I'd likely have just tied the ends, but I do like the idea of locking by stitching back 5 stitches better than skipping back and having one long loop before going over it - so second method works for me on hidden work, the first is my choice for tidy work with visible stitching.
Another great video I am saving in my watch list. I appreciate the time and detail you provide to these videos :D 00:34 - Simple back stitch 02:46 - Manual double knot w/o needle 05:25 - Ooni's Ninja Trick! Kangaroo's hop
Glad it was helpful! I realize I tend to ramble at times haha. I'll try to cut down on it in future. Appreciate the time stamps. I don't know how to make these yet! xx

@@OoniCrafts thank you so much for all you already do! your content is very informative and helpful. I actually do have a question I am not sure if it was already covered in another video. My mini sewing machine does not have seam allowance markers, I watch many videos and I see that you added your markers with tape. Is there anyway this could be covered I have only been able to mark 5/8 inch marker. That would be awesome if you covered how you made the measurement for the markers in your machine. sorry for the long comment! Thank you again!!!!
@@cristalrl hi hun, sorry for the delay. YT does not notify me of comment trails. I'll definitely try and put up a video of this soon! Thank you so much for your kind words xx
Thank you so much. I used to sew wayyyyy back like 35 years ago. I remember bits and pieces so I've been looking for instructions for this adorable sewing machine. I watched many I won't lie. But yours is the best. Very easy to follow you. Thank you 🙏
The third step is the easiest for me and I found a way of making it look neat after sewing. I actually cut off the long thread "kangaroo" stitch from both ends
Thank you so much for this video...i was depressed how i am gonna lock the thread end.. But your video very beautiful help this poor girl... Thanks... Due to such videos our life style becomes very easy
Thank you so much!!! I'm new to sewing. This is my first machine and I was so disappointed when I realized there's no backstitch. I've doing something that is basically the 2nd method you showed. I can't wait to try this Kangaroo Hop 3rd method!!
Another way used way back in the days of antique treadle machines was, while still stitching, raise the presser foot just enough that you can pull the fabric towards you while the machine keeps sewing for a few stitches. Raising the presser foot slightly means you are manually "feeding" the fabric in reverse in a controlled manner instead of the presser foot and feed dogs doing it. Then, when you want to resume sewing forwards, lower the presser foot again and stop pulling the fabric towards you. Now that the presser foot and feed dogs are feeding the fabric again it will sew forwards as usual.
Loved the 3rd one might not be as neat as the other 2 but it saved my problem in turning it a 180 degrees - my mini sewing machine is literally mini so its hard to turn the fabric backwards. Thanks very much.
Ooni Crafts TRULY thank you so much! the first time I used the sewing machine went great!! If I didn’t watch your videos first I would’ve messed up pretty bad from the start😅🙏🏽
I did that Kangaroo hop on vintage singer sewing machine that have no back stitch and my grandmother taught me kangaroo hop when I was 8 or 9 yrs old in 1955/56 cos my grandfather was in India in the war before ww1 1898. He told my gran how to do kangaroo hop. It’s good thing to do instead stitching 3 times.
Ohh my that's amazing! My mum also had a vintage Singer but I think it did have a reverse lever. Mum was born in India too around 1946/47! It's amazing how we can be connected through generations to multiple places on Earth. I would love to see how your quilt turns out x

My grandmother’s vintage sewing machine is gone or sold by my aunt as it’s suppose to be for me, my mum asked my aunt (her Sister). Where is the machine and my aunt said it’s gone sold and my mother was fuming cos my gran told my grandad and mum it’s for me and my aunt was there. She’s so selfish for selling for money so she and her family can go to Australia. I’ve a number of sewing machine and traced every where but failed and I was in tears just to remember my grandmother taught me every details of sewing machine and my mum hugged me tightly and she got another sewing machine but it’s with handle but it’s not bad as I preferred the other one my gran suppose to be for me. I’ve seen my aunt again not nor write a letter cos stole my machine. 😒
My mini sewing machine won't sew, I have tried your tutorial about the hook kissing the needle. The thread came out from the hole in the middle but when I try to sew the needle just puts holes! I saw a video about trying to rearrange the needle but still no effect. Pls help. Thanks a lot
If nothing still works, please don't waste your time and energy on the machine. There are too many people suffering due to a bad product. Hi Cia, thank you for your comment. I bought mine on Amazon. You can find it here: amzn.to/2VEcS2Z although I'm unsure if it's still available. I don't think there are any real or fake sewing machines. They appear to be mass produced in China and then branded and sold by different sellers. Don't worry about the light though, not having it will not affect sewing at all!

hi mam i want to say what can i do if my sewing machine not stich both thread i hope u read this..thank you so much po😊😊😊
Last one seems quite easy and time saving. First one is also perfect. Thanks.
The first one for me. It seems very easy for a beginner like me 🙂

Lycra is a knit fabric, incompatible with this machine
