I watch this often. From time to time. When I feel like I need to be humbled in the existentialism of my own of existence. I play both piano and guitar. And as a pianist, I came close to playing this moonlight sonata 3rd movement. It was a realistic goal. But as a guitarist, this is a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL. one that I will never achieve. Not with endless lessons and practice. not with determined trying and tearful cursing and bleeding my fingers to the bone practicing. Imagine the jam sessions in the afterlife. Beethoven invites Gershwin over to his house for their weekly piano/harpsichord dual. Chopin, Mancini, Liszt, and Ellington are in their usual conservatory chairs, ready to act as judges. At the other end of the mansion, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, and Haydn are listening to Bach, Mozart, Armstrong, and Hendrix warm up in the drawing room. Joe leans over to ask Toni when Glenn is going to show up. Handel is in the corner with Ella and Aretha, newly inspired to write an oratorio for the two, and furiously scribbling away. Then the door opens and the whole room shouts "Neil!" as the Professor walks in. Jimi gives him a nod, but Satch says, "You're late," and points to his kit.
I must have watched this amazing performance about 30 times and I am still mesmerised. The power and huge guitar tone that Tina casually delivers is incredible. Yes, there are other talented metal players who can play this piece but Tina is a cut above. She started studying classical guitar at a very early age and it shows here. Everything is geared towards 100% efficiency and perfection from the way she is holding the guitar to her « hand and wrist » position, calmly shredding Beethoven …
I've been watching a few of these metal covers of classical music and was just thinking it was the metal of it's time, they just didn't have electricity! 🤣
As a classically trained pianist, with the 3rd movement of Moonlight Sonata being my 'signature piece' by around 10 years old, I am completely blown away at the precision, speed, and tastefulness at which this version is performed. If only I could go back in time and have studied guitar instead of piano.... sigh

That was truly amazing as it was beautiful!! Classical music played on a guitar (especially with overdrive/distortion) sounds so awesome! This lady just destroys it, nailing every note! Geez, its splendor made me want to cry! Wow. Just WOW!
One more comment on top of thousands, but as a kid I remember trying to learn to play the original composition on piano, hundreds of hours, and never getting anywhere close to proficient. Listened to a podcast a year or so ago where I think they sampled you and said Beethoven may have been the first heavy-metal composer, and thinking to myself “God that’s why I always loved this piece!” Just knowing this recording exists is a treasure. This has brought joy to my soul in the middle of some really dark times, just knowing that some human being somewhere took as much joy in hearing Beethoven as I always did, and I believe divined his intent from the ether Similarly, but actually put in the diligence to fully realize it… It’s the essence of magic, it’s electrifying, I have to see if you sell a copy of your audio on iTunes because I want to on this forever.
most metal guitar players I have met in my 55 years doing music are classically trained in technique and theory. I think the only other person that does the Infamous Third of MS, however, is her tutor.
Beethoven is #1. His music is so dynamic, it adapts well to electric guitar. I also love J .S. Bach. and would love to hear Tina play some of the Brandenburg Concertos. She has an eclectic range of musical tastes and I love it. The variety of the pieces she plays shows her great talent and adaptability. My favorite guitarist!!
Ok wtf...she's a MACHINE! She literally could not have performed this better, not 1 sour note, not even 1, absolutely perfect timing throughout, every note rings loud, clear and true. Tina impresses me more than any guitarist I've ever heard, and I've been playing for 20 years, I am just so blown away I'm almost at a loss for words. I've watched this video several times trying to find even one thing I could say for constructive criticism and all I can say is to maybe show more emotion and to not make it look so damn easy! This song is a serious finger workout on both hands, and I bet she could have kept playing this song over and over again back to back without breaking a sweat. She is incredibly gifted, I would love to hear some original compositions from her. I hope she never stops playing, talent like this deserves to be heard and appreciated.

