Apple Carplay and Android Auto Activation on Renault R-Link2 System.
Here's the video on how to activate Apple Carplay and Android Auto on the Renault R-Link 2 systems.
This procedure will work only on R-Link 2 system version 3.3.x . . unfortunately it will not work on previous versions!

My SF-version is 7.0.24.166 (with boot-version 5615) and no idea of its update history.
During connection I see the following message "Found ECU [Audio] (not perfect match) :RadNav 2.X v2.5 DIAGVERSION [00] SUPPLIER [CAP] SOFT [70] VERSION [24166 instead 23906]" and thought Apple Carplay would not work, but it does work.
My USB-connection box is 280238352R and looks correct for Apple Carplay to work.
Worked perfectly with my $3 Bluetooth obd dongle thanks for the info

Hello Michele. I would like to ask if this is petrol or diesel engine car? On the official ILC website it says that this OBD 2 does not work with Nissan and diesel. This is why I would like to check before buying. Thank you, I appreciate you very good videos. 😊

Good tutorial, everything is working fine. Got some issue at the beginning but it was due to the odb2 key that I was using.

So, if you have that version you can choose 3.3.X.. 7.0 is just a updated 3.3!
Michele Predieri I’ll try that. My case is a bit particular one, the car had the 2.2.15 version and then Renault screwed up updating it to the 2.2.19 and can only solve it by upgrading to the 7.0.24. I’ll let you know how it went.
Oh okay! So you should use the 2.2 section, because the hardware is a native 2.2! You can unlock android auto, but unfortunately not Apple CarPlay

Hello, great video explaining this. I've found a similar tutorial before which required modifying an obd2 adapter to accept CAN2, why is this nessacary for the tutorial or dont i need it?
Nope, the modified OBD2 is for some clusters into audio section, so no worries!

unfortunately not, only VW and AUDI can show idle consumption.. with Renault is not possible

Hi, as you can hear in the video, my car is with r-link 2.2 so android auto won’t work. I just showed the procedure on how to activate it.
Thank you for the video I did all steps on my 2018 Talisman with version 3.3 and all went OK and I have now smartphone mirroring option on the menu but the problem every time I try connecting my iPhone to any of the 2 ports it keeps disconnecting and connecting endlessly and not able to launch CarPlay any thoughts will be much appreciated … Thanks

I have used your method to install it but sometimes it wouldn’t connect at all. Keeps showing me message “Device Connecting “ and then never connect . Then every time I have to reset the multimedia then it works for sometime and then I have to do the same thing.

Hi Michele, Really great videos. I Just viewed your video for activating android auto on renault kadja, unfortunately my son pressed the wrong screen format size and after rebooting screen it went blank. How can we reverse this? We can go into developer mode and reset screen size but after shut down and reboot it goes back to high resolution. Sorry we didn't view your video prior to causing the fault.

Hi Michele, thank you for the comprehensive video! I tried to activate Android auto on my 2016 Renault Talisman. It has R-link 2 version 7.0.24.166 and I managed to alter the settings. If I push Read all in DDT4all, the new settings are saved. I even tried in 'after sales' mode.
When I connect my phone, I don't get the Android Auto option on my R link 2 system. Do you know any reason why it doesn't work?
I found the answer: not all usb cables work for android auto streaming :)

So hi there, maybe a stupid question… android auto is working completely fine! Thanks for that but,… apple CarPlay won’t start/ work, any tips/ ideas why?
You probably have to change the usb rack. If your car is not CarPlay fitted by default you have an usb rack that delivers 500mA, but CarPlay requires 750mA to work.
So, to make it work you have to change the usb ports. It’s plug and play and you will find online the part with not much money.
Original part will cost more than 100€ 😅

Hi Joseph! if your car is not fitted with Carplay you have to change also the USB hub, because the original one that does not supports Carplay is 500mA, then you need the one is made for Carplay, which supports 1A; talk to your dealer or find it used on eBay

The OBD scanner you are using did you need to modify it to work or was it plug and play. Asking as seen a few people have to open them up and move some pins around
with these hacks you don't need to modify anything. Modded OBD interface is for other hacks

Hi is there a way to change the default music to Bluetooth on r link 2 because my 2011 Renault megane used to default to the Bluetooth music if that was that last played but my 2017 mk4 doesn’t it just goes to radio so I was wondering if there is something turned off somewhere ?

I did it with RadNav 3.x.
My S7 Edge connected to Rlink 2 via USB cable and it works.

