In my opinion this whole concert is a masterpiece, and remains the most beautiful and heartfelt tribute ever performed.
Couldn't have said it better...
I almost agree, the most heartelt tribute was Freddie Mercury's tribute concert.
Yep
Agree with you 100%
David Navarro haahahahaah queen fans with another dumbest comments there is no artist in freddie mercury tribute better than paul mccartney and eric clapton you sounds jealous with this tribute.
You can tell that Paul worked hard on getting his vocal just right for this show. He took the pain of his grief and refined it into a rich performance as only he could.
He paid for his attitude during the rehearsals of this master piece in Jan 69.
His vocals are never off!
Paul did an outstanding job singing this outstanding song by George.
@@f.javiersalvagarcia1831 something tells me that very period of time might’ve been on his mind as he sang the song. Regret can be a powerful thing.
agree 100%
Who better to sing George’s Song than Paul … in George’s memory
He sounds amazing. I LOVE this rendition!
Eric Clapton
😂😂😂😂😂
The Beatles recorded this song but it never made it on an album. During the Let It Be sessions, John made the suggestion to George to change the lyric a wind can blow those clouds away, to a mind can blow those clouds away
All your friends doing it
This makes Klaus Voorman and Jim Keltner the only musicians to have played with all post-Beatles lineups (Billy Preston and Clapton actually played with all the Beatles on their albums)
Elton John
@@andi17ish Elton played with George (Cloud Nine), John (Walls and Bridges) and Ringo (in George's album). When did he record with Paul?
This song is a masterpiece. You can listen it when you are sad, angry, happy, stressed, depressed or whatever. And it always makes you feel so full inside. RIP George
This is probably the most beautiful version of this beautiful George Harrison song ever performed. Well done Sir Paul.
It's gorgeous. I come back to it time and time again.
Paul never understood or appreciated George when he was alive, and this assembly of 'super-stars,' with the abysmal insult of including George's son Hari as a token, is absolutely antithetical to George's entire philosophy. George was just interested in being human, while Paul was always at heart a canny businessman who was mainly interested in the success of the enterprise. George created the benefit concert, while the rest of the rock and roll stars were just fiddling around with their accountants, figuring out how to maximize the returns on their investment portfolios. Paul's "token" to his buddy is just a cynical enterprise, completely devoid of the soul of the original.

Klaus Voorman played bass on this - making him the only bass player to have played with ALL former Beatles.
Ringo looked really sad in this song! The man who never left George. Whenever George called him, he had responded! Even in concert for Bangladesh, when other two great beatles refused the George's call, Ringo came to America and performed with him and made a milestone in the history of Rock Music. A true friend of George and Bangladesh. A man with big heart! 🍃 Love from Bangladesh.
John was invited but he insisted on bringing Yoko. So George told him not to come.
Ringo got along with anybody. ✌️and ❤️
I don't think he looked sad. He was smiling at the band members and concentrating on his playing. Beautiful performance

@@rubygreta1 I heard that, After got invitation from George, Lennon went to UK only for avoiding George!
"George was my baby brutha". -Paul
“The daylight is good at arriving at the right time.”
This line. So quaintly written. You don’t know how heavy it is with how much of life it encompasses, until It hits you.
so is Gods help
And the line about clouds and how "a mind can blow [them] away" .. apparently, George had originally written "a wind" can blow them away and John suggested 'a mind'.
It’s amazing how these four guys in their 20s wrote very profound lyrics that reflect the emotions of the human condition. I’m 25 and I consider myself lucky that I still have around people that love me and care about me, however I know that all things must pass so I will try to demonstrate my love for them in whatever time I have left with them. Much love to everyone and always remember peace and love.
You nailed it.
One of my favourite lines of all time
I don’t know which is more impressive; Paul’s vocals, or Clapton’s being the “mother hen” and keeping this band in line to make sure Paul shined.
Beautiful. The story goes that Paul never really 'got' this song until he performed it here and then the emotion hit him. You can see the sadness/grief in every musician there, especially Eric. George was an absolute light 💙
He and John didn't think it was good enough for a Beatles album.
Legend has it, really?
The best "Beatles album"
It's so sad The Beatles did play through this song during the Get Back sessions and nobody picked up on quite how awesome it was...yet For You Blue and I Me Mine made it onto the album (both great songs, but not as good as this...really, that album should have had Don't Let Me Down on it too.. imagine van album with All Things Must Pass, Don't Let Me Down, Let It Be and Long & Winding Road on it...you're well on the way to a great secular gospel album!)
Paul and John played as backing vocals in this song during Let it Be rehearsal session. Paul must be very familiar with this song.
For one thing, Paul does a beautiful version of this song. Also, it’s amazing to see Clapton in the back singing along. You can tell he loves not just George, but also his music.
and his wife...........