Well, it IS true that most pieces of classical music are just as heavy or even heavier than metal. It's no wonder that the 2 genres can be fused so beautifully.
This should make it clear that Beethoven, Bach, et al, really were the rock stars of their time and with interpretations of their music like this, they are stars in our lifetime too. Greatness is eternal.

@ExiLeZH correct. Talent is needed, but the drive to geep practicing is just as important. That said, I have to say I don't like it. It has what some Chinese musicians also have. An enormous vituosity, but musicality not so much.
@@MrKakatoe I don't see the problem with a strong work ethic to develop great technical skills, however that doesn't guarantee the development of creative skills aswell ofcourse. Creativeness is indeed an example of born talent and is hardly trainable. Anyways, a problem that many of these super dedicated (Chinese) musicians have is that they focus too much at speed, but still suck at basic techniques like bends and vibrato's. These techniques shouldn't be underestimated as they really are the core of a great sound and what people consider to be emotion in one's play. These skills are actually extremely hard to master and once you do you have the ability to indistinguishably sound like other great musicians and have the ability to develop your own unique sound that other people like, which also again requires creativity.
Dear Tina. Please ignore the haters in the room. You are talented, driven and your execution is beautiful. I am sure Beethoven himself would smile at the arrangement and execution. You have gained a subscriber and a fan of your motivation and work ethic. Keep it up!
"I am sure Beethoven himself would smile at the arrangement and execution." Hell, if it was Beethoven from "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure", he'd be playing right along with her. :)
Why does she HAVE to learn the violin. You can play any kind of music on whatever damn instrument you damn well like. Omg 100% closed minded. If everyone thought like you, we would still be living in caves and using bone tools. 😂
To the people saying she has no style of her own: she is very early in her musical journey and will develop a style with time. You can't expect her to already have a fully developed style at 17 years old, that's ludicrous. Her technical skills are extraordinary and will surely blossom into a unique and equally as extraordinary style. And she's a better guitarist than 99% of all the people watching the video so we can only imagine where she will be in 15 or 20 years.
Nicholas McCallon everyone has their own style at any point when they start to play guitar. No one has ever seen her just play something that SHE has written. Maybe she hasn't written anything but if she did, that would be an execution of her own "style" wouldn't it?
xPBKM4x what I meant when I made that comment was when someone who has been playing guitar(well) for many years plays a song, they change it to suit their style. When Hendrix is playing, most people who've listened to him know who's playing because of his distinctive style. When you hear SRV, you know it's SRV. When you hear insane slap picking, Flea comes to mind. What I'm saying is her method (style) of playing is a precise, classical technique, which makes sense because she started on classical guitar from a young age. Yes she has a style ,of course, but her style isn't a unique style that's hers and hers only.
also full credit to WHAT songs she's listening to/learning ... _not many_ 17yo's will devote the time required to learning a complex classic like Beethoven, seriously she's on another level man and anyone who criticizes her is oozing jealousy, and perhaps confronted because a 17yo girl is making their own guitarwork look ordinary. R'n'fn'R
What's most impressive is that you can tell she gets the music internally just from seeing how she reacts to each phrase. Lots of pianists miss out on that. They're either stiff from trying to impress or rigidly conforming to score scribbles. Interesting style will surely develop after experiencing and experiments with many others. As for another level...this is essentially a passionate arpeggio exercise. Check out a complex Bach fugue on guitar. Probably the hardest thing to do with the same energy as this video. Almost no one can touch that stuff (from what I've seen on yt so far).
Took me over a decade to master the third movement of the Moonlight Sonata on piano. Can't play it today after not practicing daily for over 5 years. Always believed that Beethoven had a bit of a metal side to him, being deaf and all, and this rather does prove it, in an amusing way. Awesome work, Tina.
Jack Metzel I think you mean a lot of Metal has a lot of Classical undertones, given that Classical came beforehand. But from the perspective of certain composers being a bit more metal than others.;.. yeah. Beethoven, Paganini, and a host of others definitely could shred in their own way.
systempatcher Heh... to get it perfect, you have to practice daily, and then keep playing it at least once a week. I haven't had time to do that with a full-time job, family, etc. It's not exactly the first and second movement where once you learn it, you know it, because they aren't technically demanding.
Anyone jumping in to the 3rd, even just on piano KNOWS the complexity and beauty of this piece of music. This was mind-blowingly tear-bringing. Just fantastic!

