey Tim does this tractor have more HP than your Johnny 5??????
Could you have used the loader to push the over and drove over them forward. Giving a better mulching effect ?
Woulda been pretty rough on the tractor.
Nice machine tim and kristie and how bigger the machine how bigger the threes 😁👍nice video
What state of the country is that
My rule on tree limbs: If they start trying to take you off the mower, it’s time to trim......
Elm is some knarly wood for splitting for fire wood. Love the Baumalight. Love the batwing Rhinoag, is there any TTWT discount code for that?
Sorry, no discount on the Rhino TS10. But I really like it!
It's a great machine for the clearing that it did. The field is looking good. I would be concerned about using the gear drive other than a hydro drive because I think the life of the clutch will be greatly shortened.
Performance/production on this mulcher increases by double to triple using Hydrostatic over creeper or low gear. Depends on HP.
If the front bucket were down on float, it may reduce forward shooting projectiles.
Would it work better like the skid steers. So bigger stuff you lift mulcher high as you can, back into the tree, then lower the cutter onto the stem grinding it to the ground.
Might work.
Do you still work with your brothers