They are really best friend. And from what I heard. Most of the concert is arranged by EC
Its a little ironic.. don't you think? To see Clapton on the stage is unusual.
a beautiful song! Thank you from a 77 year old! Even my 2 cats love this concert!
Your cats have great taste 😎
They're pretty selective about their music, eh?
You can hear the tears in Paul's voice
Al final de la canción, Paul mira largamente a Eric como diciendo, lo quisimos mucho...😢
It's a tragedy that the only way to witness this gut wrenchingly beautiful concert was to lose George!
"The greatest of Joy may come from the deepest of sorrow"
Very very very well said mate.
As I get older, this song makes sense to me. I’m crying, not because of the past, but what I be facing in the future.
What struck me that Paul's vocals are his moving soulful on a song that was not his. There is genuine feeling in his emotional delivery. There's love abound in this performance and I think it rather special.
George and Paul had been friends since George was 13 and Paul 14 so it was emotional for Paul, I'm sure.
@@dianesaari3034 I am sure too. Loss comes to us all and whilst always sad but that is because what came before was so valued and special (even with the ups and downs of all human friendships). When you care for someone when they pass on it is always both a sad yet beautiful moment. Beautiful for the sadness evolves as a result of love for another.
Paul really does such a good job on this, you can tell that he has played and sung it quite a few times over the years, if only for himself.
Like myself and millions of other fans of George, who know that the only way to remember him properly is to pick up your guitar and start strumming along.
the very quick eye contact and nod between Clapton and McCartney at the end says it all
I warms my heart seeing paul playing with dhani
Mine too 🤗
Dhani is so tiny oh my God
Donk of course, because it’s Uncle Paul and Uncle Ringo.
Did you notice the way he looked at Dhani near the end? That must have really killed him.
you will never see that again Dhani said some not so nice things about pauls son James and James returned the insults
Who would perform an ex Beatles song better than an ex Beatles especially when it is Paul McCartney. Paul for sure knows better the feeling George put in this song. The guys were together day and night with the Beatles. George and Paul were buddies before even Paul met John...

Eric worked really hard to assemble this concert to honor his good friend George . It was a beautiful event and the songs were incredible
If George could have seen Dhani up there with those big shots. All George's friends.
I want to cry towards the end when Paul Mccartney looks right at Dhani. Very emotional.

