88 Showtime maybe the “only” true mistake, but it is a crucial mistake. Imo he destroyed what the 2017 Yankees were building. They would’ve been better keeping the DH spot open, seeing that you have Judge and Sanchez. They didn’t even have a position for him in the outfield. Dude is a one dimensional player who essential gets lucky and hits a home run. Last season was his second best season in his career, and he isn’t getting any better. 9 more years of him on the team. Only was this trade becomes less of a mistake is if the pitcher they received in the deal becomes a top of the rotation guy.
Cashman got A Rod to leave, got them out of the luxury tax penalty, and rebuilt the farm while putting together a team that made it to game 7 of the ALCS last year on their FIRST YEAR OF REBUILDING. Cashman has been incredible.
the Patriots comparison was terrible. The Yankees won 20 of their World Series' before there was a draft and playoffs. The Patriots have completed their entire dynasty in the salary cap era. If you want to compare the Yankees to an NFL team it would be the Packers, or if you wanted to compare them to an NBA team it would be the Celtics.
Yeah totally agree. I don't want to dismiss their titles, but honestly if you look in the last 50 seasons, from 1969 (start of divisional era), the Yankees still lead everyone in titles with 7, but the A's and Red Sox have 4, Cardinals, Giants with 3, etc. There is no doubt the Yankees had a 50 year stretch of World Series domination, but it was in a different era where it had to be easier to win than it is now. Yankees fans need to let go of the past, they act like they have won 20 of the last 40 WS.
Well if it was so EASY to win all those rings years ago, explain to me WHY your teams couldn’t? I love the excuses Red Sox fans make for 80 plus years of futility 😂 they can’t face how pathetic they were so they need to justify it somehow. 4 titles in 15 seasons is no dynasty.
After the Yankees were eliminated by the Astros last year, every fan I know said that they had to upgrade the starting pitching. Team management declined to do that. They waited for the July deadline to attempt to upgrade. Obviously it was not enough to overtake the Red Sox. In the playoffs, Yankees starting pitching was not just bad, it was awful with no starter lasting more than 5 innings.
I’m a Red Sox, but Brian Cashman is a wizard. Every trade he does works. The problem the people have with Cashman is that he’s not spending money on FA.
Cashman isn't the weak link. He has done a fantastic job revamping the roster. The Yankees need a new batting coach with a marque name that the hitters will listen to. The three true outcome offense (HR, BB or K) works great in the regular season, but it leads to volatility in run production which can result in power outages in the post season. Remember, the Yankees weren't expected to be a World Series contender until 2019. Technically, they are ahead of schedule. They have the prospects to trade for better starting pitching. How well they play in one run ball games will tell us a lot. More than a few hitters need better plate coverage.
Okay so let me get this straight. He’s made all these amazing moves the past year or so AND has you back CONTENDING for a WORLD SERIES within 3 years after jeter and a rod retiring. Are you kidding me?? He’s not doing a good enough job? What the fuck!!!
Good pitching > Good hitting. Especially in October. These power lineups that are homerun or strikeout think they can mash their way through the playoffs and every year it fails. Nothing wrong with having power bats but they also need to be guys that can give you a productive out.
They are wrong in saying Cashman isn’t good enough. They are correct in saying he needs to go after real pitching. That’s trading for an ace and signing 2 more good pitchers. Nothing less will be acceptable.
As Yankees fan, the red socks played better but pitching means a lot in baseball. Cashman has not been doing a great job at getting pitchers, they can score a lot of runs but pitching is needed in baseball to win since pitchers need to make stops.
The best is yet to come, Cash has built a group of young players who still have a much higher ceiling for years into the future. The Yankees were going under the cap to reset tax, that allows them to spend more and have lower tax.IMHO all these moves have improved the future of the Yankees.
