Randy Owens and the group Alabama have always been the best....I listened to them as a kid...and everytime I hear Alabamas music it brings back many awesome memories
When I met my future husband for the first time in October 1984 he was playing guitar and vocals in a band. The first time him called me up to the stage he sang “Why Lady Why” and he nailed it… My Husband worked the June Jam and he also worked many of the late Jeff Cook’s birthday celebrations on Lake Guntersville. We attended the last down on the farm event. The group Alabama has played a very important part in our relationship and also you have been “the biggest influences in my darling Jeff’s music. We hope to see you in 2025 at the June Jam… WE LOVE YOU ALABAMA!!!!!!❤
Congratulations Randy on the award well deserved. I have been a fan of ALABAMA for 40 years. Love you Randy, Teddy and Jeff (RIP) and your music! Alabamafan4ever! ❤
It was a quiet weekday, June 1982, in Birmingham, Alabama. I'm dropping off my aunt at the airport. We were headed back home, and I saw a nice man getting ready to get in his car. I was with my uncle, a pastor, and his one-year-old son. The nice man we saw was familiar, with neat, shoulder-length hair, and a beard (Teddy Gentry), but the next guy was unmistakable - Randy Owen. The other two were moving fast, and their driver was moving them out... FAST. People in the airport had just noticed that Alabama was among their passengers and wanted to be a part of the action. Meanwhile, the State's exhausted Hometown Legends, in the midst of the greatest years, were just seeking a much-needed break. Before they left, I got a handshake from Mr. Gentry, and a smile and wave from Mr. Owen - That made the day of this recently High School Graduate. Well, recently, as of 42 Years Ago! That Uncle is a Retired Pastor, though he works with Seniors and all others in the same Church and supports the new Pastor. His 1-year-old is married, him and his wife both work in the medical field and have 2 beautiful twins in the 3rd grade. I am a Retired US Army Chaplain (Major), currently serving as a Hospital Chaplain. I am grateful to be an American and a Born-Again Christian. I am thankful for family and for wonderful memories such as these. Thank you, Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, and Jeff Cook - Your distinctive, incredible, and legendary talent - and that ONE brief, chance meeting - will NEVER be forgotten. God bless you and yours!