That level of chill only comes from massive amounts of repetition (practice) and the resulting muscle memory that occurs from that effort. She also has to be "gifted" to start with. Cheers.

Andres Segovia said to practice with feeling until you can play the song seven times without error. His guitar playing was flawless, amazing and moving.
I might have watched more than 100 times. But what amazes me is how in control she is with the piece and the instrument while playing it live. For ex: Pickup selector changes at 0:56, 1:19, 2:05 (right in time for the squeal), 2:28, tone adjustment at 2:30 etc while playing a piece that's very complex and technical. Hopefully she comes back with some more music at some stage
@@kevinrafferty7250 It's still tucked between her thumb and index finger...she's tapping with her 2nd & 3rd fingers so the pick stays out of the way. It moved sorta fast but not as fast as this.
Regardless of the style of this arrangement, this guitarist has all the attributes of a classically-trained musician - almost flawless technique/mastery of her instrument, concentration, a great ear, and most of all - feel. Amazing chops! Speaking just as a matter of personal taste, I tire of the restless volume/lack of dynamics found in some heavy metal, but to be honest, the third movement of the Moonlight Sonata is a great choice for this style - it's a pretty furious chunk of music! I also have no doubts that Tina S can interpret a score that has a greater dynamic range with grace and beauty. Best wishes for a wonderful career in music, Tina.
Wagmore Barkless This was exactly my sentiment. Fast flashy technique is one thing, and it's awesome, but being able to execute it with such fantastic control is mind blowing. Someone above said it would take 200 years to get this good. The truth is that most of us will never be this good. Natural ability is a real thing. It can't substitute for lack of practice, but she is truly an example of someone with playing ability hardcoded into her DNA. I too wish her all the best.
Natural ability can't replace practice, you're 100% correct here. However! All the practice in the world doesn't substitute for natural ability. I could insert Starcraft 2 into this for an analogy; I could learn it, and practice forever, but my fingers will never provide the precision/apm required to be a professional, much less a prodigy.
My first time watching and listening I was impressed also. Now I just listen for the marvelous musical masterpiece and the a dose of endorphin bliss that follows.
This is a gift. Two geniuses. The genius of Beethoven and his bursting emotion, just listen to all the chord scales. My god. And the genius of this lady. Two geniuses merging to show to us the beauty of human expression.

There's such a HUGE connection between Metal and Classical. That's where I had started in High School.
I've been watching a few of these metal covers of classical music and was just thinking it was the metal of it's time, they just didn't have electricity! 🤣
Awesome high-energy girl makes it sizzle! Absolutely outstanding. Cheers!
If Beethoven, Mozart, Bach etc. were alive today, they would compose metal songs. These guys were really bad a**es.
Classic music IS metal before electricity
Of course, you know what is "Neo-classic" Metal ?
This is the most impressive demonstration of skills with a guitar I have ever seen.
What is absolutely amazing is she is at a level that most professional guitarists can only dream of reaching. This is absolutely nuts.
What do you mean by professional? Guitarists who play the local scene or like ones who opened for Megadeath.
As a classically trained pianist, with the 3rd movement of Moonlight Sonata being my 'signature piece' by around 10 years old, I am completely blown away at the precision, speed, and tastefulness at which this version is performed. If only I could go back in time and have studied guitar instead of piano.... sigh

One more comment on top of thousands, but as a kid I remember trying to learn to play the original composition on piano, hundreds of hours, and never getting anywhere close to proficient. Listened to a podcast a year or so ago where I think they sampled you and said Beethoven may have been the first heavy-metal composer, and thinking to myself “God that’s why I always loved this piece!”
Just knowing this recording exists is a treasure.