Well the thing is Severino was supposed to be that ace. On paper, Sevy, Tanaka and Happ were supposed to be a fantastic rotation. I don’t know what happened to Severino towards the end of the year. Happ had a shit game against the Red Sox but had a sub 2 era against them in two games as a Yankee in the regular season. And the bullpen underachieved as well. I have no idea what happened to the Chad Green of last year. But all that being said, most of all I blame the hitting. Stanton.. Luke.. Didi.. Torres.. Andujar.. you just played an 162 game season for this very moment.. and this is the best you can do?! Shameful. Also, A-Rod as manager as well.
aaa , the Red Sox are a far better defensive team and have much more Team Speed, so the only way you're going to finish ahead of them in the division is to have far superior pitching. The same thing can be said about the Yankees versus Houston.
Too many people here don't know baseball, Jesus Christ. Brian Cashman is one of the best GMs in baseball. More of the blame needs to go on Boone and the coaching staff for gods sake. Did y'all see how they handled Severino, the bullpen, not letting Andujar pinch hit in win or go home, etc.? Not to mention the fact that they can't manufacture runs without hitting dingers whatsoever. Any sort of approach at the plate was nonexistent against the Sox, they were literally guessing. Cash is just the guy that puts the pieces together and my god, he's done incredible assembling talent. They won 100 games and that's nothing to scoff at. Boston and Houston know how to actually string together hits, be clutch, and play small ball.
Simply put, the Bronx Bombers dropped the ball. They stood around waiting for the next guy to carry the team. The whole team lost, so stop blaming several players and mgmt. The whole damn team lost from top to bottom, end of story! Let's go Yankees lets bounce back and win the whole damn thing next year!
Cashman has done a phenomenal job, having said that, 1. He should've traded for Verlander but didn't because they didn't want to absorb his salary and didn't think at his age that he would perform the way he has, 2. He should've traded for Cole IF he could've been had without giving up Torres or andujar, which we really don't know what Pittsburgh was adamant about getting in return. Everyone needs to stop acting like degrom was available for the Yankees because he wasn't, even if Cashman offered Torres and andujar and Sheffield the Mets would still say no just out of pettiness.
Cashman has done a great job. The fact that he got the powers that be to commit to a firesale in 2016 says a whole lot. However, he hasn't been able to make "the trade" (that being for an ace pitcher) that would put the Yankees over the top as true WS contenders. They can't keep trotting out the same pitching rotation, add a middle of the road starter mid-season and think one of them will just magically become an ace. That's pure insanity. This team has to make as Max says: the "critical trade" for an ace at some point or the Yanks will continue to suffer disappointment after disappointment. Yes, it'll cost a top prospect or two, but what do you think it would take to land an ace? Runs do win games, but as Stephen A said: "Pitching wins Championships."
You're crazy if you think Cash has done anything but an amazing job. They are in a primed position to land Patrick Corbin and Machado out of free agency and have a loaded farm system. That is what sustains success.
Edwin Ortiz then call me nuts, Cashman has made some shrewd trades to create the team, but aside from Tanaka what starting pitchers do we have who are remotely reliable? CC is smoked Severino is inconsistent Happ was good but didn’t perform when needed Lynn was a waste of a trade Yes he’s had some great pickups and yes the ‘old days’ of no farm system doesn’t work, but it may have hurt to acquire Verlander, but we should have done it to ensure we are competitive If not, we need to go all in this winter to acquire pitching, for all Mr Steinbrenners flaws as an owner he wanted to have a winning team in the Bronx and for the large part he delivered that. Hal needs to be more like his dad and light a fire under Cashman that, World Series are what matters
Just get the best starters that are available this winter and let’s get 109 wins. Little to no lineup adjustments needed. What’s needed are new coaches
Disagree. Cashman put together amazing players. Steinbrenner didn't let him build his own team for a long time. He held together Gene Michael's Yankees way too long until he finally got permission to rebuild. Boone's job is to turn them into an amazing team. That's where we failed.
That's enough for Brian Cashman get fired right now that's waste time long way! Fired him! Never sign a new pitcher is only world series experience player in free agent ever! When? Just do it now!
