I have had this aquarium since 2017 without any issues. I've used it for my full grown male RES turtle, and no problems with leaks. I guess it was a quality control issue and I got lucky.

Bought this set a little over a year ago. Went on a three day holiday to come back to an empty tank - 65 gallons of water in the carpeted floor. Leaked at the front left corner.

After purchasing this same set up. I realized that the cabinet is weak it has no support in the center and it flexes too much. I Went to Home depot and bought plywood and sheeted the back completely. I also added support on the inside and put a leg in the middle underneath. So far I haven't seen a leak. I believe that the problem is that the tanks seal is becoming separated because of lack of good support from the poor built cabinet.

Hi, I'm sorry yours sprung a leak as well. It appears that there's just too many people having issues with this tank. Some have suggested that it's the dimensions of the tank that put too much stress on the seams. I believe the poor quality of craftsmanship is also a huge factor. I wouldn't recommend anything larger than a 40B from aqueon moving forward. Thanks for watching & commenting.

  • @ammoalamo6485

I have a 40 breeder from Aqueon, bought on sale from a pet store 60 miles distant. So far, no leaks, no problems, been 4 years now. I was going to look at buying the Aqueon 65 shown here because it's on sale for $299.99, call it $325 with sales tax. I always read the 1-star reviews first, they tell me more than the guys who give something five stars before they unpack the stuff. This one had 11 5-star reviews and 12 1-star reviews. Whoa. That says a lot. This video is right on target with the other 1-star reviews. I would never have thought it could be so bad, because my 40 breeder is 4 years old with no leaks. So now I notice my 40 tank all the silicone in the corners is de-laminating from the acrylic, and it was never a smooth fill in the first place; I expect sometime soon I will have to re-seal the whole thing. We have vinyl floors in the aquarium room in the expectation of leaks, but a full 40 gal or 65 gal leak is wayyyy too much! I am on a fixed small income andhave to buy something onsale... I'll keep looking, maybe for something used but not too old.

    • @fishn4k969
      @fishn4k969  5 лет назад

Hi, I'm glad you've had a good experience with the 40B so far. For what they're worth, these ensembles are over priced. I'm glad you pointed out that these tanks in particular have a high occurrence of failure. It's really unfortunate because this is a really nice tank size. I'm sorry to hear about the silicone issue you have, they really should use better silicone. You're right about 65 gallons being a huge amount of water to have on the floor, I'm glad I caught mine early. Thanks for watching.

I bought 2 of these tanks from petsmart within months of each other and neither leaked. Owned both over 2 years and no problems besides replacing the dim lights. The stand should remain completely dry though.. It will swell and crumble so be careful and dry up any spills

I have this tank I've had it for 6 months and so far I haven't had any issues definitely fingers crossed the seals seem to be very good nothing is off as far as not aligned correctly where the silicone goes and it's been a setup now for 6 months with no issues so far the reviews are starting to scare me a little bit but I'm wondering if maybe the tanks were not balanced correctly or maybe they got defective ones I have no idea I got mine on sale for $249 I did not pay the $399 price

I should have went with my gut after watching your video and went with another aquarium. The first one I purchased started leaking with 30 minutes of leak testing it. It leaked in the area of the warning tag.
Last weekend I made it through a 24 hour leak test, but thought that tonight I should try again before adding any substrate. It wasn’t even a 1/4 of the way full and it leaked from the same area.

I purchased this tank a few months ago. It also just developed a random and major leak from the bottom last night. If i wasn't home at the time, it would have been a disaster for my fish, and a even larger mess to clean up. Don't buy this tank because too many people are reporting this issue. Remember always put Styrofoam under anything I do it even on a 10 gallon just one of the things I do.I bought a small Korengal from PetSmart got it all set up after 35 years experience leads me to get back to the store they gave me another one.Look great at first went to bed off the water down to 2 inches even after I done the league test this is a small corn 20 gallons for quarantine tank.Any particleboard stand is crap.Dangerous especially my children on the house I wouldn’t trust it for even one minute can you imagine the glass falling on your kids Like the old rod iron stands Of yesteryear another dangerous stand on the market .Impossible to keep the particleboard dry!My husband is a Carpenter type feller he can build anything .My heart bleeds for you.a 2 by foot stand works in a Pinch I’m sure younger women would be able to do it or anyone that Measure adequately use a measure for sure have some math skills and hold out of patients screws work better..If you own your own home you can always knock a wall out make sure it’s not bearing pop the Aquarium in.no floor space used Super safe for kids

I own this very tank and I think it is awesome. I have bigger tanks and smaller tanks but this one is the one that is in my library, I keep Severums, bristlenoses and angels in the tank and they love the tall separation. I think your type of journalism is very biased and dangerous. You have cherry picked ll the bad reviews and completely ignored the good ones. Just remember that MOST tanks have issues due to bad handling, either at the warehouse/store or by the user themselves. To balance your review let me cherry pick good ones from the SAME website:
I just bought this aquarium and I can’t say enough about how great it looks. I was looking for a big aquarium for my angel fish. In the store I couldn’t decide if it was big enough. I guess against all the other aquariums it did not look as big. When I got it home I was amazed at how big it is. My angels love it. I love it. It doesn’t look cheap. If you are looking for a big and tall aquarium, I definitely recommend this beauty. 5 STARS
I bought this tank set two weeks ago!! This is my third Aqueon aquarium I have in my house. I also have the 54 gallon corner tank set and a 37 high set. I love them all. No problems with any of them. This tank by far is my favorite! Perfect for my Angel fish to grow and swim!!
I bought this tank almost two years ago still in good shape ,we have discus, neon tetras
I bought this tank on Memorial Day. I have discus fish, neon tetras, German blue rams, and freshwater neon gobies. The tank is heavily planted. Simply gorgeous.
I have been eyeing this tank for some time as a “exclusively” Angel talk for my wife’s veiled Angels both because of the depth and height. Then it went on sale at a fantastic price. The aquarium is gorgeous with crystal clear (lead free?) glass. The stand is much sturdier than I expected and fits line a piece of fine furniture in my wife’s living room. Cabinet space is huge and the doors are sturdy. The only issue is it was advertised as having LED lighting but it is fluorescent, which isn’t an issue (for me), but should be clarified in the advertising. I intend to get controllable Fluval LED lighting for day/night reality.
I bought this aquarium about a month ago because my 55 gal. Long tank was over 20 years old and sprang a major leak. Just love this aquarium, it’s tall instead of long which is purfect for the space that I have. Not to mention it just looks great!
Don't cherry pick and don't air your own experience as gospel. I have taken care of mine and it is wonderful, 5 stars.

Hi, I made the video to share my thoughts, opinions, and personal experience with this particular ensemble. Since the making of my video, others have come forward with even more instances of seam leaks. I can't speak on the experiences of others and so I can only go off of my experience and so with that said, I don't recommend this as a solid buy.
One can simply see all of the negative reviews on the petsmart site and easily note that there is a higher instance of leaks on this one when compared to other tanks.
I'm glad you have a good one and believe me, I hope my replacement tank (65g) holds up until I'm ready to get rid of it. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback. I'll be including a mention of positive reviews/points on things I dislike or don't recommend moving forward on upcoming videos 👍