George was there in spirit. Paul's a good guy at the end of the day. Both--great musicians.
Paul's voice here even sounds a great deal like George. Great tribute! Friends from their teens, bandmates to the top, they had a great deal more respect and love for each other, and were much closer, than most realize. And Ringo too. What the Beatles experienced together can never be erased.
Well said
It's a nice tribute, however Paul sounds absolutely nothing like George.
@@EPA18 I disagree, and I'm right. There are many times when Paul and George's voices sound similar. Listen to Free As A Bird -- you can barely tell which one is singing which solo verse. ruclips.net/video/ODIvONHPqpk/видео.html So this is not a unique case. I think it's more that Paul can do anything with his voice, mimic anyone. Even Elvis. Of course he wouldn't want to "do" George completely on an occasion like this, just a phrase or two as a tribute.
@@charwest9449 okay, we disagree. I can tell every time. Literally, every time. To me, they are nothing alike. I say this as someone who has listened to the music of the Beatles, both as a group and as solo artists, for 56 years.
@@charwest9449 Yep, McCartney does 50's rock better than anyone IMO and he can sound exactly like Elvis sometimes.
3:05, the look Paul gives Dhani is stunning, like he’s playing with his best mate again
First time hearing Paul singing this song!
It was the first time he did! He didn't know it. He had to learn it. He had to admit in front of all Georges friends that he didn't know how to play this song! It was very well done. Paul put his ego aside and sang it like George did. Paul could sound like George. Their harmonies were so good with the Beatles. Happy Birthday George!
Rob Jontay you have a source on that story? Kind of surprised because there are bootlegs of The Beatles working on this song, with Paul singing harmonies and the slide guitar part.
suits him, great job, great respect.
Of course Paul would be that fucking guy who didn't know the song in a stage full of people who worshipped George like a God. And people still act like George was just bitter and resentful for no reason.
Paul also sang this song in one of his concert in Spain.
It's quite simply, the best song the Beatles never recorded ... some of the bootlegs of the studio attempts show where it could have gone ... This concert was such an epic of class and love for a giant of music ...

George’s boy is the spitting image of him. I would hope that George would be thankful for Paul and Ringo doing so much with his son.
It was Eric Clapton who was the musical director of the concert. Original Georges son DH was only going to be on a few songs, but Clapton said you cant keep running on and off!! So your ON!!!!!
@@robmorrison1043 Absolutely correct. Eric excelled himself with this concert, never have I ever seen a more beautiful or heartfelt tribute. God bless Eric.
@@robmorrison1043 It was Eric Clapton who chased mercilessly after George's wife, until in a weak moment, he finally stole her away from George. George was not too happy about that, but he was philosophical about it all.

It’s not like this is the first time I’ve heard this song but PBS televised this tribute to George Harrison this past weekend and for the first time I LISTENED to the song. Well, suddenly I got goose bumps and tears just started to flow. Ever since then, I’ve been watching/listening to this video and I can’t get the song out of my mind. What have you done to me George Harrison, thank you, RIP.

And Dhani right behind Paul is like a beautiful ghost, reminding us all of the beautiful George.

When I see and hear Paul McCartney sing this song, I hear Paul McCartney singing this song. Not only for the loss of his bandmate and good friend, George Harrison, but the losses that he has had to deal with in his life, starting with his beloved wife Linda who he clearly adored, the loss of John Lennon so tragically, and now George. In recent photos of Paul McCartney he looks extremely happy with his wife, but no one could ever replace Linda his first love. And I don't get the feeling that his present wife would have a problem with that. He truly looks happier than I have seen him in a very long time. Sometimes we take the scenic route, but if Providence is with us, we are granted happiness once again.

What a beautiful homage to one of the most special men that lived on this earth! George Harrison!!! I had the privilege of meeting his niece Leslie and his sister Louise in Sarasota, Florida in 1981.
I've been a musician all my life, and have heard many gorgeous songs, but this song, and this particular performance of it, always bring me to tears. even just writing about it. Seeing all the guys on stage singing along. And I really hate how any impact has been sucked from these tribute shows, over done and over done. The Concert for George though is a wonderful thing. Paul did it again on his solo tours along with "Something" as a tribute to George.

The main thing said by that look from McCartney to Clapton at the end is, we're doing George proud with this.
Paul’s little double strum @3:10 is tremendous, he’s never been an emotional guy on stage or in interviews, but that look he gives Dhani says it all
Jeff Lynne produced Concert for George this is why it sounds so great!
It is also probably why it was filmed in beautiful HD. Jeff had just filmed a show in 2000 which was very early HD.
When Paul tours, he performs "Something" as a tribute to George. Although I'd prefer All Things Must Pass, it's so touching to see the love Paul obviously still has for him.