You can’t have it both ways because I distinctly remember during the mid to late 00s Cashman/Yankees spending a boatload of money on talent and only getting one ring out of it. They got criticized and laughed at for trying to buy a World Series as ppl were saying. Now he’s trying to build a legit system and actually use scouts and it’s still not good enough like damn
He's getting there. It ain't Cashman's fault the Yankees didn't get far this year. He got Happ and Lynn for the rotation. There just wasn't good pitchers on the market that they could have gotten at the trade deadline. Better to have some pitching than nothing, but definitely in the offseason, they'll try to sign some free agent pitchers and resign those that are free agents on the team.
are you actually joking? im a yankees fan but cashman saved our season its not his fault our starting pitching decided to shit the bed Max obviously doesnt pay close attention to the yankees. i dont even blame boone to be honest our starting pitchers played their worst baseball in the post season
The argument of "you are the new York Yankees" isn't an argument any more. Teams all across the league are smarter. You can't just spend your way to a title.

Yankees GM isn't doing enough in NY no World Series is a wasted season and Aaron Judge trolling the Red Sox in Fenway came back to bite them in the long run smh😕
The Yankees have a stacked farm system right now, they should trade some of the farm. They're also right about the Yankees standard of excellence and the pressure in NY. This is coming from a Red Sox fan who gets pure ecstasy when the Yankees fail, especially at the hands of the Red Sox. Stephen A. & Max is right. Now I think Dombrowski has been a bit too loose with dealing away the prospects and the Sox have to rebuild their farm system. (I agreed with the Sale deal, Kimbrel he should've been able to pull off with 3 prospects, not 4 and Thornburg for 4 prospects, not even a closer he deals 4 prospects) Also Houston is the smart money, but as a Red Sox fan I'm delusionally hoping for an upset. Also can anyone else talk about the irony of the GM named Cashman for the Yankees?

I did not mention the red sox at all... funny how your brain goes right to that.
Speak the truth Max
💯
So earlier they said the Yankees would beat the Sox, now they going in on the Yankees GM. This show funny man 😂😂😂😂😂.
Thank you!
As a Passionate Yankee Fan I'm one of the Few that Respects The Red Sox Org. And Its Fans They Beat us at our Game and Play Small Ball
40 seconds of good quality sports content and then Molly ruined it with her voice
Fucking molly can't help herself
@Mind of the North Star facts brother, facts
At this point, I just cant hate on her any more. She has grown on me.
That Guy You gay and hate women
IT IS TIME FOR CASHMAN TO GO, CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THAT TOO THE OWNERS!
They need to have more baseball topics
Gotta love three guys who know nothing about baseball talking about baseball.
Well said Max - The Boss is turning over in his grave right now
Good pitching > Good hitting.
“The Yankees have 27 rings”... No one cares
and max fails to realize the fact that even if his Yankees did fire Cashman they he could easily get another GM position in a heartbeat
Says a jets fan 😂you don’t know what it’s like to win you fucking loser
As Yankees fan, the red socks played better but pitching means a lot in baseball. Cashman has not been doing a great job at getting pitchers, they can score a lot of runs but pitching is needed in baseball to win since pitchers need to make stops.
The best is yet to come, Cash has built a group of young players who still have a much higher ceiling for years into the future. The Yankees were going under the cap to reset tax, that allows them to spend more and have lower tax.IMHO all these moves have improved the future of the Yankees.
The Yankees problem is no the GM is the pitching staff we need more pitching
Yes...
aaa , the Red Sox are a far better defensive team and have much more Team Speed, so the only way you're going to finish ahead of them in the division is to have far superior pitching.
Been a decade since they been in and won a world series criticism is fair
Stephen A is 100% correct
Simply put, the Bronx Bombers dropped the ball. They stood around waiting for the next guy to carry the team. The whole team lost, so stop blaming several players and mgmt. The whole damn team lost from top to bottom, end of story! Let's go Yankees lets bounce back and win the whole damn thing next year!
What I can't fathom is why he signed Stanton instead of a strating pitcher and some extra arms.
Completely agree with Max and Stephen on Teflon Brian Cashman. Under his watch the red sox have surpassed the Yankees....sadly.
