The Yankees offseason tells you this is nonsense. From a Yankee fan, 2 holes needed to be filled with another ace to join Cole and a shortstop. Sherzer was available for that and Trevor Story was available for that and they went to our rivals in the Mets and Red Sox respectively. That is just embarrassing and stupid. He should just shut up.

Exactly. I live in Houston and I've been to playoff games at Minute Maid Park...and it is LOUD in there! Maybe something like the banging can work in the regular season, but the playoffs are a totally different noise level in a stadium that has a roof. The Astros even won 2 important games of the 2017 World Series on the road at Dodger Stadium, which proved the team didn't need a trash can system to win games.

Hear me out... Worst thing that ever happened to the Yankees - the new Yankee Stadium.
2009 was the last year when the Yankees were as we think of them, doing everything possible to win. This era of "fiscal responsibility" is helped by stadium revenue that wasn't there with the old stadium.
The Steinbrenner family is raking in more money and the team is worth 6 billion. Winning championships is no longer a top priority for the front office. They're acting like they're a smaller market team, but no Yankees fan will give them squat for it because they're still top 3 payroll.
We passed on Machado and Harper, both around 27 at the time. We gave Aaron Hicks a 7-year commitment, and not once did we look longingly at Trout. Is this the behavior that we expect from the Yankees front office?
Maybe because George Steinbrenner is no longer around applying the immense pressure to win anymore. Not reaching or even winning the WS was not an option for him. They reached the WS(played in 11 & won 7 in total) every decade when he was around. He died in '10 and haven't played in one since '09, just sayin'.

That is a poor excuse. Yes Astros cheated and maybe it prevented the Yanks from going to the WS, but cameron maybin who now works for the YES Network and had a stint on that 2017 Astros team said that he did not think anything of it because it was not the worst thing he ever saw in an MLB clubhouse. Why do we act like this isnt a common thing that is happening in MLB clubhouses? Im not an Astros fan and im not trying to excuse them. There is a letter that the Commissioner sent the Yankees from like 2017 that a judge wants to make public and MLB is and the Yankees are fighting to not make it public. Maybe its nothing but I find it weird that they are fighting so hard to not make it public.
Everybody acts like had it not been for the cheating the Astros would've gone 62-100. They were still a great team. Im not trying tot defend them but to act like they would've lost had it not been for that is ridiculous.

The Yankees scored 19 runs in 3 games in NY. But the Yankees only won ONE ROAD game in the road games that they played against Cleveland and Houston COMBINED. They went 1/6 on the ROAD in the entire span of their postseason run.

The Houston Astros won the World Series in Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles lol.
They also won Game 2 in LA. They were losing in the 9th inning and tied the game with a HR. They scored SIX runs on the Dodgers' bullpen, beginning in the 8th inning, with a rally that Bregman started. In the 9th inning, Marwin Gonzalez hit a HR against Jansen to tie the game. Altuve and Correa hit back to back HRs in extra innings. Springer hit another 2 run homer to put that game away. In LA, extra innings.

They have appealed the judge's decision to unseal the letter TWICE: IN SPITE OF THE JUDGE GIVING THEM PERMISSION TO REDACT NAMES! If this last appeal isn't granted, they will have to go to the SUPREME COURT to try to keep the letter sealed. This organization has spent more on legal fees and fake propaganda to try to keep the letter sealed compared to what they have spent on free agents! 🤦♀️

Its insaneeeeee that people questions the ability of brian cashman. People forget how injury ridden this team has been over the last 10 years. And the amount of trades and pickups that he’s done with seemingly unknown or overlooked players, who turn out to be yankee studs is astronomical. He is not a good gm, he is a GREAT gm. Shame on all of you to question the ability of brian cashman.
Injuries happen to every team. Quit making excuses for Cashman. He isn’t a good GM. He always has the biggest payroll and the Yankees haven’t made it to the WS in 12 years. It’s the Yankees and when they don’t make it to the WS it’s a bad season. He used the Astros an an excuse for not winning since 2009. That was only 1 season. What about the other 11? Once you get there its like scratching a lottery ticket to see who wins. The yankees have been relevent since 1996, no other sports franchise can say that!! Agree. Hearing people try to argue that the cheating wasn't a deciding factor. I mean obviously it was but even if it wasnt...who cares, you cheated. I couldn't care less if it helped in any way shape or form. They cheated so they should have the title vacated and the record books should reflect the reality that their wasn't a champion in 2017.
Where I disagree is where you say Yankees cheated for multiple titles. How so? Because there were PED guys? If that's what you mean, then where is the advantage for the Yankees if they're playing teams that also have PED guys like literally every team had.
You don't see Yankee fans defending A-Rod or Clemens. They were the ones cheating, not the team. It was individuals deciding as individuals to cheat. Houston was a team dividing a system y which the entire lineup could cheat. Big difference between the two.
@@snerdterguson baseball is a team sport and some of the Yankees key players were taking steroids at the time. Their two best pitchers and one of their top two or three hitters. Clearly outside the rules. Had those players been caught at the time, do the Yankees even make the playoffs? Highly unlikely. You do bring up a good point in that most teams were cheating in that way at the time. That hasn't changed. Most teams do cheat today. There's been players come out since 2017 to say that as recently as this week. Chris Sale just came out and said many teams were cheating while the Astros were and his team was one the Astros eliminated in 2017. It's a cheating league. . Look at the crackdown on pitchers last year. Substances on the ball also outside the rules that give pitchers an advantage. I think that is exactly why the Astros weren't stripped. It seems it's part of the culture. I think they weren't stripped because the league wouldn't be able to stop with just the Astros and that's a can of worms the commissioner didn't want to open.