Ok wtf...she's a MACHINE! She literally could not have performed this better, not 1 sour note, not even 1, absolutely perfect timing throughout, every note rings loud, clear and true. I've watched this video several times trying to find even one thing I could say for constructive criticism and all I can say is to maybe show more emotion and to not make it look so damn easy! This song is a serious finger workout on both hands, and I bet she could have kept playing this song over and over again back to back without breaking a sweat.
Keep it up!

11,000 dislikes? Jealousy is a horrible trait. Beethoven would be proud of this lady, absolutely magnificent.😍
@S Maksymiv who said it was over gender
I completely agree. How can you not find this incredible and entertaining. Some people just don’t know talent when they see it.
Her guitar wasn't plugged in
It is not jealousy. This lady is a very good guitarist, but if she wants to play BEETHOVEN, she has to learn the piano.
Agreed. High five✋🏻
Like many others I've watched this multiple times over the years. I'm always amazed by the blistering energy and sheer technical brilliance of it.

Jack Metzel I think you mean a lot of Metal has a lot of Classical undertones, given that Classical came beforehand. But from the perspective of certain composers being a bit more metal than others.;.. yeah. Beethoven, Paganini, and a host of others definitely could shred in their own way.

I never knew that this was even possible to play such a complex classical piano piece on an electric guitar. I am completely stunned
you mean:
"I NEVER KNEW YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE INSTRUMENT A BY INSTRUMENT B AND FOLLOW THE NOTES" and fail to deliever the meaing because i dont understand why the composer choose instrument A...
or in other words: you listening to a moron and being impressed by mechanical talents a ape can reproduce...to bad she has no musical talents...covers dont just repeated notes, they still deliever the original message by different transportation....calling this a cover is a insult!
@@klauskinski5969 Lmao you're the combination between a snob and a hater, she's talented as fuck.
The guitar and the piano have the same exact notes and the most. The only instrument with more notes and greater range is the vocalist. Having said that to say this , Tina is light years beyond anyone that has ever touched a guitar. Truly amazing

Technically it´s not perfection. She does some minor mistakes. But that´s nitpicking. Amazing of course.

Listen to etas tonne.
That’s insane I just watched it all for the first time but I never noticed that jeez
Never even noticed, thanks
And where does she put the plec when she's tapping?
100%! Really hoping she comes back!
@@kevinrafferty7250 It's still tucked between her thumb and index finger...she's tapping with her 2nd & 3rd fingers so the pick stays out of the way. Tho it looks like she might be using that at the same time for a drone. I was never able to play this part. Always loved playing the first movement of his Sonata Pathetique back in the late 80's. It moved sorta fast but not as fast as this.
Man I really enjoyed this. I hope she does more.

To say "I'm impressed" is not covering my admiration & respect
@Steinar Garhovd Same here dude!^_^
They Best to come along in mine year's would buy ALL of her DVD and cds
Wagmore Barkless This was exactly my sentiment. Fast flashy technique is one thing, and it's awesome, but being able to execute it with such fantastic control is mind blowing. Someone above said it would take 200 years to get this good. The truth is that most of us will never be this good. Natural ability is a real thing. It can't substitute for lack of practice, but she is truly an example of someone with playing ability hardcoded into her DNA. I too wish her all the best.
...ah..I think I'll burn my guitar now! Bob.
Wagmore Barkless almost...... you're an idiot
Wow. Just wow. It really feels like it was written for this kind of guitar. Amazing.
As a piano player, I am BEYOND impressed. WOW.
My first time watching and listening I was impressed also. Now I just listen for the marvelous musical masterpiece and the a dose of endorphin bliss that follows.
As a piano player who can't even play this on the piano, I feel incredibly talentless
Practice all day and get a strict teacher and anyone can be her lol