I would take Cashman from NY in a heartbeat. Come to Boston.
we had a good year im a little disappointed but that's my team for life in baseball . we didn't have enough pitching. we will win it next year
The Yankees have won two series in the 21st century and I'm a Met fan btw lol
Cashman has done a phenomenal job, having said that, 1. He should've traded for Verlander but didn't because they didn't want to absorb his salary and didn't think at his age that he would perform the way he has, 2. He should've traded for Cole IF he could've been had without giving up Torres or andujar, which we really don't know what Pittsburgh was adamant about getting in return. Everyone needs to stop acting like degrom was available for the Yankees because he wasn't, even if Cashman offered Torres and andujar and Sheffield the Mets would still say no just out of pettiness.
This, all of this 2019 one ring and In 09 during the off-season they signed the pitchers they needed to finish the job.
Sometimes listening to Max makes me embarrassed to be a Yankees fan
Yankees are the best franchise in sports on this earth and I'm from Chicago no bias
The Yankees made a huge mistake letting Girardi go.
The standard has won in a long time
You need pitching and the ability to manufacture runs. Home runs will get you regular season wins but that doesn't translate to a late postseason run.
Does anybody else feel like the ppl at espn just look at highlights nd print out a page full of stats cuz they clearly dont watch the games
CC is smoked
Severino is inconsistent
Happ was good but didn’t perform when needed
Lynn was a waste of a trade
Yes he’s had some great pickups and yes the ‘old days’ of no farm system doesn’t work, but it may have hurt to acquire Verlander, but we should have done it to ensure we are competitive
If not, we need to go all in this winter to acquire pitching, for all Mr Steinbrenners flaws as an owner he wanted to have a winning team in the Bronx and for the large part he delivered that.
Hal needs to be more like his dad and light a fire under Cashman that, World Series are what matters
I'm a yankees fan and I thought it was a good season. I think we are moving in the right direction. We do need starting pitching though.
Fact check max- Cashman was GM since 1998. He has 4 chips against bostons 3 since that time.
The argument of "you are the new York Yankees" isn't an argument any more. Teams all across the league are smarter. You can't just spend your way to a title.
So no one is going to mention that Cashman can only spend and trade what the Steinbrenner’s allow him to?

I think New York has a problem.....
Cashman has done a fabulous job. Terrific farm system and a 100 win season. Just spending isn't gonna win, max isn't the best when it comes to baseball thoughts.
Wait, Cashman has 4 World Series wins not 1. Did I misunderstand something? Bob Watson won in ‘96 then Cashman won in ‘98, ‘99, ‘00 and ‘09. Lol
If you want to know why ESPN is failing in modern times, watch this video
(I agreed with the Sale deal, Kimbrel he should've been able to pull off with 3 prospects, not 4 and Thornburg for 4 prospects, not even a closer he deals 4 prospects)
Also Houston is the smart money, but as a Red Sox fan I'm delusionally hoping for an upset. Also can anyone else talk about the irony of the GM named Cashman for the Yankees?
I am dying Lmfao at 2:50 sas dissed Giancarlo badly lol
Never should have let Girardi go.
Lmfaoooo this episode is sooo hilarious specially cause the episode before this one SAS said “Yankees will win game 4” lmfaooo with his chest out 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Eat these words max Cash went out and got Cole
Max, the Yankees have the best prospects in the majors such as Judge, Torres, Andujar, and Sanchez and they've all done a hell of a job this year and are kinda the reason they got where they're. This is coming from a mets fan
I was hyped to see some more baseball until I realized they’re all Yankees fans
Dinger City lol yanks the best 27 game prod series. Who are you a fan of?
How much y'all wanna bet they won't say a word about the rest of the playoffs now that the Yankees are gone.
Molly interrupts to much, i been noticing that a lot lately. She needs to let them debate.
Great point, under the 100 years prior to Cashman, redsox 0 world series.
Cashman bring: Britton, Mccuthen, Happ, Lynn, Stanton...
I'm pissed!!!!!!
"they've already won three" for god sakes max we have won 8