@@MicheleP no, il pulsante sullo sportello li chiude e non si aprono mai. Io vorrei che non si chiudessero quando chiudo la macchina ma in evenienza chiuderli con il pulsante
Ma in teoria dovresti avere sempre aperti/sempre chiusi/auto
In auto dovrebbe farlo in automatico allo sblocco vettura

Sicuramente avere la possibilità di seguire un tutorial in italiano per chi non ferratissimo in inglese, potrebbe essere utilissimo e fugare tutti i dubbi che nascono da possibili diverse interpretazioni. In ogni caso ti faccio una domanda, recentemente la casa madre ha aggiornato durante il tagliando sulla mia Vettura (06/2017), il sistema da 2.2.19.300 all'ultimo 7.0.24.166. Tu pensi sia quindi possibile fare la stessa procedura, visto che in Officina mi hanno detto che per funzionare AA sul mia vettura c'è bisogno di un implementazione Hardware e non Softwere ? Ed infine, è vero che attivando AA con questa procedura si perdono i controlli Vocali nativi di Renault su RLINK 2 ? Grazie mille
Un altra domanda, prendendo spunto da quello che ho letto anche prima, ... ma nel mio caso : Versione nativa R-Link 2.2.19.300 aggiornata al 7.0.24.166 , in caso di modifica, quale "configurazione RadNav" devo scegliere ? La 2.x.x ..... oppure l'ultima versione della 3.x.x. in quanto la 7.x.x non è presente ?
allora in questo caso devi scegliere la 2.2 perchè il tuo sistema ha l'hardware della versione 2.2
esato, in questo caso puoi attivare anche android auto, ma ci sono anche un po' di passaggi in più da fare (Siccome hai la 2.2)
In quella scheda non basta attivare Android Auto e Carpaly ma devi anche attivare SPVR (per il riconoscimento dell’assistente vocale del tel) - Poi devi controllare anche che:
Wifi e RES non presenti
Screen orientation su Portrait se hai schermo da 8,7” e Landscape se è da 7”
LKA non presente (tranne scenic)
LDW audio (tranne che scenic)
Embedded VR attivato (assistente vocale Renault)

hi! yes, it will work, simply because the feature is hidden, follow the guide and you will have android auto and carplay activated!
@@MicheleP my friend, it worked like a magic, at first it didn't but it was a cable issue, using genuine Samsung cable..have Android Auto working like a dream, removed restriction regarding video ( can watch it when driving as well), last thing I need to do is to get RUclips working on Android Auto as well and I am happy...your video tutorial helped enormously, so much easier than using ODBC connection. @@MicheleP It's the typical message "Do not attempt to enter route information or adjust this device while driving...". Every time you start you have to click on OK. Thank you in advance.
Well, actually the Smart Fortwo shares with Renault Twingo the mechanical part, but electronics is different. With DDT4ALL you can only manage parameters on Renault Group cars (Renault, Dacia)

hello @MicheleP, do i need to upgrade my usb ports on a 2016 megane iv (its running the 7.x updated firmware version in the 2.x hardware)? i can run the android auto but it is very glitchy. Like, when i select a route, nothing happens and i get a toast saying the navigation has stopped. Or if the phone screen is off, the map freezes...
Hi Michele, I drive a 2017 Kadjar 1.6 Dci with the R-link 2 in South Africa. I'm really annoyed with Renault SA because they are unable to get my Tom Tom GPS traffic to work. What I mean is that the R-Link 2 cannot connect with the phone data through Bluetooth, so it cannot get Internet connection. I cannot even connect to the R-Link store or anything. Is there a way you can help me to activate this? They even changed my radio under warranty but it made no difference. They obviously don't know what they are doing. Please help me, I am willing to pay for your help. Thank you.

Im looking to a buy a used Megane and want to be sure what model I can buy with Android Audio. As far as I understand, if I have Android, I can buy a R Link 2.2 version, let a retailer upgrade it to 7.x (nothing I can do myself?), and still use Android Auto? But not Apple Carplay? That specific hardware aint needed for Android Auto?

Complimenti, otiimo video, (anche se non sono molto ferrato in inglese ). Non vedo l'ora di provare il tutorial sulla mia Gran Scenic che ha lo stesso problema. Non ha android auto attivato e secondo casa Renault NON è possibile attivarlo. Ora sperando che tu possa fare questo video anche in italiano (tante volte non avessi capito qualcosa), ti faro sapere se ci riesco.
ciao! se hai R link versione 2.2 allora non c'è proprio modo di attivare carplay o android auto purtroppo, se hai la 3.3 allora si, lo puoi attivare! comunque è molto semplice dai, basta che metti su muto e guardi solamente il video.. non è complesso.
Hi Michele, thanks for your amazing videos! i have koleos 2 with RLink 2 V3.3.16.946. however i use the Elm327 OBD II but it always shows "no ELM327 or OBLink detected on COM port 192.168.10:35000"
i already bought 2 OBD wifi and still can't connect the OBD to my car.