The Yankees and Red Sox were fined for conduct related to ELECTRONIC sign-stealing in 2017 for "things" they did between 2015-2016. They were cheating long before they got fined. That is what the Yankees" unsealed letter lawsuit is all about: a time frame from when Beltran was still with them, BTW. It's a myth that it was just the Astros doing it. Tom Verducci was writing about LEAGUEWIDE electronic sign-stealing in 2018, BEFORE MIke Fiers snitched! The Yankees and Red Sox got fined TWO YEARS BEFORE Fiers snitched as well for something they did FOUR YEARS before Fiers said anything. 🤦♀️ He snitched in Nov 2019. Tom Verducci wrote in 2018:
“Many clubs now have as many as SIX high magnification CAMERAS installed in their HOME ballpark SPECIFICALLY designed to STEAL signs from opponents.”

Verducci once AGAIN wrote in Sports Illustrated back in 2020:
"Once baseball went to a challenged replay system, they put television monitors within range of the dugoutS (LEAGUEWIDE) that had CAMERAS dedicated from CENTER FIELD to the HOME PLATE area and those CAMERAS were in REAL TIME. It was just too tempting for a lot of players not to take advantage of and misuse. That I call Pandora'a Box that was opened by players stealing signs. Now the Commissioner is trying to close that box and who knows what other forms of technology will make policing this kind of thing even more difficult."
Verducci has been one of the journalists to report that it was a leaguewide problem. Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich from The Athletic have done so too.
If this was a leaguewide problem, then it's no different than what you're saying about PEDS. The playing field was leveled out.
Also what people haven't realized is that there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE that the Astros used the scheme in the postseason. Manfred had just issued a warning against ELECTRONIC sign-stealing in Sept 2017, right BEFORE the postseason. He issued this warning after he fined the Red Sox and Yankees for conduct related to ELECTRONIC sign-stealing. If you look at Manfred's statement about the Astros and the postseason, all it says is: "It is IN MY VIEW, that they continued...[in the postseason]. But Jomboy has ZERO videos of the Astros using the scheme in the postseason. He only turned in videos of them using the scheme in REGULAR season games, when a lot of other teams were breaking the same rules. If you read Fiers's accusation as he said it, he only accused them of using the scheme in REGULAR SEASON/HOME GAMES. It was Tom Verducci AGAIN who clarified:
One of the sources said: "There is no evidence that the trash can system was used in the postseason or in 2018." "
According to two more sources familiar with the investigation: "Houston did not use the trash can system in the 2017 postseason. Banging on trash cans would be too obvious in the HIGHTENED SCRUTINY of the postseason environment."
There was already HEIGHTENED SCRUTINY because of the warnings, fines, and complaints that MLB was receiving regarding ELECTRONIC SIGN-STEALING from multiple clubs. This is no secret. People just have to read for themselves instead of believing what they're TOLD to believe. Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich wrote this in The Athletic:
"The accounts about the Red Sox’s activity were given to The Athletic on the condition of anonymity. The sources said they are bothered by a SUBCULTURE of IN-GAME ELECTRONIC sign stealing that they believe GREW in recent years among CONTENDING teams, if not more WIDELY ACROSS the sport, and who say they want MLB to act in a broad way.

MLB completely failed to address this problem as it should have been addressed.

I think the point is that people are realizing the Astros were just a scapegoat by MLB for a problem that was happening with several other teams, too. The Astros weren't the only team to use technology to steal signs, just like A-Rod wasn't the only player to use steroids. It's just a better story for the media to point a finger at players on teams who won a championship....

If they want to strip the Astros title, they have to strip Bostons 2018 title and all the Yankees titles from before. NY acts like they don’t have a history of winnIng chips on STEROIDS. The way I look at it, the Astros title was won fair and square. Champs of all cheaters. Beltran brought that cheating system from NY and tought the Astros. They weren’t the only team using these methods back then. Open the LETTERS already NY.
