Doug I think I can help with Vibes situation. You need to understand everything he does Conveys Positive Vibes. You cant be all Negative Nancy driving a Tesla while drinking a responsibly sourced, Grande, Iced, Vanilla Latte with fat free soy milk from a conflict free plant and have a girlfriend who does Yoga, obviously being Humble but clearly better than everyone else, and not mark up 1.4 for the WSOP. You dont walk into Gucci and except to buy shoes for 60$. The guy has High Quality Vlogs
Anyway, much love Doug glad to catch the pod Joey thanks for the lols as always.

I must have binged on +50 hours of the podcast since I discovered it a few weeks ago. Spent more time listening to the pod than playing poker. Excellent service being provided here. It’s so rare to get such in depth discussions with some of the best players in the world in any activity let alone poker where people are incentivised to be more secretive. Thanks for helping us all become a little bit more GTO in life.

Just realized while watching, have to thank you guys (esp. Joseph) for staying on this content grind for so long, also keeping it authentic and real, brought many moments of inspiration to me and prob lots of others. And do consider Doug's fight commentary content argument if you want to massively increase your exposure, he makes a fair point.

Always fun having doug back on the podcast remember the poker community while you are gone to europe for months. Also Papi glad you are back to podcasting keeps the poker memes and drama alive in my discord while also providing great insight into various poker figures.

Loved the segment about how we've switched focus from high stakes pros to vloggers. I'm the opposite and that's why your episodes with makeboifin/limitless were my favourites (hope you get more HS NL regs on the pod). Pods with Doug were decent aswell, but would prefer to win the giveaway so I can listen to his strategy instead!!

      Calotti
People can identify with the smaller stake people who vlog. It's hard to relate to someone who is a poker genius and that's why social media is full of relatable content. When people relate to something then they enjoy it more. High stakes pros are fun to watch but even in the celebrity world you can see that more celebrities are social media based and have a closer connection to people.

Hey Joe, I think you're an awesome interviewer. Very unbiased, open minded and always viewing things from a fair approach. This comment is regarding Doug's opinion that "No one" is watching 5/10 VLOGS. I believe he later said that what high stakes poker pros are watching VLOGS. I also enjoy Doug's content too, however, what he didn't seem to realize is the amount of people who watch the low stakes VLOGS are most likely Recreational players, not high stakes pros. Who can absolutely learn from those VLOGS. I'm really surprised that Doug can not see this. Interesting. Anyway, keep up with your stuff, I love it!

The community doesnt care about the top high stakes pros because the top high stakes pros dont care about them. The vloggers are spending time with thier community, thats why their popular. Give and take. High stakes pros want the recognition from people they dont recognize. It wont work, at the very least they need better marketing.

  • @bonfanti
    @bonfanti 5 лет назад +1

Polky's missing the point here: most high stakes players won't obviously watch the vlogs, but the majority of the poker 'community' aren't high stakes pros. They're either micros or 2/5 grinders, folks with normal jobs who are fascinated by poker and aspire to get better at it at their local casino. Hence why the vlogs are popular. Nobody likes modern pro's: they're boring, obnoxious, robotic. The vloggers are more relatable. People get into poker because on paper it looks like a possible alternative to their boring lives, a way to make money and potentially chase a dream. Surprised that somebody like DP who made a career by making content online and owns a company that is supposed to teach recreational players how to play the game, fails to recognise or understand how these vlogs are changing the poker ecosystem!!!

I can't speak for everyone, but I think most midstakes/highstakes cash game players don't particularly like vlogs because of the level of gameplay in them. There's really not a whole lot to learn from them, so you're mostly just watching them for entertainment, but the stakes are too low to really get excited about any of them. It's hard though, because no good player is just going to openly talk about their strategy when theyre playing high stakes, which is what would make the vlog worth watching. So you basically need someone that plays really high stakes. Like If someone like Gus Hansen vlogged, that'd be super awesome. It doesn't even need hand analysis. Just seeing the players in the game, the stacks, whose up or down, and hand histories would be awesome.

I think getting hung up on negatives vs positives is actually more productive. Theres more room to improve in focusing on negatives where positives don’t really need to improve in most cases. I think that’s why the bad stories tend to have greater longevity than happy stories.

Here's the thing. One side has dragons because the other side has ice zombies, and the only way to kill them is with fire or volcanic glass. When the story begins the last dragon has been dead for 100 years, and anything magic is basically dormant, so it's just a medieval world where the noble families are at war. Now the only people who have seen the dragons are from the far east, and the only people who have seen the zombies are from the far north. Meanwhile the rich and powerful people in the middle don't believe the stories until it's too late, so they just keep fighting and backstabbing each other the whole time while the northerners and the easterners join forces to fight the zombies. I've been playing poker since 2015, but I've been nerding out on this story since 2010 or 11. It will be over for me in a month, but it would be nice if I had a masterclass of some kind to occupy my time afterward.

The lab is a great product it changed my poker game and introduced me to solvers, and led me to hours in front of a PIO window. looking forward to the new solver content. The Nick P tournament course is great too. Free year?

Doug calling Joey out for watching vlogs was hilarious 😂

Funny, JohnnyVibes and Andrew Neeme I like them for the same reason I watch Doug Polk, because they discuss their thought process and strategy. I watch them in order to learn, in order to become better. Just like I watch Bart from Live at the Bike.

I'm sure most people watch vlogs because they like the vlogger personality more than the actual content itself.

@joeingram1, I think the viewers need to know - has Nagy requested a questions list prior to the interview in order to control the narrative?

"People are saying" that it is great to see Douglas K Polk and Papi back in the streets. This was a really high quality video, some might say it was (GPI) award worthy. You two really vibed during my new favorite segment where you shame someone who is pro child molester....Controversial as always Doug....SO negative.

I consider my self the most positive. I always 3-bet with any Ace because my pocket aces are “half full”. #positivity.

The 1st episode does kinda feel abnormal .... I felt the same way....but once the game of throne starts which is technically after Robert's death... it's so much fun ...finish 1st season doug...you'll have fun!
